Speaking about a backup plan.. I have never seen upsc cse as a typical career option for which I need a plan B, it's my dream job. If I won't be able to do it.. there's nothing like 'job' for me. It won't matter which job I do instead of upsc, it will be a bane for me.
It's literally my aim from the time I was in class 5th, 10yrs.

I'm in class-8 and want to be an IAS but my Maths is weak and I am trying to do my maths best .
I am taking humanities in 11th . My dream is cracking UPSC CSE .
A lot of people suggested me to go for PCM but I want to show everyone that even humanities student can clear the exam. I felt a little disappointed after watching the video but it's fine.
The only reason I am not taking PCM is that I will never be happy in that stream ... Although all my friends are taking it. I will never feel satisfied in PCM .. in Btec etc. It will make me feel that I am very far from my dream.. in a completely separate zone. But in humanities I will be satisfied even if I wouldn't be able to qualify the exam because I would have tried my best.
Along with humanities I will also practice maths questions ( application based & competitive exams based).

I am in class11 rn with humanities + maths and things are going great so far , with the introduction of CUET humanities students too have now more competition than science students and that will make us work harder , luckily the teachers I have are amazing who not only guide us well but make us interested i subjects too . Taking humanities is a risk if u r not interested in it , but if u r then take it and reach to the highest point of your interested subject because then teaching or mba or these generics is not the only option , one can go into research which is widely spread than even engineering and medical . I feel if a person is dedicated and hardworking enough along with interested that person should opt for humanities because he might just do wonders .
Edit - Idk why sir said that but tbh from what I have researched and enquired humanities and commerce graduates have more backups than even science students but one must know the way to use their degree and studies or else does not matter even if u r graduated from the best possible college and the best course
