Look at the despicable Choas Worshipper bringing corruption and sacrificing untold billions of life for their master. Look at the horrifying endless swarm of Tyranids that won't stop until all is consume. Look at a peaceful imperial planets where there's joyful laughter and bright smile untouched by war... yet. Why do I fight indeed.
I know we see kriegsman for the meme of trech people goes brrrrr with shovel. But I like to think that this is what Kriegs is all about. They know what they are giving for humanity survival they are just numb to anything because if they dont do it none else will do so they answer the call...always I just love this song
A Krieger will die for the Emperor, but with that sacrifice it allows the normal citizen of the Imperium to be saved from the horrors of the Galaxy, and it is a tragic when those citizens don’t see how much sacrifice the Guardsmen.

They fight for one purpose only. They fight so that the emperor forgives them. Thus they set themselves on this 1 absolute purpose... And if the emperor uttered those words he'd literally shatter their one and only purpose/goal in life. Litteraly disabling them.

I mean imagine you're told your whole life you deserve nothing. You need to sacrifice everything for the sins of your ancestors. Then the big e stands and utters the words. You'd be elated for a bit. But what after. What purpose you got. Why would you fight so ferociously if the goal you've been engrained with was achieved. Unless the priesthood there finds a new spin to their kind of imperial cult. Then the corps wil dissapear due to lack of devotion. Becoming one of the other regiments that are good. But not the krieg we know
