I bought my '22 Himalayan in February, have put nearly 7K miles on it since. I'm 6'3" 230 and my first 3 cars had under 100HP, so I am used to slow-accelerating vehicles (no speeding tickets in 32 years, either). I needed bar risers and rotated the bars forward to create lots of room for my arms. The stock seat and windscreen are great for me actually, but I switched the rear sprocket to a 36T for an easier highway cruise. It never feels gutless to me unless there's a big headwind lol
I have the 2021 Himalyan...done around 15000Km on it till date.As you said very nimble bike.Even at low speeds it is able to move without changing the gets too much.Cqn easily be used as a daily commute bike, which I do here in Bangalore,India
Been on my 22 Himalayan for over a month now. First bike I have ever owned, learning to ride, got my license on it. I couldnt have picked a better bike, and your channel helped me finalize my decision. Big fan, love what you do! Thank you!
First! I’m in Germany right now and can’t wait to come home and make the 2022 Himalayan my first motorcycle. Thank you Ronin for all the work and effort you put into your videos.
I will be taking my motorcycle endorsement class in August and I have basically narrowed down my bike choices to the Meteor or the Himalayan. This is why I watch your videos, they are very informative and you seem to critique the bikes very well. This will be my first time ever (I am 40 btw) riding or owning a bike and I am super excited for it and feel lucky I have found your channel. Keep up the great work!
Just got my first bike a little over a month ago and I went with the Himalayan. I love it. I’m constantly finding reasons to get on it. It always puts a smile on my face. As others have mentioned though, and I knew this going in, it’s not fast. I will likely get something faster next summer, but I’ll be keeping the Himalayan. Either choice you make you’ll be happy. I’ve driven a car maybe 3 times in the last month.

Hi Old Man, We’re about the same age, I live in the Southwestern US , bought a 2022 Himalayan, I enjoy the ride very much it much lighter than my old HD-Street Glide. I’m in the Philippines right now. I found an motorcycle not sold in the US, a Kawasaki Dominar 400cc paid about $3700 USD “New” , it’s has basically the same motor as the KTM 390 Adventure, “made in India”. I bought it due to being cost affective in the Philippines. Being an older gentleman now , this size of bike I can easily pick up if dropped. I’ll be back in the USA soon , looking forward to Riding the RE-Himalayan, keeping it right side up and on two-wheels. GREAT Channel.
To turn off the rear ABS press and hold the button set between the speedo and the fuel gauge for around 3 seconds. It only turns off the rear, not the front. Its so when your off road you can lock up the rear and not the front so it is less likely to wash the front out.
G'day Ronin from Australia, another great review and a wonderful location, no mate l wouldn't trade places, my life has been bloody amazing so far, and riding a motorcycle you know your alive, keep safe and smiling, catch you next time, cheers mate, Neil 🤠.
Man, I was in Mt.Vernon last week too. Took my 2022 Himi on the back of my FJ from Maryland to the AMA Circus last weekend. Spent Saturday there was hoping to see you. But we had a good time. Then spent the rest of the weekend on back roads and whatnot to Columbus. Now in Kent and leaving Sunday back to MD but going to take a bunch of back roads to Pittsburgh before. Keep up the reviews.
2800 miles on my 2021 and while I miss being able to hit the interstate to make better time on long rides I don’t miss the struggling with a bigger heavier bike.
i got a 2022 himalayan 3 month and 2400km ago, i find the seat uncomfortable at longer trips (80km +) so im going to change it, also because i am 198cm and want to sit a little bit higher, and the windshield is terrible loud for my height so i dismounted it and it is much better to sit in the wind than behind the shield, other than that i love the bike (especially the fuel consumption, average 3,2L/100km) greetings from germany

I just bought one of these bikes two weeks ago and sadly have not had a chance to ride much of it yet. Long story short, it's been back in the workshop under warranty for the last week and a half (I had it a total of two days) due to it stalling in second gear and above intermittently and then not restarting for a while afterwards - the engine just cuts out no matter the revs. I haven't heard of any other issues with the Euro 5 2022 model so far but mine is having a few parts replaced now due to this issue - can't wait to get it back and start exploring!
