It's always awesome to see parents support their kids endeavors. There are many vtubers that do their vtuber thing and have a side hustle too.
Some of them make bank, and Vtubing is actually the side hustle
@@MoleculeXmolecule Nowadays if you're part of Hololive, sure or possibly OG Nijisanji. And a handful of indie vtubers that's been around since the haydays.
If we're talking about the start back in 2017/2018 or even fresh 2023 vtubers now, it's hard to get popular in the space unless you get showcased other places to get a bigger audience.

Miko is an OG, she knows how difficult it is to claw her way to the top. Now she has tens of thousands watching each stream.
Miko had a very rough start as she was a failed project as a "Kizuna Ai" clone. She had to start from scratch after she was absorbed by Hololive.
The OGs know hard it is. PewDiePie has a 100 subs announcement video where he is incredibly happy of that achievement

People take for granted that being in hololive means getting lots of subs right away. The girls at the start, like Miko, had to struggle day to day and worry that they may never get noticed, much less make any money. A lot or channels got demonetized or banned because of youtubes stupid policies regarding ASMR some time ago plus some of them being "too lewd" thus hololive summer being put on hold for so long.

Yep. Very few, and I mean, VERY few even openly have face reveals out there. Layna, Tricky, Kson (whom streams live half the time), and to a lesser extent, Lily, do. But they all prefer consent before any such reveal. Layna, Tricky, and Lily were all flesh tubers back before VTubing became a thing, so their faces are out there. And sometimes on their twitters. But it is best to respect their privacy.

The game, at least the English translation, says that the game chat sent is using a site she trusts and uses often. Given, you should still not click any links sent by chat anyways, but it somewhat gives a bit more credibility to it.

I literally just saw that clip XD. I was curious so I also checked Pekora's vod since the clipper didn't show it. Now, I don't understand Japanese so I had to go on Pekora's usual ticks when it comes to hesitation or apprehension, but she clicked the link without hesitation as well. Her ticks did start to show up as she was in the download screen though.@@samakechijowo

Not an expert on this, but the actual process seems foolproof enough, especially if if she's made it a habit to turn on her Vtubing app on her phone first.
@@1UpEXP It wouldn't even matter if she did start a stream without turning on the app because OBS is set to pick up the output of the app itself, not the phone's camera. So the tracking app has no mechanism to display camera footage where the model is. It's not like in the fake game where you have a live webcam view and then press a button and it turns into a 2D model, there's never any actual camera feed.

real talk this trope is so common but its actually super hard to like accidentally switch to webcam while using a vtuber setup. big vtubers are all using iphone face tracking that uses an infrared camera and i doubt they have like, a webcam plugged in.

yeah, the app used in this game is more like a filter than an actual vtubing app.
It's a credit to this game that when the stalker game reached Nina's apartment, I genuinely got a feeling in the pit of my stomach, like, "oh my god, it's really her apartment!" even though said apartment is, also, a pretend digital space that doesn't really exist. But that's emotional investment folks.

Back when face rigging was new, I wanted to start vtubing, but news came out about the program I was considering at the time showing real face instead of the avatar due to a bug and that made me too scared to ever start. I wish it didn't stop me back then. This game, while it has some exaggerated portions, spells out a lot of realistic fears everyone in the vtubing community feels, whether as a talent or a fan.
