thanks. I don't know how the 25% referral discount/commission system is sustainable for meta or developers... but until they give it the axe, at least it gives me an easy way to give a mutually beneficial tip to decent VR content producers when I buy a game.
Admittedly, I understand that there is a certain amount of risk for corruption of journalistic ethics in a reviewer receiving a cut of sales for a title they are reviewing... but at the same time, if I'm going to go search out one of these codes, I'd prefer not to be giving a commission to the most annoying people on a reddit board spamming out their code as if it is some exclusive deal.
p.s. I guess the fact that the credit commission can only be spent on more VR products, which in this case only results in more VR content for me to watch; goes some way to short-circuiting the ethical conundrum...
For anyone holding off as they are wondering how to plays on the quest 2 as a standalone, it feels better than a lot of titles on pc. Was truly impressed.
As a content creator people dis-believe what I say sometimes due to the UA-cam BS, so I’m really glad you left this comment.

@@LoganOsberg at least 1000 people on average, always tons of servers. Usually United States has open servers 20/5 and then there’s United Kingdom servers
Great review as always, I do think that they are adding a Ranked game mode at some point but there will still be casual servers up that allow everyone to join, it's like this in Rainbow Six Siege too so it does work. The game looks super fun and I had a lot of fun in the alpha, I'll probably get this soon
For the little i played its very polished and runs like butter on quest. For me it's the simplification of the gun-interaction that doesn't do it for me. It's great. Shooting is fun and it works but, when the game racks the slide for you and the guns overall lack those moving parts it feels a bit off. On the other hand less moving parts equals more performance for other things.
But for anyone else not obsessed with reloading this is a great game 😅

It is a bummer that devs keep doing this. Firewall is far more egregious than this even, you don't even put a magazine in.
I think we might have to suffer through some boneheaded FPS game design for a while until devs realize there are better ways to make reloading easy than what's going on now. Contractors perfected it with giving us a LOT of leeway when it comes to reloads. You can just get your mag close enough and it just swopps right in there, never any fiddling or anything, but still get the awesome feeling of reloading.
John Wick would be far lamer if his pistols just auto reloaded... Reloading is what makes guns cool... Learning to reload is a big part of VRFPS games.. VR is primarily about interactions, and depriving us of that is just foolish IMO.
They believe they're catering to a larger audience, but what they're really doing is kinda condescending.. "The average joe couldn't figure these guns out..." is what I'm getting from the auto reload systems.
We're VR gamers.. We can figure this stuff out.. It's a gun.... It's literally as simple as a mechanism could get.. I have a harder time getting my blender to do its thing right. Those lids are no joke.

@@vgaportauthority9932 it's a little bit of a bummer but it's the only way really to balance weapons in VR. Contractors has a major gun balance issue and much of it is that you can shoot a sniper rifle at the same rate as a shotgun. The only other solution is adding massive amounts of random recoil and bullet path divergence and that's not fun, see:Pavlov and onward. Two games dying off at the moment
Man I have this same issue I'm used to racking it everytime but not in this one... has got me killed more then anything.. vr is still pretty new but once they figure it out it's gonna turn into a blast. Squad in vr I ultimately what I want but it's a long way off

And I agree with all the points in the video. Excellent game, but needs skillbased matchmaking at least in a competetive game mode. Also wish there was progression, so you had something to grind for!
A competitive mode and ranking is being released in the first update after launch.

quick tip use the jesper omen and vezin and marui if you cant get a holosight extended mag supressor and foregrip for a vezin get a omen with a holo extended mag and supressor and foregrip also dont use lasers those are the best guns also i kinda recommend not buying anything for pistol round maybe some gadgets and a sight for the jesper but yea also on the buy menu on the left side it tells your minimum money next round
Bought it yesterday on steam so just having practice games at the moment so not played a proper game yet. Took me ages to figure out the grappling hook 😂 absolutely love the game though!!

You can also steal loadout and tac from enemie teams after tou down them

Is it similar to Onward in terms of realistic damage(2 or 3 shots and you're dead) and a single life per match? Or is it more run and gun like a Population One?

A major gripe I have with this game is the battery on the quest dies in about 2 full games.
I wonder that last night too I played with my quest 2 fully charged and it seemed like it died in no time plus the quest got so hot first game I’ve played where I used my battery pack charger while playing and my quest battery actually went down not up
You should get 2 hour or 1 hour 45 minutes 🤔
@Gamertag VR I've had the headset for so long it still says oculus on it, pretty sure the battery is worn out on the unit.