Hi, I'm lucky enough to own the exact model Himalayan in Gravel grey back here in the UK & I love it!. Being 6'2" Inches tall I found the stock seat pushing me forward so put on a Hitchcock's motorcycles touring seat with extra padding & taller seat and find this a excellent upgrade, stay safe Bob R
Thanks to you channel, I feel I have an interest in Himalayan. Can you tell me about the engine upgrade issue? I come from Vietnam - From an original Hima, I want to upgrade the camshaft, air filter and Lextex exhaust system, will the capacity improve much or not (upgrade to about ~26hp)? In addition to the above, do I need anything else? Thank you very much !

Hi. One month ago I bought a Meteor 350 and have gone 600 miles on it. I feel the suspension is quite hard on my lower back. I wonder if teh Himalayan suspension is better (for lower back support). What do you think? T&R.
A good video. Considering your comments about the soft rear brake I'll have to take a look at mine. And when it's time to replace the tires I'll have to consider a change from the CEATs.
Been enjoying your videos and am convinced that I want the Himalayan. My Honda ST1300 is getting heavier as I get older. I just turned 80 and not ready to quit riding yet after 66 years. Probably no more cross country trips but Ohio back roads are still fun. I am only 45 minutes from Midohio Power Sports where we bought my wife’s motorcycle years ago. Again enjoy your opinions and thoughts on this great sport. To paraphrase: this is Older Man Roaming.
On the gravel comment.. take it slow, learn to stand on the pegs and straight bars as much as possible. Transfer weight on pegs rather than steer or counter steer and you'll get it.. it's just a change in riding style.
Well I have finally done it after two years of considering... I have ordered a 2012 Himalayan. I have a Super Tenere 1200 and an XV950R Yamaha- so this will fit the small bike gap for green laning having sold my little 125cc scrambler and Royal Enfield Classic 500 a couple of years ago... Now the plan is to ride Norway from the UK next year on it, head diwn Finland and into Poland than head back to Blighty again...
On my himalayan they squared off and were to put it bluntly.....frigging dangerous Tar snakes are not their friend. They are a tyre built yo a price and while they might be fine in India they certainly dont like our roads. I have shinko E705's on the himalayan and they are great. I would think once you get decent tyres on it the meteor will be a different bike.
They are a very soft rubber for 40/60 paved/ unpaved roads. In USA we need it the other way around. Same with breaks. You will appreciate those soft breaks off road.
@@MrRourk the E705 's? They are more like an 80/20 paved/ off road tyre, ive run them on many bikes and find them a great all round adventure touring tyre. Compared to the Ceat tyres....well...no comparison really. The Ceat lasted 3500 km, the shinkos are at 5,000 now and about 2/5 worn. I'm expecting a bit over 10,000 kns out if the rear hopefully
Sure glad you enjoyed the 22 Himalayan. You are spot on about the seat. They changed the shape a bit. The best upgrades are the reshaped tank guards and the kickstand. The Tripper is a nice add for those that like the feature, and they widened the windscreen to accommodate that. Maybe the most important thing they did is improve the warranty and roadside assistance from 2 years to 3 years. They made a good bike even better for a minimal cost increase. Thanks for all you do, and ride safe! Dave the 'ol Mid-Ohio Guy.
The '22's windscreen has less buffeting than the older one, for me at least. I test-road the Himalayan when it first came out and the '22 is so much better quality. The '22 US-spec Himalayan has the advantage of not being Euro V, too.
@@nelsdude If you're in the US, your '22 is not Euro V, but actually Euro IV. Confirm this by checking your left grip for a "choke" lever (it's not really a choke, but the opposite). Euro V bikes have no aux throttle lever on left grip.
@@RollinTwentySix Awesome! Thanks! Yes, mine has the extra "choke" control on the left grip. I assume that Euro V means more stringent emissions? Cheers!
