Fredo Corleone is the middle brother who Michael has killed in the end. Connie Corleone is Vito's youngest child and only daughter. And Carmella Corleone is Vito's wife. The two men who were Vito's partners and friends were Clemenza and Tessio. Tessio betrayed Michael after Vito died in the first film.

That kiss Michael gives Fredo is called the kiss of death. After Michael overheard Fredo saying Johnny brought him to the sex show (b4 he denied ever meeting the man), Mike knew at that moment it was Fredo who betrayed him.
At the sex show, Fredo said Johnny Ola had brought him there. When they were introduced earlier, he said he had never met Johnny before. Michael hears everything, and knows it was Fredo who betrayed him. Y'all saw Michael's face and were like "What just happened?" Vito was the little boy, he came back and killed Don Chiccio, for killing his Father, his brother, and mother in the opening scene. Also, Michael got his son, Anthony off the boat because he didn't want him to witness Fredo's execution. Just like at the end of the first movie, Michael takes care of all the family business.
When young Vito came back for Don Ciccio, one of these close friends was Tomassino. Tomassino, much older obviously, helped Michael in Italy after he killed the police officer and Sollozo. If you remember, Tomassino walked always with a cane due to a limp. That limp was produced because of the shot on the knee when he was young, in that moment when Vito murdered Ciccio.

HI, Asia and BJ, to answer Asia's question about how Michael found out it was Fredo who betrayed him if you remember, initially Fredo told Mike that he and Johnny Ola had never met, and when he shook Ola's hand he feigned ignorance. Later, while drunk, Fredo inadvertently admitted that he had in fact met Johnny Ola which told MIchael that he was the traitor. You remember the reaction of Michael when he hears it. Pacino's acting in this sequence is masterful and the way he tells Fredo that, " I know it you Fredo!. You broke my heart!" Great sequence.
Asia, Michael knew Fredo had betrayed him because first Freda said that he never met Johnny Ola - but then later on that same night, Michael heard Fredo tell the Senator that Jonny Ola told him about the club in Cuba. That's when Michael knew Fredo was lying.
I knew from the beginning they were already confused at the start of the movie, they were not going to follow the rest of the movie lol. Michael never tried to kill pantangelee. The senator never killed the prostitute, that was the corleone family to blackmail him.
I think Asia would greatly benefit from watching both movies again, back to back? Films like these often need a second viewing, just to clarify things! Also, there's always something that you may have missed the first time.
I think you were getting very confused about who the kid at the beginning is? The time period is the late 1800's, and the later period is late forties early fifties!
It's crazy how a normal person cannot differentiate a time period of half a century; the clothes, cars (or lack of), technology, etc. gives it away every time but people are very dense when it comes to different time periods.
Asia and BJ...Michael discovered Fredo's betrayal at the club with "Superman". Michael asked Fredo previously if he had met Johnny Ola before. Fredo said, no. At the club, Michael over hears Fredo telling the Senator that Johnny Ola took him here before. Oops...If the hit on Michael succeeds, Fredo becomes Don. Michael doesn' t play when betrayed...by anyone.
The scene when Signor Roberto tries to get in Vito's office was rigged deliberately, so that a nail was stuck in the door lock. Francis Ford Coppola wanted the actor playing Signor Roberto to improvise the scene, which really works.
I think you should have rewatched The Godfather again before reacting to this one. Also, Michael knew Pentangeli had nothing to do with the hit. He suspected Roth and it was cemented when Fredo lied about knowing Johnny Ola. Then Fred told Mike himself that it was Roth! Roth set up Pentangeli to make him think Mike wanted Pentangeli dead (remember when the guy tried to kill Pentangeli and said something like greetings from Michael Corleone. That is why Pentangeli was going to testify against Michael..he believed Michael had betrayed him! Michael would never have someone announce his name like that! Talia Shire was in both films. Interesting you did not notice or mention powerhouse actor Robert Duval who played Tom Hagen!
