- His Eminence, Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke, offered a Pontifical Solemn High Mass (Traditional Latin) at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse, Wisconsin, in Advent.

Cardinal Burke, thank you. Thank you for this most holy and reverential Mass. It is the Mass of my childhood. I attend now, whenever it is offered. But, I need so much help in following. It was second nature as a child but we have come so far away from it. Please, offer instruction. I have re-learned my prayers, Pater Noster, Ave Maria, Gloria, Sign of the Cross, but, now I want to understand the mechanics of the Mass. Please help us. I know there are so many more like me. good news is their are some very good books out. I did not grow up with the TLM, extraordinary form but am leading and going over it. The good news is their are both great books and also great people who have broken it down. Maybe it is just me but their is more books and such being made to explain the extraordinary form then the new mass form.... funny.
Hello, it’s wonderful you attend the Latin mass, I was the same way and a little confused on the reason of the prayers and the layout of the mass as well, I recommend reading the book The Latin Mass Explained, it will explain everything in the mechanics of the mass and the reason of the mass. Again the good news is now we have a lot of good and solid things to look at. And most people who enjoy the TLM are more than happy to help and give pointers.

May our Lord Jesus Christ protect Cardinal Burke and the right of Apostolic Catholics to adhere to the Word of God. May our Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on those who react the the Sacred Rites & Holy Orders Jesus taught us. I am hurt by the irreverent comments below that insult Cardinal Burke's devotion. Most damning is the blasphemous attacks on ancient tradition, rejection of the true Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in the Holy Eucharist.

People like you always remind me of Judas Iscariot’s words when seeing a woman anoint Jesus’ feet with expensive oils: “but that oil could be sold and used to feed the poor!”, only to be called out by Christ. Of course Judas, a man of no faith, would think affording Jesus Christ the treatment of a king, as is done in liturgy with elaborate vestments like the ones worn by Cdl.Burke and many other prelates (you do realise he doesn’t wear that outside of the liturgy when he’s out and about, right?). In the 21st century when we've gone to the moon and know about Mars, all this vestments and rituals are of no value.
Traditionalists claim that the TLM revolves around and centers Christ. After watching this, I've come to the conclusion that the TLM actually revolves around and centers on the priest (in this case the Cardinal). Too many attendants, too much bowing and genuflections and way too many articles of vestments for the Celebrant to wear and to change into and out of! The Congregations is there not, necessarily, to worship God but to observe and be silent for the most part. I'm glad of the changes that Vatican II instituted (I was an altar server before and after Vatican II), and I especially love the Mass being celebrated in the vernacular, in a liturgy that is much simpler, yet still reverential, and with the people of God participating fully, in communion with the priest, and in their own language, worshiping the Lord, singing and praising him together with some Latin phrases and prayers springled into the liturgy! At least that's what I experience at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Sacramento, California! I acknowledge that too many times that the NO has invited some really ridiculous innovations at some churches, but I have also observed many NO Masses to be inspirational and where my fellow parishioners and I join together with the Priest, who, acting the 'persona Christi', we worship God with joyful reverence and humility!