The Meteor was a better fit for me, but I chose the Himalayan for it's ability to carry stuff and go off-road. If a Meteor 650 comes to US, I will buy lol
I'm happy that you get to try the new one. Since it's still euro 4 we can do all the mods that you are doing to your 2018 bike. I also only use the tripper as a clock that syncs to my phone. It's easier to see at a glance than the other one. Oh, does that still have the compass or is it like mine with the gear indicator where the compass used to be? Stay safe ✌️
Hey, I believe the 2022 model is Euro 5 (at least mine is here in Australia), will it still fit Euro 4 parts? To answer your question, yes it still has the compass just to the left of the new tripper navigation. Cheers.
@@GiantClock69 somehow California emission standards are only euro 4 here in the states. And that is our most strict standard. I was surprised. And I've been seeing a mix on if the bike has a compass or not. And if you're buying stuff from Hitchcock I think just go by model year. The uk ones are the same as yours.
Many thanks for the walk-around! 👍 I've been on the fence between the Himalayan and the CFMOTO Adventura. Riders are saying the Adventura puts out a lot of engine heat making it uncomfortable to ride, especially in the summer. I'm now leaning towards the Himalayan. Have you noticed high engine heat on your lower legs? Thanks Ronin!
I regularly ride my Himalayan in California's central valley, we recently had 10 days straight of 100+F temps. I wear jeans and never experience excessive leg heat, with or without tactical bags strapped to the front frames. The right side is where the most heat comes from, because of the exhaust, and a crosswind coming from your left will warm up your right leg, while a wind coming from the right will only lightly warm the left leg.
Man I would love to see an update version of this bike with a bigger engine for North America/Europe. Get it where it can do 80-85mph comfortably, and still have that low power grunt. As I really love the look and concept behind the bike. I can only have 1-2 bikes though where I live, and it has to be able to do highway speeds comfortably. So I will probably be looking at Aprilia/Ducati/BMW/Triumph/Honda/Husky/H-D for an ADV bike (or maybe a H-D tourer/cruiser). Tough to chose though, there are SO many nice motorcycles.
I don't like the CEAT tyres on mine either and the tyre pressure leaks pretty quick. Change the caps to steel and change the valves too and a massive difference. Mine is a 2019 Asian model so may be slightly different.
I have not looked for Himalayan yet but does anyone offer Upgraded Head Support Mounts. Getting the heavy duty head supports was a major part of solving the Bullet 500's vibration issues.
Do you think this bike could do with an engine upgrade? I don't know if the 650 twin would work, but they could make a larger cc single thumper. You could take longer highway trips on it.
@@michaelpatterson6678 100% dude. The "Euro IV emissions" is easy to spot by the "choke" lever on left grip and the horizontal cat on exhaust. I installed the Booster Plug for 2017-2021 on my '22 US-spec and it works as intended. My bike was built 1/2022 and has Tripper. USA (and India) did not adopt Euro 5, our US-spec bikes are BS6+Euro4, US-spec is stickers and DOT-approved old-style light bulbs lol

I recently purchased a 2021 Himalayan but the stock seat hurt my tialbone. I ordered the Royal Enfield Black Touring Rider Seat for the 411. It appears to be a much nicer seat when I get it I am sure it will be a much more comfortable ride. Corbin was an option but 600 is a bit expensive for me right now.
Hey Ronin, a little off topic but how much did the first service cost for your meteor 350. I've heard different people say that they were charged 200-800 dollars from the dealer.
@@mangeshdehadray7979 It is to me. I owned a Kawasaki Versys 650 with a similar style seat. Was never really happy with it. I'm a big guy. Gotta be comfortable or can't enjoy the ride. I know other seats are available. Maybe in the future. I really do like the Himalayan otherwise.
Loving the channel and videos! Such motivation and life in all of your content is a joy to behold! I own the same version you tried, and I had one question: did you experience any buffeting? I tried the stock windshield and the extended version from Hitchcocks, and find both unbearable. Cheers from Switzerland, and ride safe, brother!

Hey pal. I will be in Ohio next week. Mt. Vernon to be exact. I have been looking at this bike ever since it came out. I also have been looking at the interceptor. But I see they coming out with a cruiser soon. Using the interceptor engine. So I might wait and see.
