Great job. Thanks for posting!!!
This was such a great video
Love Lake Grapevine! Cheers!
very nice.
Great video! We are 22 years old and live on our sailboat, preparing to sail around the world. the Catalina 22's are awesome boats, so fun to sail! Fair winds, and if you are ever near us hit us up!
Good video buddy! Love the shades! I can see myself in the reflection!
aye! thanks! (eric), very cool man.
It seems you were sailing alone. Going forward on a boat that has no lifelines, not wearing a PFD with the boat motoring along is very risky. Falling in the water and seeing your boat scoot away with no other boats around must be terrifying!
Nice video! Thanks for sharing. Is this C22 a single-handed boat? Is it good for beginner to learn to sail as many people say that the best boat for learning to sail is dinghy like ILCA 6?
Thanks man. Buying a C 22 tomorrow.
Once people find out you have a boat they always seem to be willing to go for a ride. Enjoy your first sail on her!
Where do you get the boat cover from? Looks like it's a good fit.
The Sailors’ Tailor out of Ohio. Lots of covers for one design boats and they can do custom canvas if you have something a little more special.
This wouldn't happen to be on Lake Grapevine, in DFW, would it? I race out there with GSC on a Melges 24 named "Lucky Dog".
It just might be! If I’m not on our boat I’m usually racing on Don’t Panic. Looks like this weekend is cancelled!
@@ZeroToAwesome Yeah, I saw that email come through this morning. We won second in our class at last years Gold Rush Regatta.
Do you ever need someone to Crew? I'm rebuilding a C22 right now just outside Dallas. Would love to go out with you sometime.
You don’t sound like Texas lol Do you regret not going for a longer boat? Looking to purchase one but not sure on the size yet
Howdy! For cruising the 22 is a little small, but for single handing and racing it is perfect. Especially since you can race one-design fleets rather than in handicap fleets. I’ve already been looking at the next boat though, something in the 36 range so it could handle some offshore cruising.
Hey. Got my C22. Your boat seems to have a line I don't have. It's a steel line from the top of the mast to the end of the boom. It's NOT the backstay. After you release the boom from the backstay, it is visible while you sail. It's clearly visible at 7:53. What is it used for? Thanks !
Hey there! It is a topping lift, not necessary but handy if you are going to drop the mast and trailer every once in a while. Also if you set it up with a block on the boom you can help keep strain off of the leech in your main in light downwind runs and add a little shape. Catalina direct has a $100 kit to add this to the 22.
Or maybe it just holds the rum?
Hey, I added the topping lift from C.D. because it allows you to drop the main without the boom falling into the cockpit. Sometimes, when the wind is up, it's hard to hook that little dangler to the boom. I've got 2 Catalina 22 vids up if ya'll are interested.
Sheets don't help your sails go up and down. That is what halyards are for. But you are right that they are not called ropes.
Best burgers in grapevine.
@@ZeroToAwesome everything tastes better when you’re watching gas dock demolition derby.
canyon lake?
Grapevine, awesome sailing club out there and a great C22 fleet that is pretty active racing.
Oh man, never go sailing alone without a PFD on! A guy died just the other day that way. And yes he was young and strong!
I See you’re on Grapevine! Do you have an email I could reach out to?
Great video! Thank you for sharing ⛵️
