- Many of you could figure it out by now that I love Kevin. He and Jack are my favorite characters on the show, so I finally decided make a video about Kev.
I've actually started this show, because of Justin and I've always felt that he and Kevin were so underrated in season 1. I'm extremely glad with what they are doing to this character in season 2, though.
I'm planning on doing a video about Jack and Kevin and their relationship, because their part in this video is definitely my favorite one.
I hope you are not tired of videos about tiu yet ;p. Sorry, but I love this show so much and there are so many beautiful relationships that I wanna show in my videos ;p.

I love how they show how high functioning depression is really like and addiction and how someone can push down emotions for years until they finally resurface

I'm the poster child on how to not handle loss in a healthy manner. I block everything so far back to forget, but guess what? It eventually comes back with a vengeance to where there's no way out other than to go through all your 50 years of loss and anger and sadness 💔
I don’t think I’ve related to a character so much. Feeling the pressure of being the one who has to be great, that your problems are a burden to your family and that you are the odd one out. I grew up with the same feelings... He just keeps getting up and no one notices that he fell in the first place.

They have to show Kevin crying for months after his dad dies and not eating, so we could see deeper into his character.
I wondered the same thing.
I really grew to love Kevin this season. First season, Randall and Jack stole my heart. This season, Kevin and Jack have been the stars. I cried the hardest I have ever (until the fire episode) during the Number One episode. He really has tugged on my heart strings this season. I am excited to see where his story will go, but I have fallen in love with his story and he never fails to make me cry.
sophia dollar same here....Everyone see how good he is, everyone but him 😢😢😢. Everyone think that his life is perfect, that everything worked out for Kevin, that he doesn't fail. The therapy session made me feel bad...he always felt like the fifth wheel but no one noticed. I also felt that Randall was jealous of Kevin xD

I love Kevin so much because I relate to him more than any other character. I know what it feels like to go to extreme lengths to get the admiration and attention from your parents that you've been craving for as long as you can remember. To the outside world you can seem like you have everything, but you can't help the insecurity that stems from being desperate for your parent's approval or the need to make them proud.

I’ve only watched bits and pieces of the show but I’ve learned that jack was an amazing dad and Kevin is great,and as I am looking through the comments all of them are paragraphs and it almost makes me cry,how his story could be so relatable and that people cared so much about Kevin and Jack
Every once in a while, I come back to watch this video again: you captured the deep torment in Kevin's heart, that hate for himself and self-sabotage that broke my heart watching the show. Keep the awesome work!
Kevin is someone in our lives, the popular guy who has fans or haters. He is an amazing character, even I can't relate to. He has the funniest scenes but the scenes that make me cry loud are only Kevin's. He deserves so much better for this world and I understand why he is so obsessed with his father's death. Jack was the only pe(a)rson who truly knew him and Kevin was Jack's one child that he argues with most. In the end of the day, they had the best father-son relationship. Even they couldn't say goodbye to each other. Kevin said to Rebecca that he was gonna apologise his father on the next day. But on the next day, he was dead.

That monologue is perfection and this video just amplified that. Amazing.
I relate so much to the characters of this show on how difficult life is after you lose a parent too early. The shock, the sense of insecurity, the unresolved conflicts, all of it follows you for the rest of your life. If you are not equipped at the time to deal with the grief in a healthy manner, you push it down and then it keeps resurfacing regularly for decades. This can really make a person feel very alone in their pain, which in turn encourages them to shut down and not let people in, therefore making it harder to maintain long term relationships.
Kevin has always been my favorite. He holds a special place in my heart and his story absolutely shatters me. I hope we see more tender-hearted Kevin moments at the end of the last season. His and jack's relationship is adorable and I hate how it ended. Love this edit! You're a great editor!
For Kevin, the death of his father Jack is not a "simple" mourning: the fact is that this death causes him a sense of inner emotional loneliness, because the other people around him are not enough for him; His father was the only one with whom he had a mental understanding, and he was the only figure who truly motivated him. Losing Jack means for Kevin losing those reasons and stimuli to feel really good...Jack was the only one who "realized" him...he has always been Randall's shadow (due to the fact that he is black , and Kate, due to her weight problems). Luckily, Kevin then finds this figure in Sophie
This will always be my favourite show. Yes, I take long breaks between episodes cos I can't handle the emotional rollercoaster each one brings, but that's what we all deeply need. People, and emotions to tug at our hearts every now and then ♡

Kevin and Jack are are my fabourite characters too, well plus Randall, Randall and Kavins relationship in show is my favourite. Kevin in Number One episode made my cry so much he changed so much.

