- A video about XF Extreme Formula (Demo) from a longtime F-Zero fan's point of view.
Please check this video out (straight from the developer): • XF Extreme Formula - A...

Music Used: Select Time theme (F-Zero)
Options (F-Zero X)
As You Chose 3rd (F-Zero GX)
*Footage had to be recorded on Normal and Low settings (the latter mostly), due to the laptop.
*This video may have almost been longer but storage was extremely low at the time of recording.

I'm glad some of the hover car racing games are starting to get the F-Zero feel down.
So, the constantly regenerating boost actually goes hand-in-hand with the "ram" meter. The boost meter is labeled as "O2", and the RAM meter is influenced not only by your speed but by atmospheric conditions as well - for example, it stops refilling entirely in the vacuum of space, and fills faster at surface level than at high altitudes. This basically means that the boost system is powered by oxygen collected via a RAM air intake.
The game's not just going for an F-Zero GX like feel, but also a more realistic take on F-Zero GX.
I like your comment so much, I'm gonna use it in my video. Couldn't have said it better myself.
Those required specs are ridiculous, they need to do some serious optimisation.
I was very excited for this when it was in prototype stage and now I have mixed feelings about it. It seems deeply thought-out and has interesting and fleshed out mechanics -- but the snowball effect from overboosting is rather extreme. Especially on higher difficulties.
IT'S OUT BABY!
I love it. To me Aero gpx feels like F zero X and this feels like F Zero GX.
I'll be getting both games on release lol
Do you plan on making a list of every game you've checked out in a tier list sort of way? Like a list of games to check out or skip on? Or maybe ones that people might have missed? I think that would be a good way of showing people good games to check out and what projects to look out for.
This, Aero GPX and Super Pilot are the closest I feel to capturing F-Zero and not Wipeout
I do need to cover a bit more games before we get there. But I can see some kind of "list of games ranked" video.
@@custom-r, if you want more games, a fella named Niosai has a ranking video on all F-Zero games and other F-Zero like games (excluding Wipeout), so if you want to look for more games, he probably has a few mentioned in his video that you can check out.
EDIT: some of the vehicle mechanics with oxygen, hull, and boost give a different feel that I like.
I really appreciate the effort put into this. I wish there was something obvious that made it a bit more different from f zero tho. However, i get the intent of it being a near direct clone.
I think there's quite a lot of difference here. I mean look at the temp symbol along with the fuel. I think there's gonna be a lot of management to take care of in the higher difficulties. I can already see the risk vs reward. Too high a temperature will probably damage the hull, so you gotta decide if continual boosting and heating up the ship is worth it.
Especially if you need to maintain fuel and hull for an entire grand prix.
Maintenance gonna be a bitch considering all that formula 1 stuff we see on Netflix.
With i5-4460, 8 gigs of RAM and a 4-gig RX 480, the game runs fine on high settings. Once shader compilation and resource loading was complete, I don't encounter stutters anymore.
I love how shameless the White Kestrel's design is
well, did you notice the name Kestrel as well? Look it up, you'll have a really good laugh.
The amount of graphics settings this game has is impressive. I maxed out everything and finally saw my hotspot temps on my 7900xtx reach 100 C. Nothing else has been able to do that. Then I turned "Global lighting" down from "overkill" to "ultra" and my hotspot temps dropped back down to 70 C. Now, that's one hell of a setting. 🥵
The demos leading up to this game were pretty cool as well. Glad to see him branch out from Spark the Electric Jester
(Will you ever review Sonic Riders DX/Tournament Edition and Regravitifed? I know you did Sonic Free Riders with controller support)
The recommended specs aren't even that high the GTX 960 is a middle tier almost 8 years old card. The RAM usage is high for what it looks like. The thing is it doesn't look that great visually but the gameplay seems fine.
Have been loving this game so far, can't wait for full release, it's actually my favorite F-zero indie successor with Fast RMX
Btw, I think the point of Digi-Girl is that she IS the vehicle, as in, she is a digital program that knows how to drive
With the latest Demo Update, it seems like it's a duo between a robot and a regular girl. Not sure which one is Digi Girl, though.
I hope we'll get more of that.
This feels almost like a "simulator" sort of this style of racer. Where the machine must also be managed at its best in order to race effectively.
It makes me wonder what drift turning, slide turning, side-attacks and even quick turning would do to the engine heat, fuel and boost power levels.
I wouldn't be surprised if part of the reason why it needs beefy hardware is because it's brute-forcing the physics.
again, great comment.
Hope this and Aero GPX get console releases (preferably physical releases if possible, but I don't mind going digital if they're digital only)! I lack a good computer, so console is the way for me.
I played the demo and it still feels quite rough at the moment. I like what it's going for, but there's some jank at play. Sometimes the timing of being able to boost feels inconsistent, and collisions feel wonky. I love the sensation of speed when I manage to make it work, though I still fail to understand overboosting.
Also it's comical how the HUD itself gets affected by setting textures to low.
I would watch the announcement trailer that the dev put out. That might help explain it better.
@@kukukachu i did actually! i posted this after my first time playing (though i only really played it twice as of today).
For some reason i haven't felt the boosting inconsistency the second time around, perhaps i still have to play a bit more to really get it.
The ingame explanation for overboosting is confusing because it kind of suggests it only works off of boost pads only, when in practice seems like it builds off manual boosts as well, and there's also little indication you're actually doing, and only gets obvious when you get it rolling as you'll go much faster than you were
well done
Why is the HUD tied to graphics settings?
what happen if the oxygen bar gets zeroed in the race? (aside from choking out of air inside of a metal coffin).
In space, you won't go anywhere.
@@custom-rSo it becomes a more urgent fuel meter in space. Good to know!
ima claim this video as a epic fail of takin a look lol ^^
o boy ima love this i bet ima put this comment befor i watch this now if u at all try to say this is comparble to f zero besides just bein a very well done n good n fun ver of f zero which i can say yes to that but this game allrdy looks extremly easy to me with no challengin super diffcult slid trick u gotta do to win for most guys like in the f zero games so idk i watched some one play it i saw hardly any real skill besides just doin a bit of good timin on boosts n knowin the turns which i can easly do.... bein a game master lol this will be fun ;)
lmfao u didnt even talk pce bro keep tryin thou not rly a actuall takin a look at it video ya gotta have ya words in it have fun thou ;)
those specs tells me this game is slop.
