  • As part of some changes I'm making to my sticker shop, I picked up a Silhouette Portrait 3 machine to cut stickers. In this video I walk through the entire process in detail for setting up the silhouette, importing designs and setting up the cut lines and cut settings, printing, and cutting the sticker sheets with both die cuts and kiss cuts.

thank you so much its so helpful..
can i ask u something please...
when do we suppose to add the cutting colours? like when u said that the blue is for die cut and red is kiss cut, how do we add the cutting colour to our stickers? is it automatically selected from the app and we just have to decide which one is kiss cut and which one is die cut?

You can set the line colors yourself in Silhouette Studio and then you can also set which cuts happen for each color. After you open your image in the Design tab and get your edges detected, you can click the edge lines to select them. Then in the "line style" panel (icon is 3 horizontal lines) you can choose the line color.
Then in the "Send" tab you can select "Line" at the top, instead of "Simple" and you can assign which color is associated with different cuts.
      I hope that helps!

Sorry if I missed this but what paper are you using please?

I've used a lot of different sticker papers, and what will work for you depends mostly on your printer (and, most importantly, the SETTINGS you use with your printer) not the Silhouette machine. I find that the "stampcolour" brand typically has very informative labels that explain the thickness, whether it's waterproof, etc., but I would recommend getting small packs of sticker paper and trying them for yourself.

Mam, how you added the settings for kiss cut? 😢

I did cover this in the video :)
TL;DR: I searched for recommended settings for my sticker paper and found a table published by Online Labels and did some test cuts. You will need to figure out the right settings for your paper & machine by doing test cuts of your own. If you find that it cuts all the way through the paper on a certain setting, turn down the "force", and potentially the "blade depth" until it gives you the results you want.

Hey can u please help me with this:
So my issue is that i use a paper of 150 gsm..now the problem is that my cuts are getting either too deep or not enough to peel them as kisscuts . Even tho those exact settings I'm using are def working on my test cuts but on the actual designs ..the cuts are most too deep ..i tried many settings but nothings working for me . Please help me with this , and save my machine nd materials🥲

Hello! I'm afraid I can't help you narrow down your settings. I am not a support tech, just a person with a machine who is sharing my own experience/review.
I have not used 150gsm paper but I have done cuts on a holographic overlay, which makes the paper very thick. Here are some things I would recommend:
      - google 150gsm sticker paper cut settings and see if anyone else has found good settings for the paper you have, or a similar paper. I got some very close settings by using the Online Labels webpage with many paper options
      - double check the BLADE setting and the SPEED in addition to the cut depth. I had to adjust these to get a deep enough cut through thicker paper.
      - if you want to avoid wasting paper, you may also try making a small repeated design and testing multiple cut settings at the same time with 1 piece of paper. You can also leave the paper on the mat and reload it to try cuts on a different part of paper (I believe I mention this in my video).
      - experiment with multiple PASSES. If the problem is that it is not cutting all the way through, you may need a second pass (I use this most often for die cuts, have not tried it with kiss cuts)
      - maybe try replacing the blade? I do not know how often they need replacement, but if this is a recent problem perhaps your blade is dull.
