I dont mind paying back my loan, just get rid of the interest.
This.
And jail the ITT tech CEO. Oh, I forgot they filed bankruptcy and ran 🏃♀️
That's what I told my mortgage lender.
He laughed, the security guards laughed. They all laughed as they carried me out of the bank. Laughter is contagious! I was laughing by the time we got to the door, but it changed into tears as I rolled down those hard concrete steps.
@thevoiceofreason6339 I feel your pain bro !!! Whatever you do, don't go on a mass shooting spree!!!
@@thevoiceofreason6339 this is a Federal loan though. It should be interest free. They tax me enough already.
The root problem isn’t debt. They need to fix the problem of the cost of education. Forgiving debt just kicks the can down the road. The university system is broken!
🎯
Why not both???
Who is they? Students are still choosing to pay the insane costs so universities have no incentive to lower fees. That said, I think people are waking up to the fact that there are better options for setting up your future: trade schools, local (cheaper) colleges, etc.
Taxpayers are now responsible for this loans.... no wonder the inflation is going through the roof😢
For now, there are free courses you can take that are offered from a lot of colleges. Even Harvard and Stanford offer free online courses. Of course this has nothing to do with alleviating the problem you correctly identify.
If they stop those predatory interest rates, it would be a huge help. To be making payment for years but balance increases is discouraging.
Amen !
Why not just make a law that student loan debt gets taken off our credit reports?
The Bosses wouldn't go for that! 😂
while your at take my hospital bills
off the credit report. or that credit card i couldn’t pay for 4 years ago
Because credit card companies have more political sway than students
Why not just make education free for Americans and charge migrants for housing medical
Because it shouldn’t, you took the risk now deal with the consequences
School tuition just needs to be regulated. It has to cost based on the return on investment of your degree.
That's never gonna happen since there is very little investment on most degrees they offer
There would be a lot of unemployed teachers. A lot of subjects taught don't make money.
The only reason these teachers have jobs is the degree requires those worthless classes to 'round you out'.
Supply and demand. Don’t pay for it! Prices will come down.
Education should not be a for-profit industry. It's inherently a conflict of interest.
Other countries give free college but we use our money to start wars overseas
Nobody qualifies to this shady forgiveness. I am waiting to find someone a real human not a robot who qualifies to this forgiveness.
Buying votes.
I have a close friend who got his loans wiped out. He is in his 40’s and qualified under the forgiveness for those who’ve been making payments for 20 years.
I know a lot of people who had student loans, myself included. I don't know one single person who has benefitted from any of Biden's loan forgiveness. It's no wonder students are leaving high school and getting jobs instead of going to college. They may as well start closing some of the colleges now. This is all one big SAD joke.
Real human here. I got it. Been on disability for a couple of decades. I didn't even know this was happening. Then I got an email last week... I honestly thought it was just more spam.
@@blacksheepministry what I want to say is that, not so many people who qualify for this. I didn't get any email lol
I was on the SAVE plan because I’m a low paid call center worker for a retail chain. Business/IT degree but still no job offers over $18 hr. I just checked my email. Its dismissed!! Happy dance…Whoot whoot🕺 💃
Lol, you want over $18 an hour to get hung up on all day? Your either thinking to small or to big. Dunno what you can do with a "business/IT" degree but your looking for job security without starting your own company look for a factory job or a machine shop and work to sell yourself. Smallish companies are always looking for competent people who will put in the work
$18 an hour isn’t enough for a studio apartment in most areas
Congratulations!! 🎉
Where did you go to school, ITT tech??
Bum.
Well I owe $29k so I’m just gonna keep postponing payments for life 😂
Same.
How? I know that payments recently resumed so wouldn't it start to affect your credit?
@@jyllian3990if you make under 30k you can basically get a zero $ bill. So basically you are paying nothing so it doesn’t nail your credit but you still get interest added. However after 10 years the debt goes away.
@@jyllian3990deferment for life
Yup😂
Thanks Joe. This is 0.075% of total student loan debt. Well done. Why have we sent 300 times more money to Ukraine and Israel?
Ask a republican.
They didn’t even want to give what little has happened. The current administration had to find a workaround to even get this small piece of debt forgiven.
It’s a shame and mindblowing that old Joe Biden is the one to have forgiven more student debt than any other president. Maybe if we taxed billionaires just a teeny teeny bit more (maybe at the same rate as all the rest of us) we could get some more meaningful stuff done. Guess who’s never going to raise taxes on billionaires
All our money goes to people who aren’t even Americans. I’m looking forward to hearing how Joe is going to forgive loans if re-elected, despite him saying this prior to his first term.
Would you rather send our soldiers over there to fight this war cause Putin's not gonna stop with Ukraine guess you don't get where those bomb n bullets are being made here. That money will be spent back here in the United States why not give them the money to help them fight this war n win instead of setting American troops on the ground . Besides that money will be spent here in the bomb making states meaning we make that money not these other countries besides they are all sending Ukraine money.
And we are giving out millions more out for new school loans.
Nailed it in 1👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 wish someone would now make a penny of sense to this but it’ll never happen. Smh
Education should be free. This country is in trouble, a lot of stupid folks out there.
You're paying for it through inflation...it's not free
There is no free lunch.
How would it be free? You want professors to work for free? Free supplies? Free electricity for classrooms? Nothing is free; it’s just transferred to tax payers. What you mean is, someone else should pay for my college education
Perhaps we need competition in college instead of government programs enabling colleges to charge higher prices!
If education was free, the cost of living for everyone would skyrocket
So if you worked hard, sacrificed, didn't buy a Lexus, didn't buy expensive clothes, worked a second job , ....what do you get? PRIDE.?....I feel like a sucker😢
Same, it's killer that I prioritized paying extra towards paying off my student loans because all the money gurus said to eliminate debt before building wealth, when I could've just kicked the can down the road and had them forgiven... Doing the "right" thing doesn't pay, that's what I've learned.
It sucks, but that’s life. Some people work hard and earn it, others just get it. Regardless, you now have experience managing your wealth and earning your way. I think that’s a better take away. Focus on building yourself up. I have loans. I am paying them off and don’t qualify for this, but kudos to those that do. Just keep going and enjoy your hard earned life 🤙
One of the reasons I volunteered to joined the military was for a free education 😂 you’re telling me I could have just went straight to college and partied for free. Yet here I am waking up at 0530, running miles every morning, deploying and jumping out of airplanes. That’s a slap in the face.
All the libs game the system and Biden buys votes. But it will backfire on him. For every one vote he buys he made 4 or 5 voters like you mad. Just like all the legal IMMIGRANTS are now flipping red. Get out and vote
I've been paying on my loans for 20 years and I've been in public service for nearly 15 of those. I love the cleanup of the existing programs. I actually get credit for all of my years in public service now! Thank you!
This is exactly what loan forgiveness should be for, not for just anyone that never finished school or studied the arts that is are not working. It should be for people that are serving their community.

