Props for showing good etiquette. I do snowcats and having uphillers where they are not supposed to be can be a big problem. It is really important to not wear ear plugs or at least take them out around break overs. We had one our employees hit by a snowmobile early morning before the mountain open. Broke his femur:(
This issue has come up a lot in recent years with the growing popularity of touring. The answer is no - because you're also using their parking lot, their bathrooms, their avalanche mitigation, their grooming/slope maitenance, so they can set the policy on who is allowed to use the land they lease.
@@ryaningalls6084 most resorts pay a annual fee for a special land use agreement with the forest service. Depending on the size and scale of the location this is usually a couple million.
I’m a skinner at Park City. Excellent job mentioning that each resort is different when it comes to uphill travel when it’s open, when you need to be off by, and where to go. Ps. 99% of us skin up in the morning at PC because The Viking Yurt does sleigh ride dinners on the same route for uphill travel leaving 2-3 inch deep tracks. We don’t want to it eat since we won’t see it. We do it when the route is freshly groomed.
There was a guy offering to take people up the backside of Breckenridge on a snowmobile for $40 a person. This was back pre-pandemic but once you got up to the top, you could catch chairs midway and never have to show a pass.
Broke my knee in january '23 and back on the slopes since dec '23. Put on a little too much weight during the recovery. Perfect solution to lose some kg's xD
I worked at the Keystone gondola the last season before they allowed snowboarding, maybe in '95 or so, tried to work mostly nights and weekend days, rode A-basin and Breck mostly, occasional poach at Copper...oh the good old days. Calibrate the collision detection on the far Outpost station was always "uh yeah I pressed the button a bunch of times so it's all good right? yeah I guess so...".
At killington on the east coast you can just lie and say that your 5 online and then pick up your pass at the robot ticket vender and then go through the robot scanner gate thing and boom your snowboarding for free

If the resort is on public land, I'm pretty sure you can snowboard/ski there for free as long as you dont ever take the lifts.
Yes and no when the resort isn’t in operation or conditions and it varies by resort. No

@@Puzzlestoveno you are wrong. They dont pay anything except for a $1 fee for every single person that uses the mountain

My hat's off to you JB & C. Working hard with what you got to make us all still feel that SB lives until more snow arrives. Thanks!!

Thanks man! We love it 😍 Good work out
@@JohnathanBuckhouse Welcome! 💕☃️❄️
@@JohnathanBuckhouse We have to meet up In Steamboat at end of February into March so you can see who I really am. LOL!!
I love the hiking and splitboarding vids.
Thanks for the sharing such excellence!
Stoked you like them!
You could definitely wear some camo, jump in the trees, wait till the resort opens, and stick to the mid-mountain lift, no ski pass needed! 😉😎
Quite clever
Done this many times before
It's so cool to learn about stuff like this. I've never even heard of split boarding before I found your channel. 🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥

Wow 😮
I wonder if this loophole has been patched. I used to hike up breck and just take midway lifts

The knee would love the motion too! Hope it gets to 100% soon
Those ski's, no wait snowboard, no wait ski's, no wait snowboard, is cool! never seen that before.

Very cool content my man !

200k👍 congrats!
@:48 nice
This is a GREAT video!!!
Thank you!
I’ve never been on a ski lift, I’ve had to climb every mountain I’ve ever rode down. Same with skating so I’m use to it.
OK so you say to follow the rules but isn't this technically trespassing/illegal? Or is it something that keystone allows?
I saw the grinch tiktok go viral lol
😂
Steamboat Just opened new chair lift today
Rad 🙌🏼
That's pretty cool

Hot take, hide in the trees and ski the back side
No such thing as east coast pow days 😂
🤣😂
That's what's funny ❄️⛷️❄️
So u walk up for 1 free ride n then what..gotta walk back up for another free run?
Yeah you can do it as many times as you want 😄
@@JohnathanBuckhouse that has to be toture
Freeeeee!
The only thing that sucks is you gotta keep going up walking
Hi
I love riding keystone, but once you get to the top early in the morning… I am so cold,I relate 😂
Yoo
You can’t do this in every mountain? I thought lift tickets were only for ski lifts, that you could walk all the way up for free.
Depends who owns the land. Many ski resorts just lease from the forestry service, therefor they can’t stop you from walking up.
@@kagenquinn Thanks! Didn’t know how that worked.
Props for stealing use of ski lifts 😊. Steamboat, CO, made snow overnight shelter to beat lift tickets.... i make my trail...
Lol
You pay for a LIFT ticket. Not a mountain ticket.
👍
Yessirrr
What haha
🤘🏼
you mean its possible to do one run for free at keystone...lol seems like a loooot of work for 1 free run. I'd just get the lift pass lol
No way. Not worth it. Ever. Unless it's legit your daily workout because you live out there. Otherwise, nope.
yeah it's definitely more for the workout and memories than the turns... otherwise we'd just wait a couple hours and take the lift lol
🤘🏼
first :D
