The way the fuel filter is being installed is backward. Also the new fuel line has been installed through the hole in the shroud that the accelerator rod only should go through with an accordion boot around the rod. Maybe that's why the line is hitting the carb. Ditto on the accelerator pump cup being on upside down also.
OK, so I'm almost a year late. Somebody commented elsewhere about the accelerator pump rubbers being upside down. They ARE upside down!! (At least the one shown in the video). Too late now, I'm sure, but if you have a bog, or hesitation when you step on the gas, that is probably the reason. If they are flexible still, you should be able to gently pry the rubber piece off and turn it over. Looks like you are learning as you go- nothing wrong with that. My first car was a 62 Monza, and I did most of the stuff you're doing...except this was in 1969! Haven't been without a Corvair since!!!!
@@benbencorvair9071 Hey, Corvair owners try to help each other! Not sure where in TX you are, but North Texas Corvair Club is one of the bigger clubs in the country. Lots of good people there. Check them out. Also, CORSA (national club) is definitely worth looking into, if you haven't so far. You have a nice car!!
Looking good ! also good move on getting a new fuel tank , sounds like a wrap. hope to see a video on that fuel tank install ! when You speak of a Corvair forum ,what forum is that? take easy & thanks for the video
Ben, at 3:04, the blue viton accelerator pump cup visible in the video momentarily as you lift the top off the carb...is on upside down. If you fix that, it will make a big improvement. You have to carefully remove it and turn it over put back on without tearing it. The flare opening of the little cup should face bottom of carb bowl.
Dude you are awesome. Love taking this journey with you. I have a 63 Spyder I am starting to restore and you are a great inspiration.
Damn a Spyder! That's awesome man I appreciate the support, good luck with yours!
Great video! I’m pulling my carbs tomorrow and going through them. Keep em coming please.
I'll try to get back at it soon. I appreciate your support!
The spring tip was especially helpful thanks!

WARNING - That battery cable going through the engine seal metal retainer needs a grommet. Fire Happened to me.
Oh jeez thanks for letting me know, I'll get right on fixing that!
What book are you using?
I'd like to know what book that is too..
Just rewatched as you explain so well. I’m curious but why does your blue accelerator pump cup look like it’s installed upside down?