Who borrowed less than 12K? What a joke of a program. Big Gov could easily wipe it all out but plays these games.
No freakin one qualifies....
Not the majority of us who earned a degree. Meanwhile, the interest is killing us.
@@Paddyjk8I’m sorry, but you’re an adult. You took out a loan, you need to pay it. Actions have consequences.

It takes a while, but if you start depending on the govt to take care of you, you'll really have a hard life. Take care of your obligations. It's a cold world.
@@Paddyjk8 can anyone go purchase a 60k vehicle and expect to pay $200/month with no interest and be allowed 20 years to pay it off?
No... give more, like if it was a vehicle from which people take a loan for. Same difference.

They keep moving the goal post while people who do qualify aren’t even getting any debt forgiveness. It feels like we are being repeatedly lied to 😂

@@KB-om9ol they are cancelling balances remaining at $12k… not individual loans that were taken out of $12k each… if you borrow more than $12k total and still have a balance of over $12k total, why would you think the two $8k loans you have would both get cancelled if they are over $12k in total? It’s just basic math… and I have a bachelor’s degree but I wasn’t dumb enough to pay for it I got a free ride scholarship. College didn’t do anything for me though in all honesty, I wish I had done other things instead of taking up the scholarships.. the job I ended up doing makes upper six figures and no college required.
Government doesn’t erase debt, it forcibly transfers it to others.
1.2 billion divided 153,000 is 8800. So it’s not wiping debts entirely clean? how does this work
I graduated over ten years ago. My initial loan amount was $60k in 2013. I’ve paid for 7 1/2 years straight, and now after the student loan pause, my loan amount is now $61k. It’s like I’m just starting out to pay. What happened to the 7 1/2 years of payments? And why focus on the loans that are of a smaller amount than the higher ones. It must be a numbers game. I’m 64 and recently retired. I’ll probably be dead before my loan is paid off.
My mum borrowed $30k in 1983, when I was 13. The interest on her loan is $60k. She's in her mid 70s, long since retired and not done yet paying back $90k.
Meanwhile I did a one year vocational cert program in 2006 and owed $3700, and that's all wiped clean now.
Make any sense??
Unfortunately, interest captures lion's share and this is by design. Everyone must learn how to beat this trap. Student loan payment doesn't work like other loans. Years go by and not a dime is applied on principal because of this slick design
Joe Biden doesn't care about you.
It’s not a numbers game; it’s really just a ploy to make him look good. I can hear it now, “Biden canceled student loan debt for 500,000 Americans during his term”. But in a nutshell, it’s really just peanuts for the average American. Most Americans owe tens of thousands of dollars and to make it worse, the balance continues to grow even when payments are made. $12,000 is not going to do much of anything for anyone, especially if the interest continues to compound on the balance.
Simple math folks. Why did you go to collage and retire in ten years? Very PRODUCTIVE human. Poor decisions at the minimum
He doesn’t care for struggling tax payers! He just needs more voters who are not cared either !
So apparently those of us who are paying off students loan for 20+ years aren't struggling. Got it!
Between 1978 and 2018 college enrollment went up 78%, faculty went up 92% (basically actual professors and teachers). But the number of administrators went up 164% and the number of other professionals employed grew by 452%. Colleges have literally become a jobs program of unnecessary positions not directly related to educating students, all being paid by those students. In 2025 many colleges are starting to hit an employment cliff when these ratios compared to students become unsustainable, which will force many to close entirely or drastically reorganize and shrink.