Yes, this is all true. Michael was trying to weed out who was lying or complicit in the shootout at his compound with his series of interrogations of these notable people of interest.
It's neat. Poor Sicily was occupied so often way back in the day, that it took on bits of other cultures.. like the moors. I , at least, can even tell the difference between them and mainlanders just by their sense of humor and how they carry themselves.
Se podría decir que ese empleado de inmigración intencionalmente dio origen a “La Familia” pues al darle el apellido Corleone salvo a Vito de una muerte prematura, nada posterior hubiese ocurrido sin este suceso.
When you think about it, Vito’s wife had a sad end to her life compared to her husband as she grew old enough to watch her children tear each other apart while her husband died playing with his grandkid in the garden.
The brilliant Lee Strasburg as Hyman Roth. The strongest influence behind the Actors Studio co-starred in this film with two of his outstanding students , Robert De Niro and AL Pacino. But his other students were some of the most outstanding actors since the 1950's.
Not just one of the best sequels of all time but one of the BEST films of all time, period. IMO better than the original - expands on the history, perfectly showing the contrast of Vito building the family up with unity and trust, while Michael alienates every single member of it in order to protect it. Honestly, Pacino is flawless is in this film - he's like the empty shell of a human by the end of this.
Pretty insane because it's better than the first part. I mean.. sometimes it feels like i watch a documentary (especially first part with Anthonys communion party). Pace is incredible, acting sublime. Pacino delivered a monster of performance and at this point his character is just in world of his own. No fireworks just pure cinema. My personal number one of all time.
@@terrycullen3302 My guess is that at the very end of the movie, it shows a flashback from the past with Fredo in it. So she thought he lived? But, Sonny was also in the flashback. I hope she's not wondering how Sonny lived through his shooting at the car toll. lol
@@user-or1ye3iz6d The whole flashback has characters we know are dead, though. Fredo, Sunny, Tessio, Carlo...hell, they talk about how Michael has just joined the army.
Fredo at the night club in Cuba revealed he knew Hyman Roth's flunky. He shouldn't have known him. The 10-part series The Offer about the making of the Godfather is very good.
Johnny Ola (Uncle Junior) met with Michael earlier in the movie, later when Fredo’s phone rings in the middle of the night, it’s Johnny Ola, and Fredo says “You guys lied to me.” In Cuba, Michael mentions Johnny Ola and Fredo says he never met him. Later Michael introduces them and Johnny says “We never met” but when they’re at the sex show, the Senator asks Fredo how he learned of that place and he says “Johnny Ola told me about this place, he brought me here. Old man Roth wouldn’t be caught dead but Johnny knows these places like the back of his hand.” Michael heard him say that and realized that it was Fredo that was the traitor in his family, he gave himself away.
Love you guys. Love all your reactions. I've been waiting for this review for a long time. It's one of my favorite movies. I'm sorry but I think you need to watch it again. I've seen it many times. I actually saw it when it first came out. Listening to your review I can see that you guys missed a lot. That's OK. There's a lot to this movie and the first one. I've seen them both many times and I still see things I missed.
Wow… I have to admit to being floored you didn’t realize that Michael had Fredo killed in the boat at the end. Fredo was praying in the boat, then they cut to Michael watching from the boathouse, and a gunshot rang out. After Michael confronted Fredo with Fredo’s betrayal, he told Al Neri that he didn’t want Fredo killed until his mother’s death. Once his mom died and Michael hugged Fredo, he gave Neri a nod that it was now time to execute Fredo. The scene at the end where you saw Fredo and said he had “lived to tell the tale,” was a flashback to his father’s birthday party. I mean, there were several characters in that scene who were already dead by the end of the first movie! Perhaps it had been too long since the first one, and that impacted your attention and engagement with the second one. 😢😮
Fredo would've *NEVER* hurt little Antony. Micheal just wanted him off the boat because it was time for Al Neri to kill Fredo. And Fredo did not know that Roth was going to kill Micheal. Fredo was a niave fool, not a killer, especially not against his brother.
