The "s" rune in germanic paganism also represents the sun and the SS was a reflection of that german identity. The swastika symbol itself is two crossing sowilo "s" runes

1) He's not a hero there. So I am NOT wrong.
2) That's not the actual Sentry. The Sentry is currently "buried" in the Sun. This copy, and you yourself so much a admit this is a copy, ergo NOT the actual Sentry, doesn't have the same insane level of power as the real Sentry or else everyone would be dead and gone already. Consider who made the doppelgangers, if they could make a guy that powerful why would they even bother with being nice?
3) I never said the Sentry was dead.
DocWolph I'm actually done reading the four tomes of Uncanny avengers, and while sentry didn't seem very powerful/serious, it seemed like it was indeed him, as he mentionned going through a cycle of dying to the sun the reviving to instantly die after.
But compared to the sentry in world war hulk or in Dark avengers and marvel siege, he seemed pretty "weak" (he still was on par with a Rogue that absorbed the power of every heroes and mutants)

And the best part that he was a schizophrenic and delusional best kind of wild card super hero that writes comics, hides his past memories by making comic books of his past.
Actually if I remember correctly he was a thrill seeking teenager who sought out the science lab in order to huff something a little stronger than what he had been doing. And instead of it being a serum as described by this narration, it was a revival of Captain America's serum which was once again lost when Robert huffed it. Instead of being injected as usual, it was snorted and the agent went straight to his brain causing him to bring his imaginations to reality. That is why there are 3 essential entities to The Sentry. One who is the hero (his fantasy) Bob (his believed reality) and The Void )his nightmares) you can kill one, but never all, and thus the one who has died shall always return.
The Sentry is one of comic books` most underrated characters. THANK YOU Watchmojo for doing this. This will help the character greatly.

He is basically a combination of Superman and Devil May Cry's Dante. He is Marvel's Superman only A LOT BETTER and not OVERRATED like the real Superman but also has a dark side that makes him powerful enough to rip gods in half.

I felt sorry for Sentry for that reason.
Sentry's story would do well for a movie, I love his story line.
What would be a great twist in that movie is if the Sentry was a hero before even Iron Man made his debut, and was considered by Fury to be recruited for the Avengers until everyone forgot him.

Sentry is easily one of my favorite Marvel characters. He has great power and great torment and he touches upon living with the struggle of mental health and addiction even though he also possesses incredible power.

So to defeat the void he needs to remember that his memory is the void so he needs to forget his memories so the void goes away so he can start questioning it again and making the void grow again? Confusing

It's a cycle, until eventually he realised he has done this so many times he has to find another way to kill the void, which could mean a real death and not fake death this time
I feel like The Sentry and Spider Woman (among others) are some of the most underrated heroes. They need more stories, and with time I think people will come to enjoy them, I know I do.
Sentry is a character that can either be really dumb or really badass depending on who is writing him. When he goes toe to toe with the Hulk in World War Hulk that is insanely badass. Other stories of him not so much.
The original mini-series (which we adapted into a film), is still the best incarnation of The Sentry!
Actually the Sentry's power source is also described as the effect of his molecules being accelerated an "instant ahead of time", effectively making him ahead of the universe and becoming a god-like being that can bend reality to his will.
His real power is nothing like Superman and is far beyond him.
He is one of my favourite heroes simply because of how meta he can be, he is his own enemy, his own alpha and omega, a being completely out of this universe.

In essence, he is like the Joker, no one will ever know their true origin because even they themselves don't know.
And when someone talks about 'lack of creativity', you know that this person has absolutely no idea how creativity works. As an artist, I can tell you that 'creativity' is a term professionals describe as stealing from other artists. Steal Like An Artist, read that book, it may help you understand a little.
Agreed! And ***** , it's not so much a lack of creativity but a collection of convoluted stories from a bunch of writers who didn't know what to do with him. ***** Exactly. Marvel's "fan base" accepts & respects their powerful characters like Sentry, Hulk, Silver Surfer, & The Vision. But it's DC's own fan base (primarily Batman fanboys) who hates on their powerful characters like Superman (yet they never bash Martian Manhunter for some reason). Then of course there are Marvel fanboys who jump on the bandwagon of Superman-bashing, which is sad. At the very least, DC's "fan base" should have unity & respect their characters like Superman and other powerful characters.

I remember reading a World Hulk comic where the Hulk was defeating all of the heroes for sending him into space. Eventually they had to get the Sentry to beat him. He was reluctant at first, but he ended up beating the Hulk. That's the first time I saw him.

i believe it was a tie, symbolism of the two.. sentry wanted to lose because he couldnt control his power, and hulk wanted to lose because he couldnt control his rage (i.e. why he says stop me before i break the world)
It's funny that a condensed five minute video of a heroes origin makes everyone think that they're a expert on that hero and that they can conclude whether or not the writing is good or bad.
sentry has more depth than superman hes a forgotten tragedy with a dark side and ended his existence with self sacrifice. superman is the typical superhero whos really boring but he is pretty much the one who set the standard for superheros but hes still boring.

