NO ACTUAL WAYYYY I WATCH UR VIDEOS ALL THE TIME I NEVER THOUGHT U WOULD BE REVIEWING OUR SONGS AND SAYING WE’LL FILL STADIUMS !!! (lit used to playing gross basements) thank you so much for your review and your faith in us
I l love the way you do that Spanish-style strum at the end of your theme tune, more so when it’s played on a regular acoustic guitar. How do you do it? Long nails?
Hi Justin .I was just wondering what you thought of Lou Reed as a singer / song writer . Indeed what are Your thoughts on other rock artists voice and or song writing abilities ?
This has some serious Neutral Milk Hotel vibe’s especially the song Naomi… not trying to take anything away from the band, and the singers got a great presence on this tune! Cool song
I had one of those Martin travelers guitars once. It had Zero bass sound. SERIOUSLY, it was so quiet it might as well have had five strings. So I sold it.
I think your videos are brilliant. When you find out parts from other songs and how they coalesce is a testament to you as a musician. Have you heard of Don Broco? I think they're just awesome and could use a song breakdown from the likes of you.
Wow you just blew my mind that ‘Jessie’s Girl’ is ‘Jailbreak’ by Thin Lizzy. I’m only 26 years old and I’m just a lame Portland hipster who just started writing during COVID after teaching myself enough guitar and singing. My brain would explode if I was born in the 70’s and actually knew wtf was going on when it came to music but that just shows how dope your video’s are!!
its been four videos now and you still haven't explained the weird silhouette thing behind you. Is it yours (and if so why?) or does it come with the hotel room? Curious in New Zealand.
Pretty solid stuff- reminds me a bit of the Delgadoes maybe? Not that they got super big but they have some great album. Will definitely check more out.
Fantastic analysis Justin. Its something I've found myself doing sometimes - though not nearly in as much detail - when I think I hear other songs in whatever I'm listening to. Have you given any thought to inviting Crawlers on a forthcoming Darkness tour?
Justin just reeks of guitar freekyness and I absolutely love him. Underrated played in my humble opinion. Would love to have lunch and talk guitars with him.
I know nothing about them except that they took their name from a great song off the least-rated album by my favourite band ergo they are cool. Even if that isn't how they got their name, I'm still going to give them cool points because I personally love that album.
Dude there are only 12 notes in the Western music twelve-tone equal temperament as you well know🤣🤣it's inevitable that at some point patterns get repeated!
Can we hear your take on bands like Chon or Polyphia? I think your insight is very intriguing and would love to hear your opinion on this new style of guitar playing. Cheers!
so that chord progression that's the U2 song, is just a 1 5 6 4, which there's a lot of information about online, i most recommend hte comedy group Axis of Awesome and their song 4 chords lol
it could be a more intersting move if on those two last chords on the chorus they use the contrary movement, ascending the melody against the descending chord (an obvius thing on the composition lessons).
It truly amazes me how you can pick out so many songs just by pure rock'nrollness. "oh thats a Thin lizzy song isnt it? Oh Bob Mareley" etc. (Btw thanks for the No woman no cry, It would have driven me mad!)
“There from Liverpool! That means they’re brilliant!” 🤣🤣🤣 Justin, mate, don’t ever change. Although as a China Crisis, OMD and Lightning Seeds fan, you’re not wrong.
Justin, just watced your video Heart Explodes. Brilliant! Love the channel. ????? Why do you think your band was not more successful? No disrespect. Thank you.
1 5 6 4 Generic Chords - Starting Point (Fix You + No Woman No Cry) + (Pixie esque semitone shift modulation Grunge Nod) x REVERB = Cool sounding Generic but Good Song = Lots of potential Thanks J look out for them
This song has shades of “Where is My Mind” by The Pixies to me. Particularly in the vocal melody. Anyway. Liking the channel dude! (song title edited as per my mind being on a different planet!)

