As an individual who was too young for the Doom 3 hate train when it was as its peak, I always kinda had sympathy for the game, and seeing the glimpses of what its sequel could have been intrigues me.
8:42 I'm going to assume that in Doom 4 the player was able to gradually upgrade their armor over the course of the game and this heavy armor was one of those suit upgrades. I say this because in every other leaked footage we've seen the player character not only wear normal (but padded up for obvious survival related reasons) street clothes but also a variant of an Earth Marine suit that's less bulky than this one.
Vega was very much a thing in Doom 4. He just wasn't called "Vega" at the time. In Doom 4 he was an A.I. program that was a part of an in-universe health corporation called "AGIS" which he was used to help make a cure for a fictional disease called "Kafere Plague" before hell invaded. There was leaked concept art for Doom 4 that showed an expandable medical bus that had the words "AGIS on board" printed on the side of said bus.
**Shrugs** I still like what I saw of Doom 4 and still wish that it was released as a spin-off game. A game that's a fusion of DOOM and the Metro games with a premise of "What were the humans having to deal with back on Earth while Doomguy/Slayer was kicking butt on Mars?" could've been cool as hell! Especially if the game's level design was allegedly going to be a mix of RAGE's open ended hub world design but more refined and OG Doom's labyrinth-like level design. I don't know about you but that shit alone would hype me the hell up! Lol
Doom 2016 and Eternal feel like Doom used to play which is a huge step backwards. Combine it with Disney demons and pinata powerups and I refuse to play Bethesda's Pixar version. Doom 3 will always be the best version of what we were supposed to get with the series.
@@recusantvessel No. 2016 was okay but it wasn't great and Eternal was just a poor entry but it was an okay game. The demons look stupid and silly in both games especially given what should have been capable.
There's a leaked A.I. pathing demo that showed Doom 4's version of the Shotgunner vaulting over a chest high wall and he looked freaky as hell. He had a very Wayne Barlowe adjacent look to him.
Could be a good start to a sequel to Doom Eternal. Hell looks more terrifying to this character as it's his first experience with demons. It needs some modifications to fit neatly in but could be a good Doom 3.5 for the reboots.
I wish id Software decided to release this as a sequel to doom 3 and connecting it to the main doom plots. Perhaps a bridge on how Doomguy was sent to mars when he decided to kill his upper command for telling him to shoot civilians
Hopefully they bring it to life I loved doom3 as well along with doom 2016 and doom eternal.... Doom 4 didn't look as much like call of duty as some people said you never know Id could finish the game still but who knows looks dope tho
