    Maybe the manufacturer or installer can chime in but I do not think this fan was designed to be exposed to the weather. Instead of removing the plastic crawl space vent screen ideally the T7 would have been installed behind it to prevent the unit from being exposed to driving rain. Other similar systems feature a through wall stem exhaust vent damper that connects to the fan which is mounted out of the elements within the crawl / basement. If I am incorrect about my assumption I apologize. Thank you for reading.

      I think your probably right on this. I've been keeping an eye on my fan and it doesn't seem to be getting wet or dirty but I do plan on making a small eave of sorts directly above the fan to keep water away.. Or maybe a little box of some sort..

      @@WesleyAllenNC I would verify with AC Infinity tomorrow. If my assumption is correct I would install the fan on the crawl space side of the 2x4 frame immediately to eliminate the risk of an electrical fire.

      Both fans blow in the same direction, so if its mounted in a wall of one room, it will essentially pull air through itself and into the next room. It's a standard wall plug..

    Do you just hard foam cap the vent space in the winter?

      I did, but them got lazy last winter and left it in place..

      For air-sealed crawlspaces, theoretically, the fan keeps your crawlspace under negative pressure, pulling conditioned (e.g. dryer) air from the first floor and preventing crawlspace air from diffusing upwards into the occupied living spaces. For these effects to work, the fan needs to run 24/7/365. That's why the fan includes an anti-freeze feature (the fan shuts off if it gets near freezing temperatures).

    How do you know what size fan to install for square footage? My house is 2,500 SQ feet.

    • @WesleyAllenNC
      @WesleyAllenNC 3 роки тому

      The air titan t7 has a max output of 240 cubic feet per minute (CFM). General rule of thumb is 1 cubic ft per minute, per 50 square feet of crawlspace. So you should be fine with this fan on a lower setting than full blast. 2500 square feet divided by 50 = 50 cubic feet per minute required..

      I’m slowly removing all storage items and plan to clean duct work, plumbing pipes and underpinning this winter. I’ll be looking more into vapor barrier installation after that

      Good video. I encapsulated my crawlspace. I have a Tjernlund V2D vent fan similar to your T7. Get a dehumidifier in there to dry everything out while encapsulating.

    What’s the coverage how many square feet’s? Do you think one can make a 1800 house

    • @WesleyAllenNC
      @WesleyAllenNC 3 роки тому

      It’s rated at 240 Cubic Feet Per Minute (CFM). The rule of thumb that I’ve learned is 1 CFM per 50 Square Feet of Crawlspace. Seems like they would need to calculate cubic footage but the EPA only concerns square footage..

      I’ll have to double check. I slacked off on the upkeep after it cooled down in my area for fall. I also bought a hygrometer to check humidity and temp in the crawl space cause I’m not sure how accurate the air Titans temp probe is just yet. I plan on using it very soon

      @@y2k1307 I found out that my crawlspace only really has humidity issues in the summer. (My AC air handler is in the crawlspace so it makes it sweat). So now I’m the summer I’ve began plugging up all of the foundation vents with Fiberglass insulation, and then using this fan on 1 vent in the corner of the house to pull air out and mitigate any potential radon gas.. then in the Fall/Winter, I remove the insulation batts and turn off the AirTitan fan.. hope this helps

      @@WesleyAllenNC I have the same issue, humidity in the summer, normal during the winter and fall. What i am trying to determine is if while running the fan during the sumer months, didt you realized any change with the humitiy levels or did they stay the same making the fan really useless? Thanks man.

    • @WesleyAllenNC
      @WesleyAllenNC 2 роки тому

      @@y2k1307 I’ll get back under there this weekend and check. I know the humidity dropped once I plugged up the foundation vents for sure. It basically kept all the warm humid air from entering the crawlspace to begin with. Then the fan was just an extra precaution against radon..
