He who was once the counsellor of
blond tresses shall fall to the ground.
Let him indeed suffer ruin,
since so often he devised,
with lilies and roses,
so many deceits for beauty.

Weirdly the first time I listened to /saw her performance (years ago), I was annoyed by her excessive gestures and "over the top" interpretation. But as I was watching the whole concert again and again (amazing interpretations and direction from beginning to end), this aria became one of the highlights for me. I now totally agree that she completely nails it, and her theatricality actually makes it so intense and thrilling!
