I can confirm, having an education in tailoring and dressmaking , 20 days for such a collection is absolutely impossible!!! Fabrics are made especially for such collections , the pattern making , cutting , preparing, fitting ( making toiles ) embroidery, styling ect ect … 20 days is just IMPOSSIBLE!! And it not only disrespecting all the hard work by Virginie , but also mokking the expertise and hard work done by all the artisans in the ateliers .
Haute couture can NOT be done in 20 days !! Never !!
And it worries me that all those “ fashion “ magazines dont know what they are talking about !

The decline of the double C company is at least great for Karl's historic reputation - It cements his tenure as a golden age, never to be repeated. The designs and shows of his era will appear even more magnificent as time goes on

I've not been a fan of Virginie designs because they seemed to focused on wearability and have not been directional IMO
!! ! BUT as a designer myself I appreciate her increasing profits for Chanel !! I'm heartbroken how terribly Chanel management treated a 30 year employee, who supported and made sure the last 30 years of Chanel were a cash cow for the owners and stock holders!! Corporations are THE ENEMY of humanity like vampires sucking the life out of anyone with talent!! Until we support each other and demand politically equality WE ARE DOMMED !!!!

The idea of Jack Moose for Chanel...is laughable at best!
It's a very poor business decision for Chanel not to credit VV for her final collection. Who can trust them on anything after this? Pavlovsky has been quoted as basically saying that VV was great, but it was time to move on and focus on the future.
My guess is that The Baconator and VV had serious words, and VV quit. The Baconator then rushed about trying to quickly erase all traces of VV.
If the company knew what it was doing it wouldn't be in this situation. Let them design by some dreary committee. It'll be a bore and a hoot!
No shade to Jacquemus, but the secret to their popularity with the young and trendsetting set, is as much about price point as it is about design. I love fun Jacquemus looks, and I don’t expect meticulous hand craftsmanship from them, but I won’t pay Chanel prices for Jacquemus. And I don’t look to Chanel for an impulse experimental party look. This might be a case of a very big mismatch.

I’ve been pondering over this and the worst thing that corporate could do is to close down their atelier because if they do that then it wouldn’t be Chanel anymore. The second worse is the AI thing and the third worst is losing Virginie and her seamstresses.
The brutal truth is that in a few months no one will care about what happened anymore. The new designer will come, everyone will want to have a piece of the new collection because new designer. And all this dirt will be forgotten.

I don't get it. Profits have been off the charts since she became creative director. Why mess with the formula? I would be keeping my golden goose pampered in a 24K gold diamond encrusted CC cage.
If I were Chanel I would have asked Virginie to at least stay until the show then bow out. It was just a weird show without a creative director. It felt cold and left a bad taste on what was a somewhat good collection. Virginie not being there felt like a cloud over the collection

I can't imagine what it must be like to be in Virginie's place. It has to be humiliating for her. I feel sorry for her as a person - especially if she's not allowed (by contract) to defend herself! And a lipstick for the guests showing up? A lipstick? You can go to the Chanel beauty counter and get a small size as a sample! That's insulting. I a not a fan of Chanel clothing - I've had pieces that I've ended up consigning. However, this is a high profile person who must not be able to speak & an extremely famous brand not speaking, well, that says a lot about mgmt.

And I doubt any new CD would change Chanel bags much, at least at first.) Jacquemus fashion can be more sexy, edgy, younger-adult oriented outside of just being less expensive than Chanel RTW. So if that’s their new direction it’s a pretty surprising turn! Be nice if ANY of their absurd pricing goes down!

Virginie was the best things happening for Chanel after Karl was gone. When someone like her knows the DNA of a brand, one should not let her go. I loved her designs!! They where fresh, original, classic all at the same time, including the latest Marseille Cruise collection that most did not love. She proposed a sporty, light, summery, fun option in that collection. The only thing i hated was the shoes that truly did not fit with those outfits. The rest was really fun. Never the less, it is so sad that Chanel as a company, n'a pas louangé Virginie. I personally am turning my back on Chanel. All fashion houses are crap now. The moment a fashion house talks about profit, productivity, they lost me. Whenever a fashion house is on the stockmarket, it is no longer luxury. Thank you Jacob for updating us and discussing this drama, this horrible treatment of their top employees (allegedly lol).

No one work for a company for 37 years would just walk out, she dedicated her life there!!! I can’t help but think the CEO is a willing scapegoat in this disastrous decline of chanel. It is incredibly odd that a former HR head is the official lead of a major fashion brand. If anything, her purpose most likely is to flush out the old guard who wants to preserve the brand and if anything HR would know how to handle getting rid of employees. This also aligns with rumors of the possible sale of chanel in general. As you have always said Dacob, business and creativity rarely mix well.

Yep, she was present at the venue in function of a sort of liaison to the haute couture clients.
I do understand that Haute Couture takes quite a long time to conceptualized and put together…now…this last couture collection was a complete 360 from the last few collections in general! And it was excellent compare to the atrocities she created in the last couple of years. I know she was Karl’s right hand woman and understood the house DNA. Sadly her interpretation was not up to par!

I think that insta is actually from the company. The comany wants to show her that they still own her. Hence why she doesn't have connections to Channel, but the account is still there and it says Channel. It's a way of reminding her of who owns who.

You should always conduct yourself with class in business. C denying VV worked on the latest collection shows their true colors imo..and i knew the name of the potential replacement but not familiar with his work. He is not on my radar. 1st thing i noticed when researching is the sloppiness of his designs. Runways look wrinkled, sloppy. Saw a bag listed from a major dept store that sells high end..it was crooked! Definitely does not look like someone interested in the quality of their work imo. At this point the only thing that would get me interested in C company is them being able to resurrect Karl, or Lee McQueen from the beyond as creative director. Its over.
