Catching up with the news and rumors from this past week in pro wrestling including a look at New Japan Pro-Wrestling's NJPW Strong Resurgence show from this past weekend.
Jon Moxley defended the IWGP Championship against "Shooter" Shota Umino in the "Last Exam" for his pupil while Eddie Kingston and Gabe Kidd battled in a brutal no-ropes Last Man Standing Match for the Strong Openweight Championship. Who made a surprise appearance and has the House of Torture signed its death warrant with the Death Rider?
In other news, AEW numbers see some relief, WWE sees some less-than-stellar numbers for Backlash, Triple H gets into it with the wrestling "media", and WWE sweaties praise Dave Meltzer and shun Cody Rhodes in the same week?

There were a lot of Roman/Bloodline fanboys that were talking about how Cody's reign would be boring and Roman should never lose it because of that. I'm noticing a lot of people saying it's stale or boring already are the same people or at least have tribal chief or similar profile motifs

I'm trying to only be positive online with wrestling. So what an awesome week of wrestling. I'm curious with the tag title situation. The STRONG mens and womens singles titles seem to be here to stay. But this tag hot potato thing is crazy.

I'm writing this cuz I know you MUST be disappointed in NJPW lineup now...I just saw the main event for Dominion and it's the BOSJ finals which is cool but this is reminding me of Tanahashi walking the aisle as IWGP Champ on a tna tv show...its losing it's respect the title itself....I guess it's a LOW point in NJPW...they need to get the title off of mox and give it to a njpw fulltimer... I'm sick to my stomach....any ideas?...im asking u cuz I always valued ur opinion for years
Hey, yeah I'm ... ugh ... this might be one of those years I just write off for pro wrestling. We're almost 1/2 through 2024 and outside of the first few months of WWE and a solid January for NJPW, this year has been a miss so far.
PPV buys are a comatose metric for WWE, they stream their shows in every market. The reason the Netflix deal doesnt start until January is because their international rights, which are also going to Netflix, are up in January.
I thought Takeshita was gonna show up and challenge Jon Moxley at Double or Nothing for the IWGP title
I'm relieved that ELP and Hikuleo recaptured the tag belts. i'd been worried that they'd lose this match and that would be the motivation for the team to split & Leo to possibly follow his brothers out of NJPW. This looks like the New GoD is on better footing.
I've been hearing a few sites report that Eddie likely hurt his leg. That's why it took him forever to get in the ring and for Jack Perry to come out. As soon as he took the bump, you could see his leg hit the barricade and him grab it. Although none of them said they had confirmation from Kingston or NJPW or AEW either way.
The ref kept throwing the ex up and there was one ref who ran to the ring in a panic to try and find the stretcher. All of the Academy students looked concerned.
Cody sucked in AEW and Im sure hell crash in WWE too

A bit of an update to the tag title scene:
At Dominion, there will be a fatal four way elimination match for both titles. Expect to see another run of title unification matches for the rest of the year.
Also, on MLW Bad Dude Tito has claimed the National Openweight Championship from Rickey Shane Page (Another guy you should keep your eye on). I give MLW props, they gave BDT a better run than New Japan ever did.
