Three years later, I'm back to listen to this one again. Has anyone given much thought to this song? For the benefit of the young folks just discovering this today, I'll say that it sure hits differently when you realize that it comes out of a time when interracial relationships were still very, very frowned on in the United States.
It's no competition, but this version touches even more than the version with Ry Cooder from 1973. And the version from almost 50years ago was brilliant, this one is unbelievable. R.I.P Legend
Unbelievable! This guy is terrific on this James Carr song. I've heard this tune many times, but never like Terry Evan delivered it. What a soulful rendition . Absolutely excellent.
Ich habe Terry Evans vor 14 Tagen erlebt (zusammen mit Hans Theessink). Der Mann ist 80 Jahre alt und hat noch eine Stimmgewalt wie ich sie selten erlebt habe! Einfach grosse, grosse Klasse!
Been enjoying my CDs of Terry Evans for years but only just heard of his passing, over a year later and i am so, so sad about this. Must have listened to Walk that Walk a 1000 times. First time i have seen this video and it blows me away, his voice is as good as back in 1977 in the Old Grey Whistle Test Studio. So sad. How could i not have known?
Beautiful version, his delivery is so soulful and really hits home. I first heard his fabulous voice on the Ry Cooder albums and then the releases he did with Bobby King, all of his work was top notch. So sad to hear of his passing. Thank you so much for posting and reminding me of musics loss.
I backed him up on a gig in Pennsylvania at State College- festival of life > Maybe August 1998, 20 years ago...loved playing this and the set with him..
Ik luister en kijk vaak naar dit nummer van Terry. Het is zó mooi, zó gevoelig en met zoveel liefde gezongen. Samen met Hans Theessink hebben ze het nummer ook prachtig vertolkt.
Ohh you sing it like my heart is feeling it. Tears are non stop tonight. Listened first to Percy, Gregg, then this Master. Boy you really nail it. Blessed with voice. 💕
I`m so glad to know Terry. He`s one of the greatest voices that ever came out of Mississippi. I`m looking forward to see him performing in Silkeborg, DK on may 1, 2015. God bless you Terry ;-)
This may be the most consummate blues singing I've ever heard. I sung in blues bands for nearly 60 years - hearing this , why did I bother ? Ah, well .......
When you're born with it and deliver guts. You can't teach or buy it. These seasoned players deliver control, substance and silence...which is the sound of confidence in my book.
love it, love it! nowdays purist's music, but it's the real music. Terry's voice is unique and beautifull. Hope to hear of his new work with Bobby King and (wishfullly, Ry Coo...)
Classic recorded by many artists including the Alman brothers but my favourite is aretha Franklin’s version with Dan Penn and Chips Moman(writers) playing on it and recorded at Muscle Shoals.
Lars, For the song to work, you have to feel it and believe it. That's the way it is here. Also, with Aretha Franklin, Gram Parsons and Jimmy Barnes. Disappointing was Bruce Springsten and Tom Petty: they were more concerned with performing and missed the emotions necessary.
As a singer and a Ry Cooder fan I've marveled at this man's voice for many years. Such a loss. RIP

I knew from the first note, this is as close to heaven we will get
We already had the gig booked for him in Austria, featuring Hans Theessink, but the angels needed him for their choir... RIP
This is one of the best songs ever recorded, and this is one of the best versions of the best songs ever recorded, ever recorded.
Sometimes music hits you, and the world stops for some minutes! So happy to see Mr.Evans' still got it. Made my day

So Soulful! What a pleasure to be a part of that performance!
All wonderful musicians !
This is my favorite version of this song ever with Terry. Thank you for making it so amazing. Loved his music.
I had the honour of playing with Mr Evans many years ago. It was an unforgettable experience and one that I'll always remember with great fondness.
Did Terry Play Jazz guitar with Jimmy Smith?

Unbelievable! This guy is terrific on this James Carr song. I've heard this tune many times, but never like Terry Evan delivered it. What a soulful rendition . Absolutely excellent.
What a lovely voice; RIP Mr. Evans, God's gain is our loss.
Utterly sublime, thanks Terry (RIP), what a wonderful singer/musician this man was. His Delta Time CD with Hans Theessink is one of my favourites.

In VERY loving memory of the ONE & ONLY Mr. Terry Lee Evans (1937 - 2018 R.I.P. Gone but NOT forgotten).
My dream was to meet you once. You’re not here anymore, but your songs will stay in my mind forever.
Rest in peace Terry Evans.
What a voice! R.I.P. Terry Evans

Man that's a hell of a voice. Also, no pressure, buddy playing slide guitar...
RIP, Brother Evans - Singing with the angels.
Yes indeed, With Roy Hamilton and James Carr
Beautiful interpretation of this wonderful song, justice to the composer creativity!
Well, that was amazing.
Terry was one of the best blues artists ever I had the pleasure to meet him twice.
Never heard this before, what a great performance! My misfortune to just now discover such a fine singer and musicians!
absolutely incredible voice…i wish anyone could sing this well nowadays. people rely on technology instead of learning to really sing.
Yes Sir ... Rest In Harmonic Peace
The best version with words I have heard yet. A testament to humanity.
I`m so glad to know Terry. He`s one of the greatest voices that ever came out of Mississippi. I`m looking forward to see him performing in Silkeborg, DK on may 1, 2015. God bless you Terry ;-)
I need to see Terry again. Did he perform the show? His website hasn't been updated in a long time and he hasn't been to Chicago in years.

Phenomenal. Giant EARS on every player and Terry. In the pocket together. Mmm-hmm.
A hard song to sing!!! But this is absolutely brilliant!
