We toured every inch of this yacht at Ft. Lauderdale. She is amazing, and with all the opulence, still has the WARMTH that is present with so much of the Nordhavn brand. And you know what else I loved? The crew’s quarters also had incredible space, beautiful attention to detail and amenities that many of the larger yacht builders and designers do not extend to the areas set aside for their wait staff. The folks working as crew on this boat were SO proud of her. This is a traveling work of art. Great job, all around.
@@philippe5523 I am by no means an expert... as far as I know you have 3 relevant speeds on a vessel: Top speed (selfexplanatory), Cruise speed (the topspeed which is sustainable for the engines etc on long term basis) and economic speed which is the one you get the most range out of...
3 things I love about this boat! 1: It LOOKS like a boat. Unlike alot of yachts of today that are trying to look like a trendy, boutique, gadget filled upscale hotel. 2: Design for comfort and use and not for dinner parties, and looks. But at the same time the boat IS beautiful. 3: Happy crew happy guests! The crew quarters... amazing! Room to actually work, rest, and move around.VERY nice.
The engineering under the floor is jaw dropping, the system’s that are put on this Nordhaven is like no other, the installation is worth being in a museum, the redundancy is well thought out, this video does it no Justice. The access tunnel front to back is crazy, the ability to get inside the fuel tanks to clean, I think for $13.5M it’s a steal, I could just walked around for days underneath in the engine room in amazement, for me who likes things all mechanical this is paradise. It’s just breathtaking.
WOW... This is the queen of the ocean right now! You could pull up to a ship twice the size and everyone will be drooling over this one. I know I would. BRAVO!
Stunning boat, would definitely consider something like this to live on if my lottery win could be big enough. Lovely interior, homely without being ostentatious, and a decent size kitchen with workable surfaces. A well designed and thought out family boat, bravo Nordhavn.
I have loved this ship for along time. I play all the videos of her weekly it keeps me grounded. The only thing I would change on the next refit is to take the instruments out of the flying bridge put free standing furniture in and make it a music room with the best sound system known to man, with the biggest tv for music videos. Sound proof it to keep peace in the rest of the areas.
First and foremost, great to see attention paid to the crews quarters. The complexity of the systems alone is overwhelming. It's no wonder these yachts cost so much. And, if I had the funds, I'd be scouting out this brand for certain. Appears nothing was spared in terms of the quality of the "structure".
As Nordhavn’s flagship, this is an amazing vessel. The next owner will be getting a beautiful boat with admirable capabilities. What I do not understand is the current asking price. The original N120-1 hull sat for years after the deal fell apart around the time of the Great Recession. Then, with the build completed for buyer #2, a Canadian owner, that deal went south in a hurry and in a public manor. Owner #3, the current owner, got a deal. Reality is yachts depreciate. As a vessel thats about to turn past the five year old mark since the build was completed, a well documented “new” selling price, US tax not paid, and a yacht market that is cooling from a sellers market to a buyers market, this vessel should be asking about $9.2 - $9.7 Million, not $13.5 Million. The current asking price explains why other Nordhavn’s have come available then sold as this Nordhavn has remained for sale even with significant promotional effort. $13.5 Million is just a unreasonable asking price. Someone needs to have a honest conversation with the current vessel owner that they need to hear, not a brown nose conversation thats what the owner wants to hear. Short of that, this vessel will continue causing its current owner operational expense as the time odometer recategorizes this vessel from one that is 1-5 years old to one that is 6-10 years old. That age transition tends to whack off another 15% - 20% in market value. 5 years is the psychological line between almost new and used, without regard to actual vessel condition. If I was the broker, I’d be honest with the owner, get it priced to sell now or risk getting even less soon. It is one amazing vessel. I hope the next owner shares Aurora’s adventures via social media such as UA-cam. I’m an Aurora fan.
Excellent comment really, though I am not certain I would agree with you on this,,,,, and here's why. First off let's get my bias out of the way, Iove looking at, I would not ever be owning it - even less than 9 with a largest Powerball win ever. As opulent as this yacht is, the most impressive point is the lower deck mechanical, still important of course. Not all the boxes will be ticked for all market segments. I am certain that many owners wanting a primary location in tropical climates will look elsewhere, as this yacht appears more suitable for either cooler climate or someone with sun cancer. The history of this yacht imo adds to it's interest, not take away. To me having any history is better than none, kind of like, worse than being talked about is not being talked about. Your age relevance point is well taken, and as you know this type of vessel does not sell overnight, even at great value. Lowering the price now might be too great of a risk because what would you rather be entering the 5 - 10 year market at 9 or 13? Start at 9 now, yet she still sits on the market, then you have only one direction to go afterwards as there's no refits to bring the value upward. Keeping the value higher should help offset the operational costs (and I am assuming they are very good just from a glance) as the vessel awaits sale, the value of a more experienced Captain with every year behind him on-board is a selling feature in itself. I'm not the Aurora Fan you are, though you would do well to Broker for the purchaser. I would side with the Owners Broker however I am bias as previously mentioned.