Hey guys. You should try a reaction to a movie that came out the same year as GF 2 called Chinatown with Faye Dunaway and Jack Nicholson. The Writers Guild - that is, people who write movies for a living - always rank it in the top 3 scripts of all time with Casablanca and The Godfather. It was Roman Polanski's last movie in America after his wife was murdered by Charles Manson. This movie will challenge you in every possible way. There are so many videos about it on You Tube but you guys have a unique perspective that would be cool to see. Hope you can get to it soon!

I was maybe 10 when my parents were watching this on TV. When Robert DeNiro/Vito Corleone gutted that guy like a fish in his chair I was so startled. I remember it clearly to this day. The acting in this movie is incredible.
One of tje best movies ever. But in many ways they glossed it over compared to the book. The book goes into how dark Michaels calls can be. Like the scene where they murder that hooker just to set up the congressman. In the book.. the family pulls extremely dark moves like that all the time. The first movie as well.. like Luca brazi. The movie shows him as a hard man.. but in tje book he literally throws his own baby into a furnace. Its like the movies portrayed the entire family with more honor and integrity.. where as the books portray them the way real mobsters are.. lying, murdering, thieves. Who have no problem killing women and children.
Guys, would you please consider not blurring parts of the films you review? The eye naturally tries to bring a blurred image into focus, and the effect of constantly bringing the clips you use in and out of focus is really hard on the eyes of some of us watching. Personally, I've had to stop watching other reaction channels I really liked because they do the blur/unblur thing. Would you consider using another technique to stay on the right side of copyright? Not a demand, just a sincere request. Thanks for considering it.
The reason for the creepy music... 13:32 Fredo and johnny ola act like they don't know each other and michael hears it.....14:07 Fredo tells a friend how johnny ola brought him to his place before, and micheal hears that too...he realises fredo is lying to him.

fredo dead, floating in the lake..Michael said you can't do anything to Fredo until Michael's mom died after that we're just waiting around to see how he goes. Michael knew that Fredo betrayed him ironically the same way that Michael was taught in the first movie to know betrayer. food by the way the dancing scene is a good giveaway as to why Michael knew cheers you all
Fredo actually didn't live, that last scene was a flashback to when both of Michael's brothers were still alive. Just a quick cut back to show that, from the beginning, Michael was a loner, and somehow different. It's pretty unspeakably bleak how that difference played out in his life, though.
Remember the nightclub scene where Fredo let it slip to that one guy that Johnny Oehler told him about the nightclub? He sounded like he was a buddy of Johnny's. That is the reason for the look on Michael's face during that scene. Earlier in the film Fredo told Michael he really didn't know Johnny Oehler.
Mike knew it was Fredo because Fredo at first said he never met Johnny Ola, and then when they were in Cuba on New years, Fredo let it slip out that Johnny Ola took him to the place. So at that point, you see Mike look away. Because he knew....
Robert De Niro character of Vito showed where his predessor threatened the community with extortion so De Niro took him out and became the Don that the community respected but still feared
Every time I see Michael sitting alone at the end, all I can do is look at him in disappointment and shake me head thinking "Your father would be ashamed of you." Am I wrong?
I think he would be disappointed in himself because this is the reason why he didn't want Michael involved in the life. You're obligated to retaliate against enemies, some of those people may be friends or family. Devastating but necessary.
This was my father' s favorite movie so I've seen it more times than I can say. I don't think you are wrong. I think Michael could of made some different choices that would of resulted in different ending. I hate Godfather 3 so much because 1 it 🤮 & & 2 I think 2 had perfect ending. The scene when Signor Roberto tries to get in Vito's office was rigged deliberately, so that a nail was stuck in the door lock. Francis Ford Coppola wanted the actor playing Signor Roberto to improvise the scene, which really works.
