"The ball can't lie." But since it does lie (on the ground) then hitting it becomes a question of impact. The simplest, straightest swing puts the club face on the ball, square to the target line. Address with the impact position and return the club to that position with the required speed. Any other movements are superfluous and why corrections and fixes are required.
