Use THIS Fly for WILD Fish!

- This is the humpy, a simple pattern that floats very well and can match a verity of insects. It can even be made into an attractor by swapping out the body dubbing or thread like seen here in red. This is one of my personal favorites to have in the fly box for our wild native Maine Brook trout. Particularly those that are unpressured and willing to take any meal they see. However, it works well to imitate a verity of insects and works for many species.

This fly caught me tons of brook trout this year, Its great for dry droppers, Thanks for the video!
Absolutely, no problem at all! Definitely a staple in my brookie box!
I absolutely love your hook selections and greatly appreciate the links for where to order your materials.
Happy to help! Just go easy on the fish in small sizes it’s a great hook but has a bit more flex than others. You can kinda see it in the video
Fantastic pattern. Well done!
Nice fly, like always 👍
I've caught more grayling (and native brookies in my previous life) with the Humpy than any other fly. Still my favorite 50 years from the first time I used it.
Grayling is something I dont have near me but is on the bucket list! very cool surface oriented fish
@@MainelyFlies Yep. But you can catch loads right off the bottom of the stream. Make sure you take some "grayling killer bug" nymphs with you on your bucket list trip.
Will do maybe I’ll have to tie it up in the channel
Love the videos and the work, ill definally be returning to the store later this year to get a few more that i might be missing in my boxes. :D
Thanks i appreciate the kind words and you support! Hope you have had a great season so far
I have caught more summer trout on a yellow humpy than any other fly, yellow stimulator is a close second.
Yellow is another great color good choice
The humpy slays fish
Can you please tie some salt water patterns?
Can you go fly fishing in salt water???
I’ll get a few more up. It’s not really where my experience is but I can definitely tie them
Thanks
@@Donuts_random_stuff yes. I've never been though, only freshwater. If I lived near the ocean, I would. Colorado is a long way away. what makes you think you couldn't?
@@joeg5414 the reason that made me think fly fishing was only fresh water is because you’re imitating insects that live around the water but you never see a lot of insects around sea water
