Harder ... Faster is the eighth studio album by Canadian rock band April Wine, released in 1979
Who's listening to this in 2024 .. one of my favorite songs of all time
Agreed
Still an aural fantasy that is the sound of a lonely teenager*s Saturday afternoon where it doesn*t even have to be Saturday or an afternoon!
Agreed. Great song from the past. We bought the Harder faster album years ago. And still have it. One of our favorite song. Definitely.
Say hello......
The song is fantastic, no question.
I don't know what you Canadians have in your water that's makes such great musicians but I hope it never goes away. Thanks for the memories guys.
these boys were actually from nova scotia
Dude that's funny
If you say you agree. That's the way it will be.
We go on and play the game
@@terryborgwardt2422 Terry, I thought these were Toronto guys, but I do not effing care. I love these guys so much. Btw I use my government name too. Respect my friend
How great this song is even after 50 years. That. Is. A. Quality. Groove.
Glad you like it!
Say Hello is on the album Harder Faster from 1979, it's 44 years old 🙂
Just the coolest groove! Hello from Kansas USA.
so agree its their best
Groove is what seperated them from the other classic rock bands.....and at times he could almost impersonate Elvis.
April Wine is a fine example of why I'm glad to be Canadian. We know how to ROCK.
Several years ago, I was called out to do some work on an alarm system. I was shocked to see Myles opening the door at the house after I knocked. The repair took about 20 minutes. We talked and listened to music for several hours before I had to call it a day. Hell of a nice guy.
You are one very lucky person
@@alanlarkin4766 you have no idea how awesome it was. I have been one of his biggest fan since the late 1970’s and here I am chatting with him on his couch and listening to records with him.
It was 1979 I was a high school senior cruising around in my 72" mustang with my girl blasting this tune. Went to see these guys twice so glad I did.
I did the exact same with the 8 track playing this tune. 2 yrs later bought a 72' Mustang Sprint which I still drive on Sundays!
I'm 66 years old now and I grew up on this group and a lot of other Canadian bands in the 1970s courtesy of St Louis radio station KSHE.
saw boston at checker dome 1978
Canada Rocks! Best neighbor ever! ❤🇺🇸
Thanks my brother. I love Southern Rock...Allmans, Doobies, Skynyrd...America is beautiful. Music is the voice of God. Peace.
If there were a little legit rock and roll hall of fame there is no way in hell these guys would NOT be in it.
How could a song this great be something I've never heard before. Why is this not played on classic rock stations daily. 5 Stars
Even worse than that I used to love this song but forgot about it, might be cause almost every time I heard it back then I was smoking weed, but thank god for youtube I can still find these long lost gems. I bet I haven't heard it since the early '80s, I'm sorry ears
So many great classic rock tunes that are never played on so called classic rock stations. Seems like they have a play list of about 500 maybe a 1000 songs that get played over, and over and over and over again. Did I say over and over again? Great songs but come on. You figure if the window of classic rock is say 1964 to 1994 that's 30 years of music should we seriously be hearing the same songs repeatedly. Internet only radio stations seem to be the way to go but I seriously can't find a really good one. For oldies yes, but for classic rock not so much. Any suggestions?
This is the tip of the iceberg.
@@fumingriley welcome back my friend
@@brucetracy8456 that argument is a summary of my thoughts that is why I thank UA-cam. I have a massive CD and vinyl and yes...cassette collection but I always end up here.
One of the greatest intros in the history of rock…. TURN IT UP!!!!!
Back in the day, I had a beautiful '73 Charger with four Jensen triaxles in the rear shelf, two Jensen co axials in the doors. A nice amp. I would open the trunk and the doors and
crank this. Instant party.79-80 or so.
Yes those days were the best , cruising around and meeting up with all our friends and playing music from our car stereos, great memories for sure cheers .
I still have the original vinyl album 'Harder Faster' from '79, and it's in mint condition. Back in the day, we recorded from vinyl onto cassette so we could jam in our cars to our "Party Mix" tapes. This song still sounds awesome and brings back great memories.
Love that name. Most people dont know who that is. Lol
Ditto
Yes I still have this album and two other one's by April Wine 💜 They all rock but Harder Faster is my favorite 🤘🤘
So do I
Back in the early 70s when I started buying albums I would record them on cassette played one time still have plastic on them. I have some great albums.
