This is a great walk just on the outskirts of Grasmere. The Lion & Lamb is a famous landmark easily visible from it's base. I hope you enjoy it. More info in the description. Thanks for watching 🙏😃⛰

A very underrated round but one that is always boggy, even in the summer. I did it with a friend 2 years ago, the exact same route as you and we also ended up in the Travellers Rest but we were lucky as the ground was mainly frozen but also had a bit of mist too. When we got to Helm Crag my friend climbed to the top of the Howitzer and stood up on the top. I was so inspired I was going to give it a go myself but given she was 35 years younger than me and her boot size was 5 instead of my 11, I decided against it in the end! Cheers Alan

Nice one Alan, the walk between Steel Fell and Calf Crag takes some negotiating and I'll bet it was easier when frozen. Still, good fun and it is a run with great views, clag depending.
I did think about scrambling up Howitzer but felt it was pushing my luck on a wet day. Always good to end up at the Travellers Rest next to a real fire with a pint!

Thanks mate, if you walk past the travellers rest and head down the next left you can miss the muddy field I start in and join the walk at the river. Enjoy, it’s a great walk ⛰️

Did this round in May and loved it but that section between Steel Fell and Calf Crag was a nonstop bog of doom. Would love to do this one again sometime.

It's a great trip out. You are right, unrelentingly boggy on that top section, but great fun nontheless.

Hi Tony, absolutely brilliant mate. You certainly had better weather for this walk than we did a couple of weeks ago. We saw bugger all at no point. 🤣
Thanks for showing me what I missed! 👍
    All the best, Dave 😀🥾⛰

Cheers Dave. It was a great day and hopefully the cloud base rises soon. Another low one for me tomorrow but a very interesting one. Have fun out there mate 😎😁👍

Great views for a pretty low level walk, I'll have to do that one, what's the total distance appx?

Cheers mate. It is a good one to do when the cloud base is low and the big ones don’t have views. It was 12km but if you go off the steep decent off Helm Crag towards The Travellers Rest if will be more like 10km⛰️⛰️⛰️⛰️
