This sector decided to be even worse in earlier versions because you had to land on it to get the cargo drone research, so when you do, you have 49 surge exactly, and I think you know where this is going...
Yeah, if this were arranged such that you'd need a surge factory to make cargo drones, I am 90% sure I would just player ship haul every bit of construction tungsten instead. Though it might be interesting to do something like, built the nitro condenser and tank some up. Then deconstruct nitro and replace with the surge crucible, make ONE surge, then never tough any of it again. Or the other way round.
It should drop the pretense and go full skyblock. "Here's 1 wall beryllium. No you can't put a bore on it you have to pickaxe. The collaris will be here in 5 minutes to kill you. Good luck!"
I think I've gained some nuance in my opinion on resource starvation since making this video. It *can* be fun to be poor, if it's implemented well, not overdone, and the player has something else interesting and useful to do while waiting. The campaign does not deliver those conditions. Is Mindustry about waiting? Well the campaign sure is. Should Mindustry be about waiting? Absolutely not. When I want waiting I play an idle game.
@@larofeticus Yep, I got bored of the campaign myself, and I never tried online pvp because I sadly suck at games. The first half hour of a normal playthrough is the most engaging, setting up your defences and factories but once you get your defences set up in such a way that does not need 24/7 babysitting, then you kinda don't have anything to do while you wait for your army to finish building. But multiplayer co-op makes it fun enough, and also drawing on canvas blocks on erekir is a fun side activity to kill some time. I just wish more sectors in the campaign had something to offer to shake things up
@@sharkenjoyer Perhaps try the map I made? ua-cam.com/video/xr0iv8mq5AQ/v-deo.html It was an exercise in seeing if I could fix the problems I saw in the campaign, and end up with something better. Be advised that it's very challenging, though. No downtime, though a play-through will never take longer than an hour. I am also working on some future map ideas that I believe will still be fun but also more accessible.
@@larofeticus Oh I'm not that good, I may honestly get too frustrated while trying to complete it but I just may download it and keep it until I feel like I can take it on, thanks
completed the campaign over the weekend, I got a bit carried away. origin is severely underwhelming. beat it first try after waiting through all the escalations for units, they just don't attack you. beat all the maps in 22 hrs total, I think it's a waste for the most part.
I must say, I enjoy watching your viewpoint. It is unique.

guest appearance somewhere in the vid, can't be bothered to timestamp, I can hear the meows
consider: Mindustry Campaign might not think it's fun to be poor, but that it's funny

@@larofeticus people would eat that shit up I'm telling you, unironically I'd love to see that be a thing but we have map editor already so
mindustry is a lot about waiting lol
erekir is more about idle waiting while serpulo is waiting while you babysit defense lines
