  • This week we visit the famous River Trent Stoke Ferry Road Stretch for a mornings stick float fishing in the superb outfall swim only to have to share the fishing with four Cormorant's who are experts at 'bagging' up. I hope this film gets people talking about the Cormorant fish damage issue and how to manage them via the Governments website, follow the file paths/links to understand the existing rules.

    I remember an article in the Angler's Mail many years ago by Tom somebody who managed a trout lake. In one tongue in check article he was talking about a new shotgun he'd just bought and how it kept going off indiscriminately. The article had a photo of about a dozen cormorants laid out in a nice neat row.

      Hi David, would love to see that article. Fortunately we now have ways of managing them via new Government rules and regulations in place to support fisheries and their livelihoods.

      I think the cormorants would feed in the swim even if you were feeder fishing. Lots of small fish in clear water so great easy sport for the cormorants

    Great videos you are producing. Question: How often and what quantity of hemp do you feed?

    • @nottsfishingkbtv402
      @nottsfishingkbtv402  3 роки тому +2

      Feeding varies but 1 - 2 pints of hemp is the norm, only around 1/4 of a pint of tares.
      Feeding every run through with the float, so very frequently

    The Cormorants have been there for years now, they made a big difference when they first arrived, but having watched your video, there doesn't seem to be a great shortage of fish there. Annoying for anglers if they work your swim, but overall affect on population seems to be minimal

      Hi William, apologies for the late reply, just catching up on missed messages. Two years on in this swim, similar to Hoveringham and there seems to be less Roach there at the moment. More Pike and Cormorants though.

      I watched an adult otter fishing on the Beeston Canal near Boots recently for about ten minutes. Mixed emotions here. I can appreciate seeing these back along the Trent valley but there will be a substantial impact on fish stocks.