When I was able to test one out last week, I noticed that my right heel would hit the exhaust pipe. It was even worse when standing up. When I say hit the pipe, I mean my heel would rest on top of the pipe. I would definitely change out the exhaust first thing. I also noticed the same problem with one of the other RE bikes. I don’t know, maybe these exhaust weren’t made for a size 12 boot?
My size 13 don't hit a thing, apart from the brake pedal occasionally. I find i did hit the rear brake master cylinder but I'm not worried about it now I have fitted a guard to it. We have only just gotten the tripper equipped ones here so I'll take one for a ride and see if its any different to my 2021
@@RollinTwentySix i have too, finally got it adjusted to where it fits my normal riding position so I'm only rocking my foot back on sn upshift now. They are certainly designed for people with short feet

When are you coming to NZ to do some rides with me? Free accommodation, free food, we could do a south island tour if you want and iron lady can come with or stay with the wife and go shopping etc! Im going to start a business doing motorcycle adventures around NZ would love to get your opinion on the rides! I have a spare bike or you could ask RE for a loaner!
Does that one make a rattling noise when pulling hard, like a load of spanners in a biscuit tin? Sorry! you're American. Like a bunch of wrenches in a cookie jar? Mine does.
Yep, mines rattly and "clunky" as was my 2018, the air injection has nothing to do with it as its disabled on my current one. Part of the enfield charm
Mine too (2022 Euro 5). I can trigger the noise by playing with the throttle at around 3500 - 3800 RPM. Preferably riding uphill. I thought it was the heat shielding of the exhaust, it isn't. Got used to it 😂

Did you get your new muffler and whatnot for your 2018 yet? I'm curious how much it increases the power
Video coming my friend
Many thanks for the walk-around! 👍
I've been on the fence between the Himalayan and the CFMOTO Adventura.
Riders are saying the Adventura puts out a lot of engine heat making it uncomfortable to ride, especially in the summer. I'm now leaning towards the Himalayan. Have you noticed high engine heat on your lower legs?
Thanks Ronin!
Yes it does 650cc versus 411cc. Test ride both and de ide which is best for you
I ride a Himalayan in Texas and I haven’t noticed any discomfort with the engine heat!
I’m getting one when it comes out with the 650 engine!!
I like everything about the RH especially the $$. Being that we are the same size I pay close attention to your reviews. Keep up the good work
Off topic, but are you gonna give more info about the August 27 ride? Thanks.
yes go to my web page. Email me from there
Man I would love to see an update version of this bike with a bigger engine for North America/Europe.
Hear this all the time. In most of the world, those "cruising speeds" are illegal. Get a supercharged Kawasaki 1200 instead.
Have they changed the seat? Material is just not supportive enough, after 1 hour I get pain on the thighs, think it’s to thin and I feel the frame.
I don't like the CEAT tyres on mine either and the tyre pressure leaks pretty quick. Change the caps to steel and change the valves too and a massive difference. Mine is a 2019 Asian model so may be slightly different.
Nice video man, new subscription here! I love that bike! I can't wait to get mine. I have a question, Is the helmet you are using recommended?
I have not looked for Himalayan yet but does anyone offer Upgraded Head Support Mounts. Getting the heavy duty head supports was a major part of solving the Bullet 500's vibration issues.
Do you think this bike could do with an engine upgrade? I don't know if the 650 twin would work, but they could make a larger cc single thumper. You could take longer highway trips on it.
I'm happy I got a early 2021. Seems to be more options for performance upgrades and deleting emissions crap lol.
If it's US-spec it doesn't matter, US did not adopt Euro V standards. The newest US-spec Himmies still take the old "Euro 4" go-fast stuff.
@@RollinTwentySix Do you know this for sure?
@@michaelpatterson6678 100% dude. The "Euro IV emissions" is easy to spot by the "choke" lever on left grip and the horizontal cat on exhaust. I installed the Booster Plug for 2017-2021 on my '22 US-spec and it works as intended. My bike was built 1/2022 and has Tripper. USA (and India) did not adopt Euro 5, our US-spec bikes are BS6+Euro4, US-spec is stickers and DOT-approved old-style light bulbs lol
@@RollinTwentySix Is your bike fuel injected ?
