When you look at paintings from nearly all of the great masters, like Singer Sargent, there is a lot of non fleshed out parts of the painting. Hands that are just gestures, hair, that is just one whisk with a brush. There is a focal point that is detailed and flashed out but zooming out the painting is much more gestural and free. That is what creates a point of interest and movement around it. I think its no problem at all your second figure isnt fleshed out, he could even be more gestural and free!
Absolutely wonderful works. In making art, mental development and control is probably as challenging as the technical expertise that is developed by making works. It's like learning to like the process of making, all its stages, in order to find your own way of creating.
I love this video so much! Sometimes is easy to get so lost in all the technicalities of the painting that we forget that this is also a way to tell a story. I try and tell stories with my art, but it is very easy so fall from that. This was a great reminder 💗
This makes me so happy! I was worried my rambling got in the way of the actual message 😅 I think it's always going to be a struggle trying to manage practicing with being creative
The wonderful thing about oil paintings is they aren't ruled by time constraints, only by the needs of the artist and they are only actually complete when that need has been fulfilled; even then one might find a work calling back to them to put a bit more work in. After 40 years in the art business I'm now retired and have lost count as to how many "finished" pieces I've done - but the ones that I was most satisfied with always had an element of indication rather than completion to some extent which always adds a feeling of vitality.
It definitely conveys a story! Out of curiosity did you go to school for arts, used online programs/academies or just self taught? Currently on my own art journey.
@@fasick I’m self taught besides a short online portrait painting class by Zhaoming Wu that I got just before Christmas. But I would absolutely love to have some formal training at some point. It’s a dream of mine to study at Charles H Cecil studios some day to learn the classic techniques
How do find the graduate brush range for oils? I bought the round brush for blending and the bristles come loose in the paint so it’s put me off buying more of this brand.
I quite like them, they're a nice cheap choice for me. I definitely prefer the soft bristle ones though. Maybe the brush was faulty because they are cheaper than some others? I've not had really any trouble with them shedding
Hey i jus saw your video this one here: ua-cam.com/video/ojqASz2tLFk/v-deo.html I was wondering you mentioned it took years to see a sale on Etsy. Did you post organically and let it sit there, or did you run Ads on etsy to promote your painting? Thanks!

I saw a video by Jeff Miracola where he shows to stay loose when drawing from reference. It keeps the art from looking stiff. Awesome video as always!
It’s so encouraging when seeing a great artist struggle sometimes 🫣 Thank you for sharing, great painting !!❤
Thank you and I'm glad you liked the video!! ♡

You are so good at painting. I've been painting for so long, and wish I could paint that good. Keep up the great work!
Aw thank you! Everyone is working at their own pace, the important thing is just to enjoy it :))

Hope one day you will tell us how you started painting. It could be inspirational!
William Waterhaus es mi pintor favorito, espero que hagas mas estudios maestros de el!
You should do an artwork hall for your next video.
Lovely work! I loved hearing the stories.

Love h ow you paint. It leans more to Sargent, Casey Baugh, Schmidt definitely.

I'm not yet but it's something that I'd love to do if there seems to be enough interest for it!
