HOW TO PREPARE LYE WATER FOR BAR SOAPS.( DIY)

Lye water is a solution of caustic soda ( sodium hydroxide) or caustic potash ( potassium hydroxide).
When making bar soap, the specific gravity of lye should be within a particular range..
For laundry soap, the specific gravity should be 12.75. and for bathing soap, the specific gravity should be 12.50.

To prepare your lye, measure some caustic soda into water, stir properly for about 15 minutes allow to cool down then test the specific gravity to suit the soap you are making.

Desolve 1kg of caustic soda in 3 liters of water. Stir properly and alow it to cool down for 12 hours then test the gravity.