You should watch the video of the delivery in 2014 from the shipyard to Vancouver. She encountered heavy seas off the Aleutian Islands and performed admirably. The owners were an elderly couple. Either they passed away or got too old for the ship. They even had a purpose built boathouse for this in Port Moody. That video should be on this channel.
Ive seen several videos of this yacht. I have also noticed that is has had several home ports names on the stern. Does this mean it has changed owners several times too??

Some of the Italian luxury yachts have highly efficient diesel electric hybrid propulsion systems resulting in the use of smaller engines, far better fuel economy, higher speeds relative to engine size combined with planing hulls or semi displacement hulls and transoceanic capability, plus the ability to be silent at anchor. Is Nordhavn pursuing any of these options? Excellent craftsmanship in the Aurora by the way...
I just wonder how such luxury yachts, like this, behave in storm - with all furniture, chairs, cabinets full of glasses, chandeliers etc. and this particular yacht is quite sober.
All loose items must be secured somewhere. I once took part in taking a Nordhavn from England to Malta, 2 week journey, and we went against 7-10 foot waves for days. I did sleep in my forward cabin, airborne occasionally in my bed, could not use the front head. My companions had to sleep on the saloon floor aft. No Champagne (until arrived Valletta).
Nothing will move around in this ship it’s a nordhavn. I have been in 30 foot waves in a 48 foot wooden yacht and the furniture didn’t move. Everything else from cabinet opening and flying around with propellers out of the water have the time. Even the coast guard told us we are on are own Again this ship would handle most furniture can also be brace down underneath.

@@selfdirectedirallc3112 if you read *fully* the original buyer was trying to scam the Canadian government over taxes due on the sale. The whole "unfinished boat" came only *after* the scam was unearthed. Nordhavn *should* have written the contract as they should have, but listened to a scam artist. For that, they are culpable. This reflects on the sales team and *not* on the build quality of their yachts. At trial, Nordhavn was cleared of all claims and the owner had to make the final payment and to pay all attorney fees.
Funny that the "Lemon Law" was only brought to light before the final payment was due on the boat and just as the recession hit hardest. The owner's own words: *_"You have to experience the majesty of Aurora, her stature and magnitude to get a starting point as to your feelings. She is impressive beyond my or Diane's expectations. She exceeds every dream we have had over the last four years in the build process."_*

@@HugoHugunin Thankyou Bob for this I am sick of defending over this legal case as Nordhavn were just a bit daft. People like to create mischief!
I am going to see Nordhavn in the UK next Spring to have a look at these further. I love the 120 my ideal one but non available so maybe one a tad smaller, we'll see.
Nice video....brainless add-on musak is terrible
All those large windows (even the type they are) are a hazard when meeting huge storm driven waves in the open ocean.
While the boat speaks for itself -- no commentary is unhelpful
Too bad Nordhaven doesn't have a few of these girls
They do check their website
severity five years ago you would not be able to hire a experience crew with its history of bad luck or a cursed ship.