Absolutely straightforward & simple, cannot understand how they don't know who the MAIN CHARACTERS are!?! WOW! DA'🤬. lol
They knew.. just in the beginning she wasn't sure who the kid was.. but they quickly figured it out.
I mean, they were still calling Bran Bronn until the very last episode of GoT...
@@joshythehand2960 she thought the final shot of Michael Corleone aging WAS FREDO... who we just saw get killed on the fishing boat...
It amazes me how many ppl miss the look Michael gives Al Neri when he hugs Fredo
That's the moment when I went oh shit, Neri is going to have to do the job and he was saddened about it. But prostitutes, no problem.
One of the few sequels better than the first which was incredible already
The sequel is amazing, but I will always love the first movie the best.
Nothing beats the original.
The Godfather trilogy is one of greatest trilogies of all time. Love your Channel Asia and BJ
Nah screw part 3. Walk away a winner after this one
6 months ago. Do y'all even remember the first movie
My grandfather came from a town very near Corleone, and I still have family there. Sicily is beautifully dramatic, isn't it?
It's neat. Poor Sicily was occupied so often way back in the day, that it took on bits of other cultures.. like the moors. I , at least, can even tell the difference between them and mainlanders just by their sense of humor and how they carry themselves.
@@joshythehand2960 Yes. The tale is in my DNA---like a list of every culture in the Mediterranean from Iberian to Greek.
@@johannesvalterdivizzini1523 I feel what you are saying. I'm Spanish on my mothers side.
🔔 ASIA @ 44:55: ??? FYI Fredo DIED. He was shot while fishing in that little boat.
She's pretty dumb. Fun but dumb.
Vito Andolini got given the surname Corleone by mistake by desk clerk at immigration at Ellis island
Se podría decir que ese empleado de inmigración intencionalmente dio origen a “La Familia” pues al darle el apellido Corleone salvo a Vito de una muerte prematura, nada posterior hubiese ocurrido sin este suceso.
the comedian Sid Caesar's family got their name Caesar because his family were tailors,
& the immigration official misunderstood 'scissor' as 'Caesar'
43:18 I only just realised that Michael sits down and lies back after Fredo is killed just like Fredo lay back when he confessed!
Finally! I thought y'all would never get back around to part 2.
They really need to do these much closer together because they can never remember simple things about the first movies when watching sequels
Fredo was killed on the boat at the end.
Yeah, not sure how Asia missed that.
@@sebastianblack6506 😂
@@sebastianblack6506 When she said "Fredo lived to tell about it", I don't know how on earth she didn't realize he was killed on the boat.
You know what’s sad about Fredos death, he would’ve likely shaped up to be a great uncle to Anthony
The Teddy Pendergrass line made me legit LOL. 😂
Y’all edited out the attempt at Michael’s assassination at his compound, both scenes with Hyman Roth, and the attempted killing of Pentangeli. 😢
I was obsessed with these movies and the book as a teenager. I definitely rewatched this one the most. The back and forth storytelling is great.
Wow…
I have to admit to being floored you didn’t realize that Michael had Fredo killed in the boat at the end.
Fredo was plotting against his own brother.
@@lymphomasurvive
Yes to get something of his own, but not to kill him. Again stupid and naive.
@@arrow1414 Fredo understood what he was doing.
@@lymphomasurvive
No he didn't. He should've known, but he didn't, unlike Carlo having Sonny killed.
The greatest sequel ever made....literally the perfect movie 🇮🇹
Is there a figuratively perfect movie?
Did you see Taxi Driver? Dinero very young in that movie masterpiece. Al Pacino in Dog Day Afternoon is a great early film of his, it is soooo good.
De Niro
Love these two, but man they miss a lot 😄
What happened to the bit after the wedding ?.The attempt on his life. The main charactor Micheal? The Godfather.