Student loans used to be affordable before government got so heavily involved. My parents both put themselves through college while working, including all living expenses. As soon as colleges realized govntbess granting loans easily they obviously just kept raising prices, adding more administrative positions and non major related credit requirements in order to justify the added costs of tuition.
No, it's when Govt got out and left it unregulated, that's when the greedy Oligarch's ran the prices way up!! Dude, Govt is there to HELPS US! It's the middle man and big Corp CEO's that are grifting off off our Government and "We, the People"!! Let our Government work for we, the people! There's no way to sustain a living by the means the Oligarchs want to pay us! (Big $$ Corporations). They don't care about any of us workers, to them we're just easily replaceable objects that keep their stock markets going! They aren't even putting their money they make back into the American eco system, no! They hoard it away and buy backs should be illegal again and many other things need to change back to b4 we had a SCOTUS that's been bribed off and politicized too!!
This isn’t even a bandaid
Didn't the SCOTUS say this unconstitutional? How is the president allowed to do this?
Chucky Schumer: "that pesky constitution".
Imagine not being smart enough to read a contract but thinking you're smart enough for college....
I'll take it if I'm eligible for it. But, right around the elections ? Come on, JB!!!😂
One lady working at SCU got her $263,500 loan debt erased.
My monthly payment is over $900 a month and I'm unemployed, have been for a few years. When I was employed, I tried to get a manageable payment plan, yet it was still over 70% of my living wage! If I die, my life insurance wouldn't be a drop to pay if off. My anxiety ratchets up with every monthly statement.
I am on an IDR plan, have been for a while. Just watching the interest for the last 18 years...I wouldn't have gone to college had I truly understood the ramifications. It was completely wasted because I never finished due to mental health, never mind that this vaulted must have education did nothing but drive me into a debt I'd like to pay but have no hope of at minimum wage, which is all I ever managed to work when I could. To be clear, I do not, nor have ever expected anyone to pay my debt. Thank you, GothamsFinest for your reply :)
But which IDR plan? With the new SAVE repayment plan, as long as you make your monthly payment, no interest accrues. Due to my extremely low income, my payment has been $0/month with no interest accruing for months now, it's legit. I feel you, I wouldn't have gone to college either if I'd understood what I was signing myself up for. I took responsibility for it and paid off like 90% of it but the mess with the PPP loans and debt forgiveness have soured me on continuing to pay... @@teresamorris9278
Why are you unemployed? According to JOE there are jobs everywhere... wake up libs, you are trying to destroy America. Where will you go next? China??? Wake up
1.2B for students.
76B for Ukraine.
Cool man
So, there are better ways to help people pay off student loan debt besides straight up paying it for us. Having it on our credit reports is unnecessary, and it only increases the cost of education because nobody can overcome the penalty of over $100,000 in debt. You can’t even rent a home with a bad credit report, as well as buy a car, etc.
Student loan debt should be paid off, but it should not be a barrier to getting transportation and housing after school, especially in rural areas with no public transportation and few job prospects. Having student loans off our credit reports doesn’t mean we don’t want to pay, it just is another way to help students after school so they can actually be successful and pay off that debt.
There is no real reason to have educational and medical debt on credit reports.
The Dept of Ed needs to figure out how they can process these 24/25 FAFSA. Schools cannot award financial aid for incoming students until they figure this out.
What’s the email we should look out for?
It's not really forgiven! Someone has to pay for it! So Americans are paying for it!!!!! And it sounds like its selective for who is getting student loan forgiveness!
Yup, people like me. We owe hundreds of thousands in student debt and pay hundreds of thousands in taxes per year.

