That’s one of the theories, the fire hawk theory has a lot more evidence but it’s an old theory recent lore see,s to show the legion as more warp based in nature than actual physical beings. The idea that the legion are the souls of dead space marines who continue to fight for the emperor, during the war in the webway Big E summoned a force of ghost Astartes to fight for him lead by what many consider to be Ferres. Another idea is that they are to the emperor what lesser demons are to the chaos gods, living saints like celestine are greater demons by comparison Another is that they are the collected belief of the people of the imperiums idea of what Astartes actually are as many will never see one in there life but will pray to them as the angels of death. I personally think is all of them
I had a theory that the firehawks where inducted into the LOTD unwillingly. LOTD had been logged in lore before the firehawks. LOTD could have been either one of the lost legions. Considering BloodAngels followed vampires. SpaceWolves are wearwolves. I can only assume one of the legions would be skeletons. They stole souls or fed on life force. They had to feed on other space marines and fed on the other lost legion. Hence, they had to be destroyed. They couldn't create more space marines, so they had to indoctrinate them from other legions. So the firehawk were unfortunately the next on the menu.
Takeaway from that is fan theory. So it is not confirmed it is just head cannon. Until GW makes a novel/codex about it. It will stay as just that sadly
Undoubtedly my absolute favorite Astartes chapter (if in fact they could be considered one in their current tacit, yet fiery form!).
We are Legion, and our enemies damned.
So says the deep state.
In dedicato imperatum ultra articulo mortis🔥
Hmmmm... It was the Flame Falcons that were the 21st founding chapter that had the spontaneous combustion mutation, I think 🤔
Yup alotta ppl get the two confused
what in the emperor are they doing to those poor astartes
I always thought they were Iron Hands dead at Istvaan and probably lead by Ferrus himself powered by Big E

Is it confirmed that the legion of the damned were the former Fire Hawks?
It’s highly implied. I’m new to the franchise but the common fan theory is that they are the Fire Hawks.

They are implied as the legion. But there was an entry before the FireHawks where lost, LOTD appeared before then. So there are conflicting theories.
@@conorwilliam2558they did do a novel about the legion of the damned in their space marine battles series, don’t want to spoil but it was hinted
'Legion Of The Damned' book from Black Library has a little sentence that kind of hints at it. But its such a minute detail its easy to miss.
