Re. The philosophy of Royal Enfield, I imagine that the idea of a practical mode of transport was originally the m.o. of the early British bikes, where they were being designed as a workhorse for the average person? As cars became more affordable, bikes appealed to true enthusiasts and then became toys for most owners, who often owned cars as well. And bikes became more complicated, higher powered and more expensive. As someone who has never owned a car but always ridden bikes, Royal Enfield speak to me like no other manufacturer has in my 30+ years of riding. And I am sure that there is room in my garage for a Classic 350? The more I see of it, the more I like it.

True but if I may add further. Royal Enfield once India became it's main customer base read into Indian public's demands. They want a bike they can afford as well as multipurpose. You can take the hunter to the Himalayas or the Himalayan on a touring trip or the gt as a commuter. It can do anything at a cost of one bike. Of course the Himalayan is better for extreme terrains and hunter is better as a roadster but both can be used anywhere and arw as tough as a bullet (no pun intended) is it as powerful as nortons or triumphs or harleys? No. But bloody hell they are great bikes and no one would regret them. And as i write this I reached the part of rhe vid where he says exactly this so I feel stupid for writing it😅

Though from India, I never thought about RE during my younger days and rode a Honda small bike for almost 3 years and then got a car... However, the bike remained with me for a few more years for weekend riding.
Later, about 18 years ago, I totally gave up riding and never even thought about riding a bike in my life. I sold the Honda.
Then, a few months ago, I happened to pass a bike put on display at a movie theatre. It was the RE Hunter. As I ran my fingers on the tank, I could hear it speak to me, reminding me of my younger days.
Despite reservations from almost every person I discussed with, I turned up at the RE showroom, threw my leg over a few models, test rode the Hunter, Meteor and the Classic, and let the feeling sink in.
I am 58, and in India, 58 is not an age to toy with buying bikes as a hobby.
Then I came up on your channel and a few others as well. That's when it hit me. In the US and UK, you buy the RE as a small bike after riding more powerful ones. And I found lots of senior citizens going for RE classic....
That decided it for me. A bike now sits in the building basement, and I potter around on the weekends to unwind. And I am enjoying every minute I spend on the classic.

The cheap scooter stole the market when motorcycles (and motorcyclists) matured and moved up in life. Licensing laws don’t help I guess.
RE on the other hand never stopped making real motorbikes for people who need to go places. They are reaping their just rewards now.

It has always been this hot in Spain in summer. I remember riding through in the '80s. 40 degrees was normal. ''Critical'' is political. In 2003, it was 45 in southwest Portugal. That same day in Seville was 52. Twenty years ago!
Your experience on the 350 makes me wonder why I have bigger bikes. Especially in Thailand. I like the army green one or the desert sand one.

Had a test ride yesterday on a 350 meteor in Bristol. Such a great fun bike, a step down from my triumph Street triple but a step up in fun factor. I spent a good half doing figure of eights at the big empty cinema carpark , such an easy bike to ride, the turning circle is amazing, a quick blast up the M32 got to 70mph and it held there ok. Up to 55mph this bike is such a laugh it's addictive.

During the early 80s, Greece was one of my regular holiday destinations and I used to go island hopping. Athens was always blistering hot, regularly 40C plus and the hottest was 44C. It’s not unusual in urban areas, particularly cities to get extremely hot. It’s the mass of concrete and tarmac that retains heat, so it’s hot during the night.

While I get your point about biking for the masses and not focusing on ‘lean angles’ etc I’d say that plenty of people do like that. There’s nothing inherently wrong with wanting a powerful bike or wanting life saving tech. I myself ride a KTM 1290 SDR Evo and I love it.
I can appreciate the Royal Enfield but I hadn’t even heard of it and neither had any of the dozens of people I ride with. As for being ‘cool’, that’s about as subjective as it gets 😊
I think as bikers we just need to fully recognise that there’s many different tastes and approaches. Nonetheless, it looks like a nice bike for a lazy ride (but I’d miss the instant torque of my SDR). As tone often gets lost in text, I just want to confirm that nothing above is meant as anything other than my own musings (some would say rambling!).
    Stay safe, all the best.

I lived in Sevilla in the early 90s - 40+ degrees was fairly normal June onwards. I remember leaving a bar at around 4am and seeing a pharmacy clock / thermometer showing 42 degrees

I wish you'd shown a little more of the red building at the end. I walked past it in around April 2008, whilst visiting Valencia, everything was shut for the flower festival. When I saw that beautiful building, I thought it was a railway station 😂

Royal Enfield might have brought back motorcycling but unfortunately the EU and the UK has made being able to get a licence and get a bike difficult for newbies.

Another great video Freddie and I must say Monica does a superb job as your videographer! There's another retro bike, made in India ( I think) which no Western vlogger ever reviews or even mentions and that is the Honda CB 350. it looks like a 70s Honda, similar in style and shape to the old Honda Four 750 and 500s of the 70s when I was a teenager. Only one exhaust though.I'm buying one in the next few days. It's priced to compete with the RE Classic in India. so great value for money.I think it's on sale in Asia only unfortunately. I live in Taiwan. Thanks for your entertaining videos!

I totally agree with what you said because while watching
Itchy boots, the locals take the bikes on the most testing roads, and the bike just keeps tracking on and on even sitting two or three passengers, and those bikes don't cost thousands that's the kind of bike I want ?

It’s brilliant, isn’t it Ash🙂🤘🏼🏍️ There’s a brilliant video that recently went viral on Instagram of two huge KTM Adv bike riders stuck in thick mud in the middle of nowhere… the camera then pans over to a man whizzing past on a Honda Cub, road tyres, no helmet and a rifle on his back😆

Our last Summer 🌺 we’re I live I. Australia was pretty mild ( we only had 1 over 40 degrees 😂😂😂) it’s our winter 🥶 at present. Most of our summers are mid 30,s and a few over 40,s a few years ago we had 8 days in a row of 40 , one ☝️ day was 46 . Adelaide in Australia had 12 days over 49, I do love the Royal Enfield,s.

Bikes, like cars, have come too expensive, too complicated and too difficult to maintain. They are fabulous examples of advanced technology but when they go wrong, are impossible to diagnose (at home) and repair - anything that needs “fixing” has to be replaced, at a high cost and a long wait for the parts. Royal Enfield have changed all that - that’s why I bought a Himalayan over every other similar bike. 10,000kms in 18 months and not a single issue (wish I could say that for my Ducati - a beautiful bike but rapidly becoming a well polished “piece of art”).