Sounds like they're being super selective about who they help and it sounds like they're not actually helping the ones who need it the most.

And yet it applies to about 150,000 people.
You can pay for WAR we dont know anything about but you can't pay OUR debit?? I will vote base of the results.
and where's my email saying they're going to give me back the money I already paid off for all my students lone
Meanwhile the student loan companies are allowed to keep operating and issuing as many loans as they want to. If you want to fix the student loan crisis, you have to first STOP ISSUING THE LOANS.
Maybe regulate the colleges prices and drop interests would be extremely helpful...heck why not add 2 more years of free school that veers towards teaching white and blue collar job skills, like many other countries do along with free healthcare...Lord knows we already pay for it, let our tax money work for us!!
Instead of forgiving student loan dept, the government should give billions to foreign countries Instead.
I keep getting emails I am approved but no coarse of actions have been taken, who can I talk to and get this resolved asap????

Wasn't Biden, started under Obama and has continued. The goal posts for the one who commented have been moved in. Obama at 15 years, Trump to 20 and Biden to 10
The government should having and incentivized program instead of outright forgiveness. They should give people with student loans credit towards their taxes on their job. That credit would be used to directly pay their student loans until they were completely paid off🥳
So, I get to pay for other people's college education, and my own? Because I don't qualify. That's wonderful.

I’m happy to pay some loans but this money doesn’t exist, we are just printing money and causing inflation. If we must pay, pay for those in the most demanding fields, healthcare and skilled trades.
America seems to be literally discouraging graduate and post grad degrees with current costs of universities. Will lower enrollment force prices to come down (because realistically most degrees/jobs you can get seem to be not worth the cost which should discourage people from going at all) or can we do something to help the insane cost to begin with?
Student loan debt needs to be eliminated and made illegal tbh
Don't get worthless degrees that cost 6 figures. Learn a trade no debt and a skill set that is transferable almost anywhere is way more valuable then a piece of paper.
