    Always thorough as usual. I think I might need to make one of those model trees to explain the basics to new groundies...

    Hello Reg, Im researching winches at the moment and am not a fan of aluminium (brit spelling)....good old predictable steel is my preferred option. There are too many offerings out there with big price tags and some have overly engineered alloy backplates and an interchangeable sailing winch/ bollard setup with rope capture cleat and more stuff to go wrong. Im all for simplicity and usability and even tho i passed this over initially( I dont remember why ) I find myself back here looking at it in more detail after reading up and looking at the competition. I’m really liking the dual aspect bollards, the steel construction and the robustness of the design.Only thing i would’ve liked to see is a double ratchet strap attachment setup but I do appreciate the choker point at the bottom probably negates the need to strangle the tree to death with 2 ratchet straps. Now you’ve pointed out some of its features and cautions I’m going to have a look at one if I can find a nearby stockist. Nice vid bud.

    +Reg Coates,
    Great video. I've just watched this 3 times as I'm interested in the rigging techniques and I'm not even a climber! It comes from my old Royal Engineers days; turfors and other rigging drills.
    So glad you're uploading again.
    Brilliant.

      jbss7382 3 times? What did you gather on the third view that you didn’t on the first? There’s no work being done, it’s just a product overview.

    Reg I think it's time for another video demonstrating the use of the Stein RC-3002.

    Great advice on Rigging Reg ! Using the RCW3002. It would be great if you could make a video in the future of it being used on a big take down , to show it in action !
    Does the negative loop ever tighten up and lock over the rope around the bollard acting as a unwanted brake on the line ?

      boyse69 Hi Phil. No, the fairleads do a good job of stopping the lines overlapping.

      Morët Molina Stein Vega. I got it for free because of my association with the company. But having had it 3 years now feel no need to change. It's light but durable and very comfortable too.

      Reg Coates have you considered the monkey beaver saddle. If so i can recomend this product i have used it for three years now and it is very comfortable saddle. Your tree brother mark m molina from flint michigan usa. Your thought's. Please. Thank you

      Morët Molina I'd consider it if I needed one....but right now I don't need one. The Vega had a fee years left yet.

    Lots of good info/reminders in this video Reg. When you routed both lines between the bollards it looked like there was a possibility of them rubbing together or fouling each other. What do you think?

    • @briankennedy1313
      @briankennedy1313 6 років тому

      David Dobedoe right yeah the ropes definitely can’t touch when they’re running.

    • @Recoates
      @Recoates  6 років тому +1

      David Dobedoe They're close, but they don't touch. Max diameter is 3/4 inch or 19mm

    • @briankennedy1313
      @briankennedy1313 6 років тому

      Reg Coates thanks for that. Was thinking it’s not likely Stein would blindly place the bollards and not set them to receive a max diameter without interference. Really like the removable winch. It’s giving the GRCS a run for it’s money. Btw, the guys that hate watching you tube videos still enjoy watching yours. Quality not quantity.

    Thanks for the considerations. Is the device able to simulatneously run two ropes of that size or will they chafe against each other because of their size relative to the distance between the two barrels?

    • @Recoates
      @Recoates  6 років тому +1

      earthsskin max diameter is 3/4 inch, or 19mm. Yes there is adequate gap when running 2 lines. Thanks