It definitely needs some tweaks 100%. Points need to be further apart or there needs to be another one, needs one more emp, reloading needs to change (imo), and more attachments would be nice. I also have doubts that the devs will bring new content in fast enough to keep the player base interested. Competitive should definitely help. But this game also needs progression even just for cosmetics.
The gsmeplay is fun and the graphics are actually very good for quest. Guns feel pretty good. What makes or breaks games is the team you're on. If it's a bunch of screamers, it's awful. When you get a group who actually plays and comms, it's great. I think this is why comp will be great. Once you get high enough the lobbies shouod be good. But progression will be massive for this game. There is absolutely none right now
I don't agree with you for needing another emp. I do think they need to hide where the bomb defusals each round forcing the attackers to have to drone or clear. The dev's already have 2 maps almost done for the game. I also agree they need new attachments and gadgets
@Dr. J the points are just so close together. 2 emps would maybe make the emp actually mean something. Right now it doesn't mean much.
Fully agree that a leveling aspect is the best way to keep people in a mainly pvp shooter. I think the easiest way to accomplish this is to just auto fill lobbies with bots , it immediately takes the playerbase issue off the table ... now does that mean that people will have an easier time leveling because they will mostly go against bots while learning the ropes until they level up to get into the matches with the vets ..... YES. In fact I honestly have no clue why more of them don't do this as it would alleviate the biggest issue with online multiplayer shooters , does A.I. have to be pretty decent for it to work well... YUP, but I think devs should think about how much pressure it takes off of a game to CONSTANTLY have lobbies full or it DIES . It leaves the vets with the vets and gives the noobies a route of going through game to either go up against people also new to game or bots until they hit cap and hopefully with that design won't need the bots at cap level but could still leave it there as precaution if lobbies are low ever. The bots in Onward will rip you a new asshole if you crank up the difficulty and for online play that could translate into cranking difficulty at diff levels in progression. Just has to be a way to pick up the game and play at any time no matter what and you would alleviate one of the biggest issues in online VR shooters... just sayin lol

Ohh that's why they downscaled onward on pc. To make it smoother bahahaha. Just quick money on the quest facebook store and a poor pcvr port with a bit of shadow and voila a new vr pcvr game for extra pocketmoney. Yeah android vr gonna save pcvr.

Get the idea of android vr first and a little glitters over it for pcvr port but getting a bit pissed over it the last 2 years. And all comments like it looks great on android vr compared to pc etc. Go back 5 years and see what vr games looked like and played like nothing changed with android vr only the games are shorter or kids phone games ported to android vr ok we got 15 million people into vr thx to facebook but most play free games with in app purchase like gorilla tag and population one. But for newcomers to vr who don't know the history of facebook and oculus or don't played games like Asgard's Wrath and lone echo etc. Everything is still briljant and perfect. And facebook announced 6 million active vr players of those 20 million sold units. So 3 million playing gorilla tag and 1 million population one. So we have 2 million users who are willing to pay real money for a game and another multi player vr fps. Yeah that's the way to create a playerbase. Spread those 2 million players over another fps game. Hope contractors vr playerbase will not die.
@@michelverheijen6643 I'm certainly no lover of Facebook myself, I came from PSVR1 over to PCVR a couple of years ago and share your frustration over the lack of demanding games, I just prefer to try and look on the bright side, at least my rig will run anything I throw at it right now.
@@LafingAnarkist I understand. I try to be positive too. But it's hard the last 2 years. Dr.beef and prahdog's mods did more for vr then the billions facebook spend on it. Atleast the jedi outcast vr mod for android is released and half life 2 episode 2 vr mod for pc. And vertigo 2. So 2023 has some great moments but all because of modders and 1 indi pcvr developer.

the fact that this is $4 more on steam than on oculus is an insult. especially since you'd get both stand alone and pcvr versions on oculus.

Great review as always GT! I’m tempted but I’m pretty anti-social when it comes to online is it worth it for single player with the occasional online match?
You can mute everyone, play with bots and we have multiplayer discord for private matches
Teamwork is more essential in this game than most shooters. However, you can still be a team player without using the mic. Just rely on other people relaying information and work off of that. There's also a button to mark areas, so if you see a dude, just hammer that button and your team mates will know.
As far as teamplay heavy games go, this one has the tools for anti-socials like us to at least convey useful information without engaging in banter etc.
Sounds great. Hopefully it comes to psvr2 as that is my favourite platform at the moment. I struggle to play with other VR controllers now after using the sense controllers with the adaptive triggers.
I think adaptive triggers are overrated it adds nothing to gameplay I usually turn them off in the game settings

@@donnajones1075 Maybe I haven’t played enough games to tell how good it is I haven’t touched my ps5 in a month but in RE8 the adaptive triggers suck….when your shooting you press the trigger it basically stops half way so you have to push more not that’s special imo in Call of Duty I make sure to turn it off

Only thing I don't like is the lack of toggle-grip. I just can't be running around pressing a button.. It's so immersion breaking having to press a button to hold something.. When I pick up my water bottle, I'm not grabbing a button.. Grabbing the bottle..
When I want to shoot stuff in game, I don't want to hold a button down, I'm already holding the controller... And knuckle grips means I don't have to grab the controller that hard either.
Maybe toggle grip is in there somewhere, but I could not find it. Going to wait with playing any more until they add that. I just get so cramped up having to keep that button pinned.
Still don't get why devs don't just copy Contractors. FPS games have already been perfected, just steal that.
@3:27 ....The same could be said for Ghosts of Tabor, but that's what makes it worth fighting for. When you have junk gear and nail someone with an Alpha and take all their stuff, you feel like a boss. It's with any game. There's a learning curve. Gotta hone your skills, get better and learn from each death. I plan to get this game, but since Ghosts of Tabor just wiped, yesterday that game is goated right now.