Superman is deep too. A guy who is literally an alien and lost his planet and have the potencial power to destroy or enslave the human race but was raised to be good so he helps people. I think this is really deep.

+ALISTER FOLSON The original run of Dark Avengers concluded with Norman Osborn (Iron Patriot) leading the DAs in the Siege on Asgard. The Void became the biggest threat, and when he lapsed back into Robert Reynolds, he begged Thor to kill him. Thor refused, but then he turned back into the Void and kinda forced the issue.

Did we read the same comic? Because Sentry was depowered in that fight and still had the upper hand. An actual fight between Hulk and Sentry at his peak would end badly for Hulk in a matter of seconds.
underrated superhero. this guy needs a movie like suspense thriller in which he investigates himself and finds out about himself and again does the sacrifice.
This is quite possibly my favorite hero of all time. His storyline is so complex and thought provoking. His comics tend to test one's logic and reasoning. Who knew you could develop a super hero who could potentially end existence and the comic have little to do with actual fights! GENIUS! This is why I want to curb stomp the idiots who claim he is a Super-Man knock off. They have NOOO clue what they are talking about!

The Sentry has beat World War Hulk into Submission, he's defeated all X-Men, Avengers, & Fantastic 4 as Void, he's ripped Ares the god of War in half & he's killed Loki right in front of Thor. And despite being killed multiple times he always comes back.

It's weird how comics team up virtual cotton-men superhero's with god-like beings like the Sentry. "Strength of a million suns"? How could the Avenger's possibly contribute anything meaningful besides catering services?

Dr. Manhattan can control molecules at a subatomic level so he do anything from turning fire hydrants to butterflies to turning bullets into snowflakes.

He is capable of manipulating molecules. That makes him pretty much all-powerful. He can fly, has super speed and super strength. He can shoot energy beams, teleport around, create force fields. He has strong telepathy and empathy with which he can make people forget and ignore things and he can also send them in a shock-like state. He can heal and resurrect people. He can turn invisible and probably do other things I've forgotten about.

Sentry's greatest power is his written inconsistencies.. he is like Silver Age Superman (the guy who could sneeze away entire solar systems and blow out stars) but with the twist of being a schizo, so often times writers just make him go crazy and leave the battle field or just to end it quick give him a new power (like being able to bring people back to life or whatever).
As a big Superman fan, I believe Sentry can tear him a new asshole.

Tristram Greenhalgh I say this because after reading World War Hulk the Sentry can pretty much destroy the continent in a big fight. And yes Superman isn't invincible, he's had his ass kicked plenty of times without kryptonite.

Marvel Man the British knock off of Captain Marvel. They now own the rights of marvel/Miracle Man but it's the almost origin that Alan Moore did with MarvelMan. Man has a nightmare waking up his woman in bed with him and realize that he's an old superhero from the past. It's beyond Supetman.

Didn't he go Crazy? And didn't Thor have to Kill him or something? Someone had to kill this Superman'ish character at the very least. Would be cool to see a movie series on this charcter. Starting at this point of him finding out who he was. And then later on they could make a prequel series about hes younger days. This hero would be cool to see on screen... At the very least if they go that rout whit him going crazy and having to be killed.

The Sentry is a Hero? The guy is a schizophrenic drug addict that broke into a lab looking to find the ultimate high and boy did he find it, like his wife Lindy said, "I should have killed him on our wedding night." He may have played the hero for a while in the New Avengers and defeating the Hulk in WWH, but the guy killed Ares, Loki and single-handedly destroyed Asgard, that's why Thor kills him. He deserved to be in the Top 10 most powerful comic characters for sure tho.

Sentry is without a doubt hero, he's just very unstable and needs help, how would you feel like if you instantly became a God and have the world on your shoulders, Sentry is the more real version of that thing exactly, a normal man gaining power to end all life in the universe and that bothers him greatly, which is exactly why he was forced to such sacrifices as erasing his memory despite the fact that he's the greatest hero ever to have lived in the Marvel univers (it's been said so several times) and on another note, Sentry genuinely believed what he was doing was the right thing when he attacked Asgard but also his Void side was starting to corrupt him, Sentry is a very cool concept and a character and I really wish him back to the Earth 616 or hell even alternate realities stories like "What if Sentry staid with the New Avengers instead of Dark Avengers" would have been cool :)

It's a little unfair for people to say that the Sentry is just a rip off of Superman. For fuck same Superman is basically god with an almost uncountable amount of powers which change it strength depending on the writer. By this logic we can't have any superhero's that can fly, that about half there, no heat vision so cyclops is screwed. I can't be bothered to go on, so can we just agree to be grown ups just this once?

sentry was an up and coming favorite when he was a homeless schizo with the powers of superman. i thought that could have made for very engaging introspective story lines. When he ripped carnage in half, i was like wow. but then they kept bungling his already ridiculous origin. just tell us he's a schizo superhero who can't even remember his origin, and get a good writer to make him interesting again. sentry should have been ripping people in half left and right. i liked how good guys and bad guys were terrified of him, especially when he was having an episode.
