That’s a lovely film. I would regard him as Irish at this stage. Great to see Andy getting the recognition he so richly deserves. Planxty set the standard for Irish music and they’ve never been bettered. A fantastic singer and musician. May he ‘never tire of the road’.
His song The West Coast of Clare is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. I met a beautiful Kinvara girl in Dublin and she told me about Co Clare's West Coast. Many times we visited it, for 3 years. That was 30 yrs ago and haven't seen her since those wonderful times.
I am glad to see that Andy Irvine is good and well. I had the pleasure of seeing Andy Irvine perform many years ago in Rollinsford, NH of all places. I couldn't believe my good fortune at the time....still can't.
I think what he means is that when he started it was all new and exciting but with the passage of time that feeling has worn off and it has just become something he does. He still loves it but it just isn't the same. Even as a fan I feel the same way. When Planxity started it was incredibly exciting but now that style of music has just turned into a genre. It is still great but it isn't new any more.

Such a sweet video.
Mr Irvine is a legend, it's so nice to see he's still enjoying himself. x
Andy is truly wonderful, what more is there to be said.

Legend
One of the greats of Irish traditional music, regardless of where he came from (in fact, that probably helped!)

He was born and raised in England
London is in England.
"It's become a different thing in the last 50 years." I wonder what he means?

@@grahamsquires6964 thanks for that. Did you notice his statement about being on an island and missing live performances?
