One of the greatest bands ever - bringing together of awesome musicians. You can feel the presence of the Holy Spirit guiding them sending us into a heavenly world. Walked into a mysic store in 1985 heard this playing on overhead speakers. I asked "who is that" to tge store assistant. I bought all their albums and the rest as they say, is history. Abe Laboriel, Justo Almario, Alex Acuna, Harlan Rogers and Bill Maxwell, Hadley Hockensmith. Absolute Legends. Forever music. Salute!🤗
I'm with you! I like ALOT of genres of music - they do it all. Plus, they are great people too! I first became acquainted with them in Bible College early 80's. They blew me away from the first note. I was playing guitar and a fantastic bass player I knew told me "hey you gotta listen to these guys." I played those cassette tapes until the magnetics were chewed off! I then bought more! During the same time frame I found a little unknown guy from "Blue Jug" - who opened up for Lynyrd Skynyrd, Charlie Daniels. etc., his name is Ed Ratzloft. You got to listen to his 2 Christian albums he produced! A Christian southern rock feel to them. I had forgotten his name, lost his music and tried for years to track him down. I finally just a few weeks ago searched an old CCM data base and it all came back to me! I found it. listen to his songs (all are good though!) "Every man" / "Praise Him" and "I've been down that road too" - you won't be disappointed I promise. Blessings!
I was lucky to see this line-up in 1984 in Gothenburg, Sweden, where the live LP was recorded. All of them are legendary. But most of all the music is. No-one just makes music like this anymore. It's just so sad. All the people in their 30/40's just have no idea. Let alone the millenials. I feel so sorry for them. They just don't have any idea.
Listened to this music for over 3o years, its today I can put a name on it for I received a cassette from a cousin from France with no title on it,its like today I Colombus rediscovered America

I have never seen a bass guitar played with a whole human body besides those genius digits... Abraham your a legend. Bill Maxwell unbelievable supporting act to Abraham. God bless to all of you. Alex wasn't to bad either.
Wow, I'm surprised at how loud the drums are mixed. Playing that loud they don't give space for everything else that is going on. It also sounds like there are no overheads. All you hear is close micing. It makes the kit too much in your face. I like what they are playing but its just missing character.
Excuse me ...... uhhh buddy .... it's already been recorded ! LOL! You're only like 36 years late!! Just enjoy the part that matters ..... the music being made!!!! I can hear every wonderful note(s) coming from all the players, and the guitar work is superbbbbbbb!! Mic Shmic take a hiyk ~!~
Sorry, but you're commenting something you obviously haven't got the faintest idea on what you're even commenting. Grow a pair of ears and study some of the music these guys recorded back then. There are eg 100's of Grammy tracks of Abe Laboriel of his own. For this stellar L.A. studio band this was just some whatever-gig in Germany in the 1980's. Try to admire the attitude they spread the real music in the real Rick Astley times - Rollin' much? 😉
@@imthezongz This is not about the players. The players are no doubt great. I have the Celebration CD from back then and went to a concert where they opened for Debbie Boone. (we were there to hear Koinonia) So yes I know what they sounded like then, both live and in the studio. I stand by the fact that the artistic expression is masked by the poor mix in this concert. I am surprised that players at this level would tolerate the poor mix. Quite possible they were forced to use the house engineer.

so did I, my first live band I have seen in 1985, when I was 14 y.o. many followed, but the first was the best :)
nothing compares to this great band
My favourite band and sound of all time... God bless Koinonia

First heard them on a cassette tape in 1984. Thank you for posting this video. The musicians are legends--exceptionally and terribly great!
I’ve still got that cassette tape!

The two of them established an unbeatable pocket!!! YEAH Alex wasn't too bad either.. He slipped in a few good beats. Snicker!!!!
Playing the Bass guitar more like a percussion
Legendary musicians. So young and so much energy. Nice memories from the early eighties
Outfits are unique too , today they would wear suits
And eg Alex A. is 40 yrs here. Looks young, yes.
Celebration has to be the most "fun" song ever. And since this band created the song, no one else could ever do it justice.
After so many years- always good again!
Love the Latin opening from Alex!
Thank you for posting my brother Abraham , and oh how I loved Harlan Rogers tune. God be with you bro
Great set and sounds! Brings back memories of the couple of times I saw them in the 80's in Southern California. God Bless!
Thank you so much for uploading this...wow!!!
Love it…though the expression “more cowbell” comes to mind 😊
Great video! Thank you for publishing this!
Cool entrance!
I love drums!
❤
Wow Johnny ... dunno I'd ever heard Harlan sing. Nice, clear voice and good range :-)
Great upload. Thanks for this!!
Alex the great
Harlan Rogers can sing! Hadley Hockensmith can play! Koinonia the best ever
Legends!
💙👍‼️🙂
Hehe...The guys looking at Alex Acuna in the start, and wondering what he will do now
Finally a real bass guitar!, anything over 4 strings is considered a guitar!
Abe played plenty of 5-string in his career as well.
@@j40bob1 and 6 strings. Lots of 5 and 6.
Besides, it IS in the guitar family. That's why it's called a "Bass guitar".
I play a 5-string myself
Why is Frontline not available in the United States?
Johnny where you there?
No I wasn`t there Sebastian

@@newmoon54 Probably produced by The Bruce Dickinson.
Can't get enough percussion.
