Even though this video is 4 years old I have to say that your skills are fabulous and the bead work is just divine! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I have been sewing for over 50 years and make 1700's women clothing. It takes a lot of skill and patients for the work that we do. I would love to learn how to make my own set of moccasins because I love wearing them. I have to admit that I have about 6 pairs of them. Hopefully one day I will be able to sit down and make a pair. Thank you again for sharing your skill and knowledge!
You do some outstanding work; both in the construction of your moccasins and your fantastic bead work. Thank you for taking time and sharing your knowledge. Whoever taught you would be extremely proud.
what beautiful patterns and how flat that lazy stitch is, I too am a traditional master bead worker and my mother taught me how to make moccasins just like that technique you posted. so I understand how much work goes into each pair. your work is awesome.
Thank you so much for sharing this with the world. My dad never taught my sister and I anything about our Native heritage. He was only half Native, but he was beautiful because of it. I always wanted to learn things like my full blooded friends were taught, but he never even acknowledged his heritage, and that was confusing and sad to me, because it’s the only heritage that I’m not ashamed of being in my blood. What we learned in history was a lie that i learned later in life, and it broke my heart. Anyway, I’m very grateful that I can find things on here, and learn things I’ve always wanted to. 💗Thank you for this💗
You do beautiful work. My great grandma made ours when I was a kid but she died before I could learn. Now I want to learn to make them for my two grandchildren
Any way you could post a video on just the sewing of the uppers, welt and sole in better detail? I like how you use a thinner sole so you don't have to do the "inside out" method. Keep the videos coming!
Wow your work is soooo beautiful! Working on a pair now..but Im needing a little more practice at making mocs ..Now you have taught me a couple of important tips I needed to know. Thank you for posting this tutorial!
I really appreciate this video... you do beautiful work! I like the way you explained all of the steps in this process. It was also nice to see all of the different tools you use for working the skin and beading it. Thank you!
I was wondering when we were going to see how you make your moccasin patterns. I’ve been wanting to make my own but always get stuck because everyone does thing differently. I love your work ☺️ p.s your hands are nice an polished for a moccasin maker!
They look nice and clean for sure, but the clubbing is concerning. Quote from Mayo Clinic. "Nail clubbing is sometimes the result of low oxygen in the blood and could be a sign of various types of lung disease. Nail clubbing is also associated with inflammatory bowel disease, cardiovascular disease, liver disease and AIDS."
I love your sole technique, saves one from having to turn the moccasin inside-out and risk busting beadwork. What’s that grooving tool you used for that?
Thank you the video on how to make moccasins. I also do beadwork on moccasins but never put them put them together. Now I can watch how you do that. You do very beautiful beautiful beadwork on your moccasins😊
I am used to poking the all at an angle through Latigo leather and pricking the top layer of the hide for the beadwork. I will try the way you have shown for something different. Your work looks really good.
These are so beautiful! So many questions how many pairs has he made/beaded. How long does it take to make a pair of these. Just amazed💓 thank u for sharing!
Man, have I been doing my beading wrong all these years...lol. I just watched how he took the beads on hank and straight onto his threaded needle. I always pick through my beads to get even sized ones.
Amazing video... Have a quick question; I bought a pair of vintage mukluks/mocassin boots. They're absolutely stunning and I love them. But unfortunately they're about half a size too small. They're just pinching my toes even without socks on. And I was hoping to wear socks with them in winter.. Do you have any ideas or experience in stretching out leather moccasins? Open to any ideas... I'll do literally about anything to be able to get these boots to fit. Ty in advance for your time. Regards Dawn 🙏🏾
Thanks for sharing. I've beaded 2 pairs already (one back in 2008 second 2019) similar to what your doing now. I also enjoyed your interview you recently post a few days ago.
Simply Wow. So beautiful your moccasins are. Your explanation is very precise. Good job. I would like to buy a pair of your moccasins. Is there any way to buy a pair?