🤘
Curious to what you think of new band Wet Leg? (I think you'll like them)
ua-cam.com/video/Y8rQuNHRqA4/v-deo.html
Curious if you've listened to STARCRAWLER???? CRAZY COOL. KILLER GUITAR. lol. I'm my opinion..
Big Wreck? No? Give them a listen. Zepp is in there. Maybe a bit of prog? Steve Morse. Chris Cornell. Try the new stuff

Your record is absolutely incredible, you should and will be HUGE!
Gonna be listening to ur guys EP All day now 😆
What happened to Hot Leg? We'd love to hear about that!
All I heard was “no woman no cry” all the time, so it’s a killer tune
I thought you were talking about the band StarCrawler, which is another 90s sounding female fronted grunge band
Love STARCRAWLER!!!!!
Would love to hear you talk about Muse more :D
Watching your subs go up is a joy too see.
I like them. They're young and hungry. Definitely a band to watch!
much love 💓
Hey Justin good to see you still rocking.I saw you live in Cardiff on a tiger great gig! Bout 2004.
I was there too, but. In the CIA.
I'm near Liverpool so I'll have to show some interest in Crawlers. Sweet!!
These videos are so good! so cool to hear someone with proper musical understanding talking about new music
PLEASE review Moon Walker. You'd love their record Truth to Power. Incredible lyricism
Lmfao 😂 spot on review. They are gonna need a jailbreak after ripping off everything except the kitchen sink.
It's dripping both in reverb and ambition ... I'm dying :-)
love watching the influential songs pop into your mind, so entertaining, But also very interesting with the analysis!!
Their song Hush has the same bass line and guitar from Nirvana's love buzz !
My band are supporting Crawlers next year!! I’m not allowed to say which show or anything because it hasn’t been announced yet
Ah Justin. You came at a time when the pursuit of one true love, in which to fall, was the be all and end all.
It's alright. Well produced and mixed
Hey dude - absolutely loving your song analysis. Fascinating stuff. Well done, sir
Should do something on Dead Sara, I love that band!
I love that you're doing youtube vids, it's great stuff.
Also the chord sequence in Love Is Only A Feeling...
Justin has a landline yesssss
This has some serious Neutral Milk Hotel vibe’s especially the song Naomi… not trying to take anything away from the band, and the singers got a great presence on this tune! Cool song
I had one of those Martin travelers guitars once. It had Zero bass sound. SERIOUSLY, it was so quiet it might as well have had five strings.
So I sold it.
lot of cranberries influence there . They made their mark as well
You should do this with some of your own old songs and give an honest breakdown. Would put into perspective how most bands do these things.
Check out the band called Crazy Lixx. They're an awesome 80s rock style band.
That was really nice when you played u2
I would love to know what Justin makes of the Edge
Bands you need to check out Justin: crazy lixx , hardcore superstar and H.E.A.T 🎸
I think your videos are brilliant. When you find out parts from other songs and how they coalesce is a testament to you as a musician.
Have you heard of Don Broco? I think they're just awesome and could use a song breakdown from the likes of you.
You remember The Toadies, from Texas? That come over again line is a ringer for one of their songs...
Great content, just subscribed. I'm curious what your opinion would be on bands such as Thee Oh Sees would be?
Absolutely stop I LOVE YOU and these are my BEST FRIENDS my life has come full circle
South African band called the Parletones sound very much like this. At least vocally
Wow you just blew my mind that ‘Jessie’s Girl’ is ‘Jailbreak’ by Thin Lizzy. Better lighting?
Justin!! Maybe have a look at Chez Kane?
Whenever you put Freddie Mercury in the segment, you've sold me! :)
Can't help but hear no woman no cry in that chord progression. However, the rest is original enough. Thumbs up crawlers!
10:32 Possibly you're thinking of Ozzy's "Crazy Train", if you concentrate on the bass line under the main riff.
and ive got a ticket to their gig 💪💪
I love Darkness.
U2 homaged Let it be for WOWY, those chords are obviously ubiquitous though. TS - All too well is one of my faves 😉
Have a look at Starcrawler also a great new band.
Arrow ! like the new tune Goodtime Girl.
Love Henri Cash's energy
Should do a vid on the Southern River band, I think they played support for you when you were in Ozstralia? They kick
Sweet Home Alabama picking there old son. I heard old Tegan & Sara there so give them a listen and dig the odd chord progressions.
its been four videos now and you still haven't explained the weird silhouette thing behind you. Is it yours (and if so why?) or does it come with the hotel room? Curious in New Zealand.
😂 I too am extremely curious 🤨 about the prominent erection or extremely stylized cod piece.
Pretty solid stuff- reminds me a bit of the Delgadoes maybe? Not that they got super big but they have some great album. Will definitely check more out.
Hey can you share a link to your guitar? Thanks
Kettles just finished boiling. Perfect timing
💓💓
Fantastic analysis Justin. Its something I've found myself doing sometimes - though not nearly in as much detail - when I think I hear other songs in whatever I'm listening to.
Have you given any thought to inviting Crawlers on a forthcoming Darkness tour?
Honestly best YT channel about
Justin just reeks of guitar freekyness and I absolutely love him. Underrated played in my humble opinion. Would love to have lunch and talk guitars with him.
So is it just Darkness from now on or are we keeping the “the”? I just want to be in the know.
Hi Jus. Wonderful content. Did you ever studio record Come Into My Arms with Hot Leg? If so, where can I get my hands/ears on it?
Kissin' Dynamite is the next Stadium Rock Band! They have everything it needs!
I know nothing about them except that they took their name from a great song off the least-rated album by my favourite band ergo they are cool. Even if that isn't how they got their name, I'm still going to give them cool points because I personally love that album.
They've got Rock Pedigree...Chum :-) (it's a British Fing...ask Lassie)
I’m surprised you never mentioned beast of burden.
Dude there are only 12 notes in the Western music twelve-tone equal temperament as you well know🤣🤣it's inevitable that at some point patterns get repeated!
I am a bit disappointed they're not from Crawley
Probably been asked before.. but what is that guitar?
5:16 the dreaded bum note :P
Please do a video on Dirty Honey’s Rolling 7’s they just spent the summer opening for the Black Crowes!
Can we hear your take on bands like Chon or Polyphia? I think your insight is very intriguing and would love to hear your opinion on this new style of guitar playing. Cheers!
Can’t wait to watch this with my coffee on my big TV. Loving these
❤️
This was fun.

