Exactly what I was thinking lol. Hell, I'd take box set reissues of everything if they had outtakes, demos, maybe some live performances, and alternate takes and all that jazz. Touch And Go, pull throughhhh
I discovered this album when my parents' house burnt. I was 19 and we had to move to a hotel for a few days while sorting out the mess. On the room I got I found this Cd, which I listened to over and over and over and over again for months. This interview is GOLD and I thank you for allowing me to relive those intense and crazy times.
The 17 year old me is flipping out inside my 40 year old body. I used to trade vhs tapes with a guy in the states (im in Canada) to get Don Cab live footage. I wanted to know everything and info was scarce. I LOVE this. Thanks for sharing and thanks to Damon for giving up the goods.
Imagine waiting 3,000$ worth of computers to break into a house, just to find a stupid notebook. I wonder if the thief even knew the notebook belonged to Damon! That would be a fucking cool peice of memorabilia to have. I'd pay good money just to look at that (and give back to Damon lol).
you would know how much I love this group. I admire Damon and recently started learning drums. I want to play some songs from Waths Burns and American, but there are no tabs on the Internet, I'll try it by ear. But I don't know at all what time signature to set (4/4 ?:) ) and does it change?
Its been over two years, but off the top of my head most songs on AD use 7 and 5, some also taking place in 3, but can’t recall off rip if any can be counted in 9, and some in 11. What Burns’ Don Cab 3 starts in 5/8 (contiguous to no-one gives a hoot about FAUX-ASS nonsense) and transitions to 4 around the 3:30 stamp. In the Absence of Strong Evidence is - to the ear - convolved of two guitars playing in 3 and 4 and the drums playing in 4, idr at the moment if it switches to 3. Slice Where you Live is probably the most difficult to emulate because of how its opening passage in 7 is syncopated, and a later section of the song rotates between 4 and 5
"i dont know why we keep talking about faux ass nonsense" lemme answer: because it's a trackazo. i hope damon can do reversions of awesome songs like that that didnt sound live.

a van, not a house
Although 2 is my favorite Don Cab album I think What Burns is probably the band’s most notable recording.

Pretty much all 4/4
