Hi! why cant my canon g2000 printer does not blink the red light for the second 5 pressed (STOP.) It was stocked in the power button lights on. (and its rolled out paper after the first 5 times pressed). HELP!! THank you!!
Seriously, thanks so much, I called Canon helpline and they told me I needed to buy a new printer. I went on loads of sites and was about to buy a new printer and then I did this and it worked and now my printer is back and working. I appreciate it.
My G3200 ( 2 years old) stopped working when I tried to have it do a deep cleaning. The ON and ALARM buttons flashing. Called Canon -they told me it's toast, need a new one and offered $80 discount if I bought a new one from them. Instead, I found this video and followed the instructions - 3 minutes later it's working again. Thanks Waris!
step by step: 1) turn off, do not unplug 2) hold down stop, then turn on printer, holding both for ~3 seconds 3) release stop, then wait a few seconds 4) still holding power, press stop key 5 times -- green light will start flashing at power button 5) wait til green light becomes steady 6) press stop 5 times, then power key once -- green light is flashing again, printer is "resetting" -- it will then quickly print a paper 8) put it back in the tray (he rotates...looks like printed side was at bottom, now at top, same side...probably doesn't matter) 9) press stop key 3 times, then power key once - you'll get a final print out, issue should be resolved. worked for me, pixma g3200 with 5b00 error. thanks for this resolution without having to try all of those other shady-feeling google results (for me, 5b00 error for full waste ink pads...mine were pretty full. removed them, cleaned, and then did this.)

Thank you Waris! Worked for me, with Canon g3200. No more having to acknowledge ink pad full message and having to press green start button every time I turn on printer. Of course this wont stop the pad from truly becoming full and overflowing, but that's a bridge for yet another day!
This is not working on my printer. When I hit the start button after hitting the red triangle 5 times for the second time, my printer just turns off. This is driving me crazy!

I removed the sponges from the back of the machine and washed them in warm soapy water. I squeezed all the moisture out of them and put them in a barely warm oven to dry. There are three sponges in all. One large one on the bottom and two on the top. You have to remove them all. It still wouldn't work. I found your video referenced on amazon reviews and it worked! YOU ARE BRILLIANT! THANK YOU! I WILL HAVE YOUR NAME TATOOED ON MY BUTT!
This worked perfectly on my g3200! Didn't think I would ever see it print again after reading about the ink absorber error, but this worked like magic. Thank you so much for making this video!
On my Canon G3200, I reached the 7 flash 5B00 error code for a full waste counter. This worked to bypass the lock-down so I can at least get a few more prints out of this machine. Thank you!
Thank you for this excellent video Varis. I have an MP280 and the procedure must be a little different- but this has got me closer than anything else so far. As a side note to others- the post below from Charles Knight is possibly a scam- the number provided is NOT Canon support and they will try to get you to turn over control of your computer via the bios- DON"T DO IT. Canon support no longer covers my model, but I may check out their paid support just to get this fixed.

Thank you. Works perfectly. Also try to remove old pads and put new ones is ink pads are completely wet. Summary looks like avoid deep cleaning in g3000 series continuously.
Thanks for the video. My printer is G2400. It however goes off after I have successfully completed the first phase of the process i.e after the green light has been stabilized. Whenever I press the cancel key five times, it goes off each time I press the power button. Any help?

Here is what you will need to repair 5B00 code on a Canon G3200. I just did it today. 1) Order parts from Canon. 2) disassemble. 3) re-assemble. 4) test, print and clear code. Note, there are 8 absorbent pads. 1 is under the black ink tank and 1 is under the color ink tank. These are not included in the part number below and you will not need them unless you spill your ink, mine were still new no ink. The other six will need to be replaced. 3 of the 6 that need to be replaced are easy to get to just take off the back cover but the remaining 3 require a complete disassemble. If you do not change the 6 pads and just reset the machine ink will overflow out of the machine onto your table, floor, etc. 1) Canon parts team (America) 1-800-481-2569. When prompt choose #4. Part #QY5-0558-000, this has the 6 pads you will need to replace but not the 2 under the ink tanks. 2) Follow this video. My MG8120 does not have those buttons, any suggestions. Canon says to buy a new printer, planned obsolescence, no wonder our landfills are full! I hate throwing a good item away. If this is Canon's philosophy I will never buy from them again.
After pressing 5 times (the 2nd time round), my printer runs and print the paper halfway and shuts down. I have tried repeating the steps again but the same thing happened. What should I do? My printer is a G3000 printer

My MG8120 does not have those buttons, any suggestions. Canon says to buy a new printer, planned obsolescence, no wonder our landfills are full! I hate throwing a good item away. If this is Canon's philosophy I will never buy from them again.

After pressing 5 times (the 2nd time round), my printer runs and print the paper halfway and shuts down. I have tried repeating the steps again but the same thing happened. What should I do? My printer is a G3000 printer