The greatest Canadian band ever and the greatest lead vocalist ever. RIP my friend Miles Goodwyn. God bless you and you will be missed but never forgotten.
A hidden gem with no airplay...
I introduced my son to this beauty when he was 3! Its one of his favourites. He's now 22. Love you boy. Canada Proud. The Great White North.
Myles Goodwyn incredible guitarist and songwriter. His music will still be listened to 100 years from now.
Nine seconds in... one of the most anticipated guitar riffs. Gives me chills.
"Don't go livin in the past" - first words I hear as I cue this up to relive my youth. Prophetic. I was 10 and just discovering music when this came out. I sat glued to the radio waiting to hear it over and over again. Brings back good days back in my hometown of Ottawa.
Thank you, Stuber for introducing me to this song. I’m giving you five stars.
Good five lol.
It's a shame that you had never heard it before. I've enjoyed it since its release.
Man I feel old! But when I listen to this I feel young as I was back when it came out and I was cruisin down the freeway in my White 78 Trans Am! It is a damn good song!
...just don't make music like this anymore!
I heard this on Stuber as well. I didn't know it was so old. Loved it!!! ❤
Driving around the cruise in my 69 Camaro with April wine playing with my best friend Scott with his 65 mustang. He later went to Iraq, survived that and passed from cancer when he got home. Nothing more to say. Just my head hung low.
My MOM asked me in December 1979, I could pick out 2 albums for Christmas. I chose Molly Hatchet Flirtin with Disaster and HARDER FASTER. My friend had the record, and i loved every song on it. STILL enjoy it in 2023. Sad to hear Myles passed away this week . RIP Myles. Such a great catchy song.
Most underrated band of all time.
Absolutely
They most def are one of them! Was really into April Wine back in the day!
@@jamespennington9719 I still am and will never stop
So true! God I love April Wine! They should be inducted in to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame!!!
One of...
I'm grateful that you liked to rock Myles!
Rest in peace
Beyond genius. Perfect. Criminally under rated. If Foreigner did this billions sold.
Great production! Holy cow!!
Best riff ever
God I love April Wine! Brings back such great memories of the late 70's early 80's when there was real music and real talent!
So right! Real music.. Real talent... and no freaking autotune.
@@susiegreer6890 I hadn't listened to this release since I was 12 until today.... The chills and feels are still there.
well said !! these guys were cutting their teeth on the High School circuit in Atlantic Canada back in the 70’s ..i’d say they did quite well for a bunch of Maritimers 👍🏻✌🏻🇨🇦
yeah their music defined brilliance then & STILL DOES TODAY !!!
🎯💯
RIP Myles Goodwyn.......Godspeed
The opening of the drums rocks the ground down to it's core 🍻🍻🍻
SAW them LIve 5 times!!! April Wine Rocks!!!
5 times. Where?🥨
It is 1979, I am leaving soccer practice in my '71 Cutlass BLASTING this cassette in my Pioneer SuperTuner. The crisp air is blowing through the car. I am 17. Life is good. I have no problems AT ALL.
amen buddy, im 18 going for night drives beautiful weather... few worries good times
You got that rite just what I was thinking.never played on radio
Song didn't release till 1981
Ditto that. I graduated in '78. Life was good!
Must've been nice
Drinking beer in the McD’s parking lot after work, flirtin’ with the girls and crankin’ April Wine on my 6x9 Jenson Coaxials! Great times!
One of my all time best of April Wine's.
Dam good tune!
same here :)
how to choose ... sooo manyyy !!!
It is.
I'm not Canadian, I'm all my life in Seattle, I wish they spent more time here, the best music ever, I still smile
Best show I ever saw, 1979, at the Paramount. They rocked the house.
I have over 2000 Lp's and this is by far the most played in the collection..........YUP!.
Hell yeah Frank, respect!
OMG!!! This takes me back to 1980, my senior year of HS. One of my best friends, had this cassette. Blew me away. What a wonderful time for music. April Wine was better than their fame ever achieved. And this song I could listen to for hours. A mix of rock, blues, even funk. Greatness!
Sitting in my 1972 ford f100 and its pouring rain with say hello playing hits different.