Now that's a quality UA-cam video!🤓 The moggyz👣 are freakin Gorgeous 🤩 Didn't want to watch the old Crazy Crow version of "hard sole" "Cheyenne Moccasin Making" dvd... 😏 (its still in the plastic 😖). I've made scadz of moccasins but hard soles are new for me. Now I know EXACTLY what to do. 😁 Thank you..😊🙏👍
Fantastic, so great to watch and learn. Thank you! I hope it's ok I shared the link on my website? Hopefully to help inspire people as much as it inspired me! I compiled a small list of things for people to do from home at this time. My friend had shared it on Facebook!
Moccasins are too scary for me; always have been. Yours are beautiful. Thanks for tutorial; wish you could send some skill and confidence over this UA-cam. 😀😃
Love this tutorial but did anyone else have OCD issues with how the leather was cut? Lol gosh had me yelling at the screen about wasted hide. Ugh got me all twisted. I just can't waste hide like that.

First and foremost Beautiful work!! What size needles and beads do you use for the whole project? Also what kind of string are you using?
19:38 he says waxed floss for the string
My goodness your lanes are beautiful! They are pretty perfect. Do you add in a spirit bead in your designs? Just wondering. Lol.
Thanks for sharing. I've beaded 2 pairs already (one back in 2008 second 2019) similar to what your doing now. I also enjoyed your interview you recently post a few days ago.

Just beautiful work! Where do you get your beads and supplies from? I’m in awe of your work 🫢 mussi for sharing 🤩
Thank you so much for this video, your work is amazing
Chokma ! Thank you brother for you time .
Do you bead the entire moccasins from front to back BEFORE you attach the welt and sole ?
Nice work kola !
Beautiful what are all the materials and tools used in the video
So neat and tidy...prima.
Great work of art.
Thank you for sharing
Very good video .. I was wondering where you get your soling sheet from.
Amazing! Where do you get your leather for the sole? Is that cow hide? thank you.
Fantastic, so great to watch and learn. Thank you! I hope it's ok I shared the link on my website? Hopefully to help inspire people as much as it inspired me! I compiled a small list of things for people to do from home at this time. My friend had shared it on Facebook!
Very nice. Do you still make moccs?
Where can I buy the rubber bottom that you used for the souls of the moccasins? I am going to be making my very first pair.
Moccasins are too scary for me; always have been. Yours are beautiful. Thanks for tutorial; wish you could send some skill and confidence over this UA-cam. 😀😃
Well done but I can't see the bottom of the sole as to how the finished stitching looks
Thank you very much, my grand daughter says WOW he is cute.
what can people do for the shoes bottom if they have flat feet, the leather is not thick enough project flat feet
Do you have links for the groove tool & awl John used?
awesome thanks for sharing
I wonder if the paper smells like feet! hahahahahahah🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾
On bead work do you stick to rows of 5?
Beautiful work patients when you do bead work it art😊
How far up did you go to the point on creating the curve??
Why does he use “lashing” between the upper and lower pieces?
does anyone know if he tacks down his beads...I notice 5 or 6 beads at a time...wondering?
Does anyone know the needle size he’s using to get through the leather so easily?
Is there a website for getting these moccasins?
how much wider is the upper from the sole would you say? i have to make a childs mocc with just the footprint. first time
Beautiful
very helpful
thank you
i decided i need these shoes. i have heart dis ad i think these shoes would work out great
What type of hide do you use for the sole?
beautiful!
John...Does the top measure out the same regardless of the size of the foot?
Love this tutorial but did anyone else have OCD issues with how the leather was cut? Lol gosh had me yelling at the screen about wasted hide. Ugh got me all twisted. I just can't waste hide like that.
April B I’m same way.. I was thinking John cut closer to the edge.. lol.
I’m sure he doesn’t waste his hide. He can definitely use the smaller pieces of leather for his leather strips, tongues and or baby moccasins :)
There’s plenty of hides running around
Could have been a defect there, that you don’t want on your moccasins. Leather has barbed wire marks, scratches, and differences in thicknesses.
When You were making the moccasin pattern You were making marks without telling us what You were marking, did You make a Mark halfway down??
How do you resize fully beaded moccasins. Mine are too big
Does anyone know what size thread and needles he was using or would recommend when making mocassins ???
Thanks for the Video!!
Gracias,simplemente maravilloso