Kevin is my favorite character it just saddens me that people brush him off just because they love Randall as a kid so they end up hating Kevin for how he treated him. If I’m being honest grown up Randall annoys me lol he was sweet when they were little, but as a grow up he annoys me. Grown up Kevin is my favorite cause you see how much he has changed
Randall sometime annoys me too ;p. I like him, but I think that Kevin and Jack are so much better. And I feel sorry for how Kevin treated him when they were kids, but I don't really think it was Kevin's fault, he was just a kid and Jack and Rebecca should've talk with him, ask what he needs or think about what he feels, instead of blaming him all the time :/
For me Kevin is the deepest character on this show and I just love how they explore him this season
xxx they definitely showed signs of what was his problem in season 1, like when he said on phone to Randall "I care what everyone thinks" and especially the pool scene. They showed it a lot in flashbacks if you pay close attention but until this season they are really diving into it and exploring it fully. I kinda wish the therapy session was longer I feel like they needed more time there. Kevin definetly had his bad moments when he was a kid but I love how he was still showed his love for his siblings...like when he gave all his candy to that one boy so he would hold Kate's hand or when she needed surgery or when Randall was trying to find his mom. He showed more love to Kate though and part of that is because they are twins but another part I think is that although Jack payed more attention to her, he still made time for Kevin and Randall and they had their moments so he kinda is less jealous. But with Rebecca it was just all Randall all the time, the scene of her sleeping on floor is one of the only moments we get with them that isn't about them fighting or anything and Rebecca with Kate was always about her weight or singing. I feel like Rebecca handled the "favoritism" worse than Jack which is why the kids all 3 have a better relationship with him than with Rebecca
Yep, I saw that signs but I feel like many didn't and there was so much hate on Kevin during season 1. I feel like in season 2 more people finally understands him and don't hate him so much, he is now more likable.
I still hope that they'll show us more therapy session, maybe later, I just feel it was too quick. Besides this scene from therapy session showed that they all need that kind of help and some family meeting, not just Kevin, he is just the first one who admitted that he had a problem, but they all need to learn how to talk about Jack and this not perfect side of him, instead of pretending that there wasn't one, because even tho I love Jack so much and I love how he handled his drinking problem, it doesn't mean that it didn't exist.
I also noticed that Kevin and Jack had their moments, especially in season 2 with football and everything. I like Rebecca and I kind of understand her with Kate, I can see that she was trying, she just didn't really understand Kate and all, but she wanted to help and I kind of felt sorry for her, when Jack took Kate to get ice cream and Rebecca had to be the bad guy, again. She wanted good for her, even if this didn't always work out. But for Kevin she was terrible mother. I love scene in the cabin, I cry every time I see it and this is definitely one of my favorite scenes in the show, but there were just so many bad moments between them. I feel like for the most of the time she was there for Kevin just to blame him about the way he treated Randall, she was always expecting the worst of him (like with these glasses) and she was just saying to Jack all the time how bad Kev is. She could've just stop for a minute and think about why Kevin was treating Randall the way he did. It wasn't that hard to figure it out. I also remember this moment from season 1, when she knew name of Randall's NEW assistance but she didn't remember name of Kevin's play even tho he talked about it all the time. And then she is surprised that Kevin is angry teenager who hates her because of nothing. She was good mom for Randall and even for Kate, but she was terrible mother for Kevin and I hope that's also something they will explore more and maybe she will try to fix it.
xxx yea I saw the signs too, it was always obvious how she wouldn't listen to him and instead ask where his brother was or something. Kevin would always look down right after or avert his eyes and make a sad impression, they put the hints there in season 1 but didn't get into it which I wonder if it was on purpose so that the audience can miss the signs as well and overlook him just like the parents and then find out in season 2 that he has his own problems too and isnt perfect.
They definitely have dad issues all of them, the fact that Randall's wife whos he has known for years now can't talk about Jack or ever bring him up cause it "sensitive" shows that. Jack had a drinking problem and he said it himself, after he kept it in and tried to hide it from his children and wife for so long. It is not Jacks fault, it is just something he has that he can't control but even so it just means he is human and he has his own problems like anyone else.
I honestly can't find an excuse for Rebecca in the way she treated Kevin. I agree that she was a good mom for Kate and Randall, but I can't say the same for Kevin. Jack at least knew something was wrong with Kevin and his actions, he never understood why but he at least tried to talk to him and find out or he took them camping and tried to get the brothers to bond. Jack was at least there for him whwn he needed it, i mean Kevin getting injured in football could have been a moment where Rebecca could have talked to him since it was an important part of his life cause his whole life dream just got shattered cause of the injury. That is a big deal but instead it's the usual she relied on Jack to "deal with Kevin". And her being a female and "females dont know sports" isnt an excuse because she learned to love football and the superbowl so it could have been good bonding time too. Randall could have read a book by himself and she could have played with Kevin jack and Kate in cabin, but nope she wanted to read eith her favorite even though company isn't necessary for reading lol
I really loved Jack's drinking problem. It showed that he isn't that perfect and that he is just a human and I love him even more for the way he handled that situation, that he was trying to do something about, not just ignore it - for his family :).
I think I would maybe understand that if Rebecca was a bad mother for all her children, but I don't get how can she be so great for Randall, try so hard for Kate and be so awful to Kevin. I mean, what the hell did he do to deserve this? And then 30 years later she screams that she treated Kevin the way she did, because he wasn't that easy. Wtf? He was easy when he was just a kid, he just needed a little attention from her or support. He needed her to for at least once take his side or try to understand how he feels. That wasn't really hard. That got hard when he was teenager, but that's not her excuse, because he was so angry at her because of the way she treated him since forever. It's not an excuse, it can't be because it doesn't make sense, at all.
And I also was hopping for her to have her moment with Kevin after that injury. Even Kate and Randall showed him more support than her. She just called Jack and then she could basically go home, that wouldn't make any difference.

He's an asshole but he comes through for his family. Its a shame that he's had to go to extremes for them to really see him too.