One of Canada’s best bands-April Wine knew how to rock.Rip Miles, you were a giant among Canadian rockers. The 70’s and 80’s were much easier to handle with April Wine on the radio.
Love the delay on the snare and hats
First time I heard this, was walking up a hill in rural St. Ann, Jamaica. My neighbor had it blasting from his Lada. Seems he rode the rodeo circuit in Canada. He turned me on to April Wines extensive catalog. Criminally underrated band.
I cant believe how great this song is !! Dam !
Damn I'm living in the past when I listen to this song..It's making me smile!
Agree the music from this era was some of the best . Plus we had the best of the bad ass cars and the hottest chicks growing up lol cheers .
i got my first speeding ticket driving to this song...one of my all time favorite albums...harder faster.
Was 13 when this came out....loved it and to this day love it
One of my all time favorite bands. never can get enough of april wine. cheers
Why haven't I heard this song before?? It's freaking awesome!
Well if you are in canada they play this song Frequently , they have so many great songs cheers .
Christmas Eve 2023 and rocking out to this Gem......thank you Myles and gang.
How could you NOT love this song and group for that matter! A movie reconnected me with this song. Ah....memories.
Stuber!!!
Memories of the cottage. Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada. Drinking and having great times!!!
Agree great song and band from this era . We had the best music and the best bad ass cars and great memories back in the days lol but hey we can't tell everything from this time we have to let ppl imagine all lol cheers .
Ditto!
As we age along this life and our friends, family, icons, youth fade away and die...we must never let this amazing music and band get forgotten. Continue the journey...continue with April Wine when ever you can...loud and Canada Proud. The Great White North.
Man my parents had it good as teens back in the 70's. To be 19 when this released, I couldn't imagine what it would be like to slide this in the cassette and let it blast! Rock on!
Billy thorpe/ children of the sun. 😉
Ruined my life in a good way
It was fkin awesome.I used to rock this stuff in my pinto with mindblower speakers. My hearing paid a nasty price though.I can still hear with hearing aids, thank god for that.Im 63 now and still rockin to April Wine.👍
I love this song more than almost any other classic. My classics aficionados say it's not that great, especially for April Wine but to me it's pure genius and the best one by far. I agree with others here, it should be on the classics stations daily.
❤We Canadians love our musicians..thanx 😊😊❤
we Americans love your Canadian musicians!! This is my favorite Canadian band!
I worked on this drumbeat for over an hour when it came out. Got the band to play it once they heard me play the beat.
Love this song.... and April Wine.
Miles is still wondering what the time signature is and he wrote it.
@@DirkDillingerBlues lol
Jerry Mercer was a BEAST.
Back again. I can not stray far away from this
Rest In Peace brother❤️ such an amazing band. Thank you for your creation
New logo in '79. Coool
One of the greatest rock bands ever, changed my life when I bought the First Glance album. Then they follow it up with Harder Faster, just a great band and criminally over looked here in the states
those of us who have ears love this tune
no-o-o cassette will sound better! .....even if small amount of hiss
I still have the LP :-)) but no recordplayer :-((
I have the album too and a record player, I should hook it up and play it with scratches and all :)
no way!
Sweet !
First time hearing this song was playing on the loud speakers during my first day of Uni back in 04. Still rocking to it 17 years later...
OMG. Grade 10. Being a good girl was in the process of saving my life, but my favourite part of the afternoon was still heading down to the back parking lot at school where all the class skippers & lunch hour smokers leaned on their cars, windows down, & cranked the tunes. They capitalized every letter in the word TROUBLE, lol. Mad respect to all the wild child teenagers who made that time in my life so exhilarating.
Glorious times, glorious music. In my emotional memory this song came out right around the time Supertramp detonated Breakfast in America, but there was also that brilliant river of Canadian music bursting thru the radio. This song. Max Webster's 'Diamonds Diamonds' & "Let Go The Line'... Ian Thomas' "Pilot"--remember that one? "Wondering Where The Lions Are' which was the path I followed to Neil Young & Joni Mitchell....
6/4 time signature too! These guys are absolutely the best!
April Wine to me is a rockin band and this particular song takes them to the classics..