5:20 the Italian mob during that time in their home country were absolutely disgusting with some of the acts they committed, they made all American mobs look like theater actors reenacting the horrors despite all the sick things theyve done
Robert de niro as young vito was the perfect choice
"On New Year's Eve, Fredo pretends not to know Johnny Ola, Roth's right-hand man, but later inadvertently reveals they know each other, leading Michael to realize that Fredo is the traitor." - wikipedia
How could you miss the bit where Michael realises it was his brother that betrayed him.
That scene when Kay leaves Michael is nerve-wringing stuff - that simmering tension. He flies at her like fcking Superman.
Did yall skip some parts or something I gotta rewatch now
It takes a few rewatches of both I and II to make sense of everything. I’ve watched both more times than I can count and always pick up something new. Best of the best!
Damn, somebody edited out some of the best parts! Extremely hard to follow, unless we saw the movie already❤
Maybe the best movie ever.
One of the best movies. The music, the acting and the cinematography. The prequel and this one are referenced in a lot of movies and tv shows.
Hey guys. When fredo said he didn't know johnny olla cause they never met.. but after a few drinks he said Johnny olla is the one who introduced him to the same place they were being entertained. When he let that slip mike knew he was the inside guy for the hit.
I didn’t know you guys went to Italy and saw The Godfather Part 1 & 2’s sites where they filmed!?!!! That’s awesome! I feel like I’ve been living under a rock now 🤣
Thanks for this one! Absolute masterpiece!
I was maybe 10 when my parents were watching this on TV. When Robert DeNiro/Vito Corleone gutted that guy like a fish in his chair I was so startled. I remember it clearly to this day.
The acting in this movie is incredible.
Y'all weren't on your game on this one. You miss details when you got fistfuls of 🍿.
Not to mention BJ glances down at his phone once in a while . . .
Unbelievable, Rocky's "Yo Adrian" as spoiled sister Connie Corleone here in this movie.
13:17 was still the party in Nevada then you guys cut to Cuba 13:25
That’s a big jump
The Godfather and Godfather II are my favorite movies.
De Niro and Brando were the first actors to win a academy award for the same part. It happened again with Joaquin Phoenix & Heath Ledger for Joker
One of the best sequel movies ever😮❤
The reason for the creepy music... 13:32 Fredo and johnny ola act like they don't know each other and michael hears it.....14:07 Fredo tells a friend how johnny ola brought him to his place before, and micheal hears that too...he realises fredo is lying to him.
The dudes at the club are the ones who called Fredo on the phone when they tried to get Michael. Fredo said he didn’t know them. But he didn’t know Michael was standing right behind him when he was talkin about the dude he said he didn’t know.
He knew. He was just drunk and didn't realise he was telling on himself.
fredo dead, floating in the lake..Michael said you can't do anything to Fredo until Michael's mom died after that we're just waiting around to see how he goes. Michael knew that Fredo betrayed him ironically the same way that Michael was taught in the first movie to know betrayer. food by the way the dancing scene is a good giveaway as to why Michael knew cheers you all
come on guys... this is a great movie and you definitely "reacted" to it. Doesn't seem like you understood much though, so 🤷♂
It's a very complicated movie with lots of characters and plot twists. It took me several viewings to catch all of what was going on.
That wasn't a riot, guys. That was the Cuban revolution.
That was when Fidel Castro took control over Cuba as a communist dictator.
Godfather 2 is basically a prequel & sequel in one feature film.
Robert De Niro character of Vito showed where his predessor threatened the community with extortion so De Niro took him out and became the Don that the community respected but still feared
The little boy that came to America was Vito, he grew up to be the Godfather in the first movie, played by Marlon Brando. Michael is his son
@ 45:10 ... Did you miss when Fredo was shot in the head in the fishing boat? ... What movie were you watching?
Fredo got shot in the boat guys 😂
Now go watch them both again and your eyes will catch so much more!!
Michael alone all alone suffering from his actions. The viewer could of imagined what happens to Michael after that. Godfather 3 so 😢
Michael is trying to go legit.