The game is truly amazing, haven't had this much fun in VR for a LONG time but its all about the people you play with as well. There's always the Quest refund policy as well, you can try it out and if its not your jam you can get a refund.

I pity the PSVR2 players.. They'll get 100% destroyed by the much larger and experienced quest playerbase. I kinda think they should have waited until all versions were done tbh. Might be a financial luxury they couldn't afford, which makes sense.

I am a super casual VR player, and the few games I have actually liked I usually cannot handle playing on a daily basis.
This game has me playing at least twice a day for the last 4 days. I've never wanted to get my head in a VR more. Ridiculously fun.

Great video. But another multiplayer fps shooter on android vr while most multiplayer games are struggling with keeping their playerbase. Population one changed into free game with in app purchase bundles higher in price then any console or pc tripple a game(they hope kids will save the game, but i think they gonna destroy the game but they got the kids pocketmoney for nice looking skins). Gorilla tag goes the same direction. I hope playerbase will grow on android vr or any console but releasing fps after fps while a lot of free fps like pavlov shack(also destroyed by screaming kids) or hyperdash etc are available for the 6 million(facebook revealed) active android vr users. Guess most of them say 4 million stick to free games because their parents don't pay for every game they want. So 2 million users spread over all multiplayer games isn't good for the niche vr still is. And didn't facebook buy the onward studio so onward2 is also coming and why they dropped the quest 1 support with an update i don't understand after fire facebook employee after facebook employee shouldn't you be developing onward2 instead of still updating the old game so less players are in the playerbase. Most quest1 users are paying for games since most of them bought it for pcvr also and don't mind spend money on their hobby. Now you lost those users who pay for games and 2 million users is still nice money or not?

@SirRealDeal yeah personally I myself have gotten 30 of enjoyment already. But for others, it might not be worth it. No comp at launch, no progression, and only 3 maps. The devs need a bunch of content updates the rest of the year or I do fear the game will die. For me personally, the gameplay loop is good enough to keep me going. But won't be the case for everyone

It needs better bots and game modes based around clearing buildings and hostage rescue with co-op teams that get respawns. Like maybe 3 lives for each player. Also a good single player mode where you command a team just like early Rainbow 6 games. Then this game will be a must buy.

@@yourebigmad Graphics are the issue with quest, not bots or game modes. Tactical Assault VR has one single developer and it offers the type of variety already in Co-op mission types that could help Breachers out with new players as well as squads wanting longer missions with more trigger time.
This game is simply amazing. Definitely need skill based matchmaking. However you can get the hang of it pretty quick. I haven’t had this much fun since Echo and I look forward to seeing this game grow. It’s pretty special.

I think they'd be laughed at if they tried that. Ubi didn't even invent Rainbow 6. They just bought it up in the 2000s sometime.

Looks great, but if PC gamers play along with Quest players then no thanks. Pop one is ruined by overpowered PC players once you get to a descent level. This sounds like the same, as you discussed here.

FACTS
To be fair, everything that comes out on PCVR looks dated. Either it's PCVR shovelware, PCVR indie games or it's quest ports. None of the games look good... And it's not just due to the quest, it's mostly because there's no money for a big art team. No big art team = dated look.
VTOL looks like a flight sim from 2001, yet it's one of the all time greatest VR games. VR games just look dated, that's how it be.

I'm sorry for piping in here but I've seen GT be invited to studios and make a video afterwards not recommending a game until they fix it (eg Green Hell VR on PC). I've been following him now for 14 months and have known of him for longer then that. Despite any invites to studios or perks or whatever GT may get I find his videos to be super honest to his viewer base and never biased.

I've heard this argument so many times.. "This guy can't be objective because he got the game for free" or "they flew him to [place] so he could try the game!"
What I hear from this argument is that _you_ can't be objective if someone gives you something... Don't just assume that holds true for everyone. Don't assume everyone else can be bought off for knicknacks just because you feel like you would.... Not everyone is as easily swayed as a flat broke 14 year old blogger who got a game for free.
If you're in this game because you want to provide information and entertainment to your viewers, you'll easily be able to bypass biases, that's part of the job.
Not just that, think about this: If someone needs to fly you somewhere, that's not always a great deal... You're gonna blow a couple of days to go to someone's office to play VR uncomfortably... It's not really the perk you think it is... This is not a first class trip with a 50 star hotel waiting at the end... If it was me, I'd be more lenient if I was just given a key to play it in my own home... Having to go through airport security and sleeping at a half-decent hotel etc doesn't necessarily grease the wheels the way you expect... Someone getting molested by security at the airport wouldn't bring an automatic 10/10..
Be less paranoid. Not everyone is out to get you... GT literally wouldn't gain anything from lying. The payout for bought reviews is very low, and it becomes pretty easy to see who accepted payment when ONE dude gives something 9, and the other reviewers give it 6... And all the other reviewers also got the offer from the developer to accept some dollars for a high score.. So all the other reviewers know that the 9/10 guy is taking bribes... It's now in their interest to out that person as a dishonest clown, because that would mean more viewers for the honest ones..