April Wine is by far the best Canadian, or should I say 'Scotian band. Period. I got way more chicks jamming this then to rush. April Wine attracts women rockers too. AND they're great musicians. No aspersions on rush. AW should be the Kings of the North. Ok rush fans come kill me now. Too late
This song takes me back to better times. ❤️
One of the best songs ever made. This song was one of my favourites when i was a kid, still is..
Totally agree
This is one of those songs you can listen to and NEVER get sick of,..It`s that of a song,..AWESOME,...!!!!
Wonderful song from an underestimated band, they have many undiscovered gems like this
AW. Immortal. I got to see this. No one could ever take this away from me
Or us
The best way to spend three minutes ever. My favourite AW tune.
I valve loved this band since I first heard them in 1978 when I was 13 I am a youper by the twin soos
I Like To Rock will always be #1 for me, but this will always be #2 👍
This is a heavenly slow dance in the dark or taking a bubble bath song
Oh Susie, you're giving me naughty thoughts!
I had the honor to see this line up in St Louis in December of '79. Great show.
You grow up there? Remember kshe95 was a bad ass station back in the day.
All the positive 😎 cool comments below...that is why we're here. Thanks
Montreal band by way of Halifax.
Driving down St-Catherine's and then on to Crescent to party in my old Chevy Nova. Those were the days.
while my friends listened to the smiths & such i prefered this late-70s early 80s rock in my 70 bee 440 in 1987
Forgot about this one, thanks to my sister for reminding me of my awesome teen years with awesome bands!
I only ever hear this on Rock 101 in Vancouver, so it was cool to see it in a US movie (Stuber). Never heard it on US radio, but one of my favorites.
It played all the time in Ohio. I've loved it since it came out.
WZZO 95.1 in PA played this and I Like to Rock back in the day.
Great Album, Start to End..So much good Music
One of the most underrated bands in my opinion.
No question
I remember this Album beeing my favorite when it comes out in Germany.
Playing this stuff on your car cassette- player, max volume, was the best way to get a ticket for speeding.
quite possibly one of the top ten rock albums of the 70's...Rocked the 8 track in my jacked up 70 Monte Carlo.
this song still just makes me all gooshy inside. fuck 40 years later. I love it
Smoking a joint on the way to school, alpine cassette deck jamming to this
@@troydaigle7902 word brother
Small college in Davenport, Iowa. 1981. Heard "I Like to Rock" before but discovered so many more jems like this one. "Tellin' Me Lies' also a great, and who could forget "She's a Roller" which has a bridge guitar frenzy that seems longer than both the beginning and the end of the song. What. A. BAND
Love this song. Always have. Always will.
These guys are amazingly good thank you Stuber 💕
Rolling in my '71 Chevelle SS in the early 80s with my windows down burning one. Best times ever! One of AW's best songs.
Oh, man...did they rock the shit out of the Summers for me back in the late 70s and early 80s...
Headknocker/foreigner 😉, rock 🎸 on friend.
this song gives me feels.
Nick Samuel THATS where I heard it lol
That break after the solo.... oh, hello, feels
_feels good man_
Loving It.....hearing this song makes me want to get up and groove
Dont break a hip..lol just kidding. Rock on!
In the 70's my friend's older brother had a killer 150w Sansui with some Bose 901 speakers that we would crank this album through. The guitars at 1:40 kick some major ass!
What cool song these guys rock .I still listen to this day .nothing but great times and music from this great time
my favorite concert Aprilwine love the guitars and the lycris
Very entertaining band, nice guys that talk to their fans
My favorite April wine song ...these guys have been great from the start
this is the perfect sound . thank you april wine 😎
This piece is living proof that watching even a silly comedy- Stuber, in this case- has its own unexpected reward! It sounds so late 70's that I'm sure I would've enjoyed it back then. I'm proud I can enjoy it in late 2020.
This has always been the hidden gem in their catalogue. These guys were criminally underrated.
MAN I had forgotten all about this tune. I used to rewind my cassette constantly to listen to this one. Im in the usa but live close to the canadian border. Growing up we were all heavily influenced by canadian rock bands.
I love this song so much.
Loved this tune for 40 years, road trip to Dodge City, Kansas with my buddy Steve!
Fantastic Canadian song/band.
