Thanks for watching! Clear skies!
Something up with UA-cam folks. The resolution of the video is being reduced. I don't know why. It should be 1080p. If you're seeing at 360p or 480p click to change resolution to 720p. That's as high as I can get UA-cam to display this video for some odd reason.
720 is a heck of a lot better than the 360p it was at last night/this morning! The software works better than UA-cam, congrats! Now if I could just get switching it to my GPU to work :/
Listening to this music makes my heart comfortable, greetings from me from Indonesia. Jos
This is a REALLY good update. I've never had the best luck getting a good starless image with bad Newtonian diffraction spikes and older versions of StarXTerminator, StarNet2. This version is wiping them really well. So much fun! Edit: Enable CUDA acceleration if you can. I had a large drizzled image that took 14.5 minutes without CUDA, then 50 seconds with CUDA on using an RTX 2060.
This really does work very well!
This is such a useful update on RCAstro stuff, thanks for doing this 👍🏻
Impressing advances in the neural network Russ. Great product...! Thanks for pulling this video together Shawn.
My pleasure!
I really enjoyed this video! Lots of valuable information from Russ. Thank you.
Thanks Shawn! For the vid and thanks Russ for the discount!
Thanks Shawn. Great video.
I bought StarXterminator and NoiseXterminator a few days before this video came out. Too bad I missed the discount, but the tools are amazing. Thanks for the links to enabling the GPU and all the additional insights into StarXterminator!
Wow, great video and huge thanks to Russ for all the details and background and tips. Such a nice guy. Because of this, I just got StarXterminator (NoiseXterminator user discount) and am really impressed with the results too. I was struggling with artifacts and some leftover stars using StarNet in a wide field mosaic of Sadr region + Crescent Nebula, but the results from StarXterminator were perfect (linear mode, 50% overlap). Now I can finish off this project.
Great update, thanks. Like you I run NoiseXTerminator first and then StarXTerminator and get great results.
I really wasn't a starXterminator fan since it used to leave really ugly clone stamps remarks on the removed stars, and it also used to really kill the details of the image, but just trying the new version, and things improved by so much.
I now find it slightly better or equal to starnet2, perhaps different targets might still produce different results, but it's really great overall.
This right here is super interesting to listen to- always been a massive fan of RC, gradient, noise and star are all superb.. the V11 Ai is really quite something. Now I have to go back to all my earlier images haha
This update is ridiculous, also, getting the NVIDIA involved just reduced the processing time from 8 mins down to 20 seconds. Thanks for the great work and the information here
Great video just bought the software…
FYI….Russell Croman, not Chroman..👍🏻
Thanks - fixed it!
Thankyou Shawn and Russ for a great presentation. I wonder if it is possible to remove / reduce star spikes from a newt and leave the stars or just reduce them by a small amount ? Thanks again
Thank you so much for this update, Shawn and Russell!
I will test it immediately.
@Russell: NoiseXTerminator is awesome!!!
CS,
Stephen
Great video. Unfortunately, I bought it before I got to the part where you mentioned the discount plus it was well after the week it was offered. I do have a question about the full version and the lite. When I installed it today it was only the lite version (2.0.5 AI 11 lite). My system should be capable of the larger tiles. It has dual NVidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti w/11GB each. The CPU is i7 8086K @4GHz, 64GB RAM, 12 TB SSD. How do you get the full version? Thanks again and I really enjoy your videos. FYI, I got BlurXTerminator also, and that is causing me to reprocess my best Astro images over again. I previously used Topaz Sharpening and Denoise tools, but what BlurXTerminator can do to reduce and make the stars more rounded is worth the price.
Very impressive I don't use Pixinsight myself simply because my PC is to old so I can't see it being able to handle it let alone StarXterminator & NoiseXsterminator, however should I upgrade I'll seriously consider having both.
The link to Star Xterminator 2.0 from your video description is broken
Great video, as always! But i do have a question. Is GPU accelaration on M1 Macs for Starxterminator turned automatically on, or do we need to change something in the setting? Because i can only see the link for Windows machine. Thank you!
Hi Shaun. Just wondering if you have any videos on the Generalised Hyperbolic Stretch script ?
Works brilliantly on photoshop
Great work Shawn on your channel!! Now with both StarXterminator and NoiseXterminator processes. It says on Russell's site to use StarX as early in the linear stage as possible. I have not seen however if he recommends to use NoiseX before StartX or after? Do you know? Thanks again for everything you do for our community!!
It really depends on your own workflow and preference. I actually stretch and apply noiseX, then do StarX with great results. There is always more than one way to approach it. What works best for you if the end result is good is the way to do it.
Hello, thx for your videos ! 👍🏻 I installed StarExterminator and launched a test but I notice that the process takes a lot of time, it's been 20mn since I launched StarExterminator and it is only at 25%... Normal?
I just wondering where Russell got all this training data of starless images. Did someone have to manually clone out all the stars on thousands of images (millions of stars)? Because if that's the case it would have probably been easier to travel outside of the Milky Way to deep space and take a bunch of photos from there.
link for the star exterminator not working sean....
Is there a plug-in for PS. Thanks for another great video Shawn
There is... StarXTerminator works with PixInsight and Photoshop (and Affinity Photo).
yes and it works really well
Good vid! I've purchase both SXT and NXT for Pixinsight. Has there been any discussion if GradientXTerminator and StarShrink will be coming to PI?
I asked Russ about gradientXterminator for PI in the video. He talked about it. Interesting chat.
@@VisibledarkAstro I must have missed that part...time to watch it again. Thanks.
There are three AI Files that can be selected when you run SX2. Which one do I use ?
Russ actually explains this in the video. I think around 21:05 in.
Thx
The links to GPU accelleration do not seem to work
Links are fixed now.
Link doesn't work
Ciao a tutti.... Vedo che questo nuovo aggiornamento funziona bene a tutti. Ma a me non sta funzionando per niente bene... Lavora veramente male lasciando aloni e stelle che non riesce a togliere. Ho scritto una email di lamentela ad Rc Astro
William Li link is 404!
Fixed. UA-cam changed it. Should work now.
