    Ahhhhhh, you’ve answered my question - “the pin gets squished”. For the life of me I couldnt see how this would work... Thankyou so much. Where would we be without UA-cam instruction vids? Probably still sitting here looking at the kit and assuming they’ve sent me the wrong parts....🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

    Thanks Diane. I have used Kam snaps on garments but haven't tried on other materials. I was drying my hair this morning and thought how I need a cord keeper for it, but too much time involved with sewing fabrics and Velcro. Now I will cut a bit of cork and use a Kam snap. Marvelous. Just a few minutes effort.

    Thank you Diane! I've been successfully using KAM snaps on my projects for several years now and have both the hand held pliers and table press for plastic snaps, metal rivets and metal grommets (I use a Crop-a-dile Big Bite to punch the holes). You get a bigger reach with the table press (and it's easier on your hands then the hand held). The plastic snaps are also available with a longer prong for thicker items. Look forward to seeing how you use them in future videos!!

      Brilliant thanks Terry, I'm definitely going to get hold of the dies for the table press, and maybe some of the longer prong snaps too. Great info, thank you x

    I got these from amazon. No instructions. The 1 st video I saw was ritz no words no explanations no names of female or male fastener no talking at all couldn’t see the snaps up close. Yours was explanatory not fast you did it on a couple of things and now I know the female from male fastener and you should’ve had your video with amazon attached . Thank you for figuring it out. Also, thanks for showing us there’s many sizes of snaps. I saw how on that spritz video they unscrew the caps and spring to put the bar tool in but we didn’t need that at all. Your ace brilliant😺👍

    Thank you for the tutorial, great explanation of how to use it, which parts to use where, etc. I would, however, mention not to press too hard on the machine. The bottom bit where you place the cap is not that strong.
    You do not need too much pressure to get the KAM together.

    Thanks Debbie, have been using them on various projects now. Brilliant on thin leather, card, etc. Just be carefull if you are using materials such as hand or machine knitted woolen items to use a backing as the snap will just pull away and ruin your project.

    hi Diane, you can buy Kam snaps with longer prongs for thicker fabrics, you can also buy metal kam snaps...never tried them I would assume you need a different tool for fitting them though.....buying the cheaper ones can be risky as many are really poor quality, lots of people use them for baby clothes so better to buy genuine ones that rarely fail than cheaper ones that are less reliable....if you buy genuine ones, they come in four sizes x

    I bought a couple bags for guy gear projects from Hobby Lobby. I was disappointed with the two tools for securing them. Used a punch and hammer without success as well. Next attempt will be to melt the tack center with a soldering iron. I will grind, and file to shape the tip just right. I think that might be the working solution for those of who might not order or find that good tool locally..

    I currently have plastic snaps. They have not been consistent. I go through so many snaps before they go in. Even when I think they are snapped, they fall out after being washed and dried. I am looking into changing to KAM to see if they offer better snaps.

    Just like you I have had 3 tools and thy are all the wrong ones. So I saw a video the other day and it looked easy , and I tried but my tool is not right it does not squeeze the point down it pushes it to the side and on the cap it actually presses it almost out and brakes the whole thing. So I am fed up with my tools 🛠 that I have. Need to go and see if I can get the right one this week. I love the snapper if only I knew how to use it years ago.

    I can't get the point to squish, it kinda bends off to the side. it then blocks the fastening and makes it useless. How do you get it to squish perfectly?

    • @SpencerOgg
      @SpencerOgg  3 роки тому

      Check your pliers are set correctly for the cap size and the correct grommet is installed. Also there are some cheaper sets on the market that arent quite as good, so without seeing it, it's quite hard to say for sure. Sorry I can't help more

    Does anybody know that if you squeeze too hard you can do something to make the snap not work right? Because I put some snaps on my granddaughters dress but they don’t make a nice clicking snap sound when I close them together and they come undone very easily. Maybe they were just faulty snaps but they are Kam snaps.If anybody has any advice on this I’d be happy to know it. Thank you