I'd like to hear your opinion on the band Ghost. I should really like them, but there's something missing and I don't know what it is.
You need to tour with Foxy Shazam again.
Love it!!
It truly amazes me how you can pick out so many songs just by pure rock'nrollness. "oh thats a Thin lizzy song isnt it? Oh Bob Mareley" etc. (Btw thanks for the No woman no cry, It would have driven me mad!)

I was also a little bit reminded of ELBOW Beautiful Day
best intro on youtube

Great review as always. Would you ever consider doing an indepth review of Firth of Fifth by Genesis?
LOL! He always sings so much louder than he talks that I as a headphone user have to momentarily turn the volume down 😄
Hell yeah!! Up the new mersey indie scene... check out Project Nevada next pls. Know them personally and they're genuine blokes 🤘
Justin Hawkins
@ 10:15 mins .. I also really hear Pat Benetar 'Hit me with your best shot'
This song has shades of “Where is My Mind” by The Pixies to me. Particularly in the vocal melody. Anyway. Liking the channel dude! (song title edited as per my mind being on a different planet!)
Wait..Here Comes Your Man or Where Is My Mind?
@@dahliafiend 😂
@@dahliafiend yes
@@dahliafiend Sorry I had a senior moment! :) I meant Where Is My MInd! Mine is obviously some place else!! haha Glad you got the drift.
May i ask which Martin model is that guitar? :) thx
it's backpacker :)
@10:00 Growing on Me .. haha!
Hush by Crawlers is a reimagining of Love Buzz.
You should check out the FANCULERS
Justin. You gotta check out White Reaper.
I didn't hear Jailbreak - more Jessie's Girl by Rick Springfield...
Cool shout out to a band new to me. Stuck it on my Spotify jogging list.
Please review Baboon Show they're great too! Xx
What's wrong with a band name that starts with "The"? You should check out The Warning, they are 100% trope-free!
I believe that was a little bit of self-depreciation from a member of *The* Darkness 😁
But yes, I agree. Check out The Warning, Justin!
I think he was being sarcastic. All the cool kids are dropping their the's.
"I have a bit of a cold" - *ALL* singers say that!! 😂 🤣
Justin, the next band to fill stadiums and arenas should definitely be .... The Darkness!
What you missed when you mentioned Lizzy was the progression is also like Jessies girl .
I was thinking the exact same thing when he played it!
I got 'Hit me with your best shot' at first
You mean In Lizzy. Theres no Th.
They're a bit like Gold Hotel but with people actually paying attention.
Nothing But Thieves are going that way. Im not a fan but can see them going huge.