@@michaelpatterson6678 Well ofc it is, it's the same as a 2021 BS6+Euro4 model. All 2021+ are BS6, but not all BS6 are Euro 5.
Hay Ronin, Love your videos, I have a 2021 Himi with 105 miles on it, long story but I love that bike, and I mean I love it, I also have a 2005 883 custom which I have decked out, I get to ride both of the best bikes ever made, I love them both. anyway keep up the good work.

First service is 4 hours at shop rate. Ask your shop what their hourly charge is.
That seat is exactly the reason I don't own a Himalayan, otherwise I would have bought one a few years ago. Gotta be able to move around off road.
I find the seat fine, although I have a 35" inseam, handlebar risers, and don't sit on the seat off-road. One can stand and ride a Himalayan.
No reason to not get because of the seat....it is not 1percent problem
Welcome Andras! Im the exact wrong person to ask, having ridden over 50 years, Ive never even considered it to be perfectly honest. The wind is the therapy I crave, so I take what comes. I hope that makes sense??
@@OlManRonin luckily we have good weather all year round and riding at the Himalayans comfort zone with a helmet wind is never a problem....I ride mine below 3000 rpm most of the time since 2016...mines carbureted.. 😁
Hey pal. I will be in Ohio next week. Mt. Vernon to be exact. I have been looking at this bike ever since it came out. I also have been looking at the interceptor. But I see they coming out with a cruiser soon. Using the interceptor engine. So I might wait and see.
Visit Mid-Ohio Powersports when you're there. Cheers
RE is planning to launch a new Himalayan 450 with increase power and torque before end of this year, desperatly waiting for it.
I should add, other than that, I’m really liking these Royal Enfeilds.
My size 13 don't hit a thing, apart from the brake pedal occasionally. I find i did hit the rear brake master cylinder but I'm not worried about it now I have fitted a guard to it. We have only just gotten the tripper equipped ones here so I'll take one for a ride and see if its any different to my 2021
I wear size 14 steeltoes, no problems here. The gearshifter seemed too short at first, but I got used to it
@@RollinTwentySix i have too, finally got it adjusted to where it fits my normal riding position so I'm only rocking my foot back on sn upshift now.
They are certainly designed for people with short feet
What affordable helmet would you recommend for a new rider looking at buying a Himalayan?
Zov Vertex for certain. I love mine
Hi, just a quick question, what kind of tires do you have on your RE Himalayan? i have the CEAT tires and i want to upgrade them, Thanks
Shinko 700 or 705
How are the Shinko 700s working out so far?
Perfectly video coming soon
Hey man, so tell me what you think about this bike, i'm thinking in buy, but i see youtube's video much people complaining. I'm in Brazil okay. Thanks for you video
People complain all the time. I've had zero issues with mine. It's a 2018, 5000 plus miles. On road, off road all roads. But ride one and see if it fits your lifestyle
Mate it is unfair you seem to have all the fun, looks lovely riding country round where you live. Also does anybody make as good as real world bikes as RE at the moment?
Identical to mine. Great video l.
I have been intrigued by the Himalayan since the first time I saw one. Thinking about getting another bike and this may be the the one that fits the bill.
ABS you need to press 5 seconds exactly no more, no less.. then the ABS blinks
Do you know if the US bikes are euro 4 or 5. In 2022 ?
Good bike for a newbie? Does it sit tall? Thanks.
It was my first bike and I love it. Perfect for me. I'm 6'1" and no issues. I even put the Seat Concepts tall seat and I can still touch just fine. I would recommend that you go sit on one and test ride it. Cheers! 🍻
Ronin, just felt like asking this question.. How is the sales of Royal enfield in US..how far Americans are interested in buying this piece of machine for.. Because price of gas is increasing like rocket height..what to do you feel of the new classic legend motorcycle...
They are booming. Loads of sales on the Himalayan, Classic, Meteor and 650s are all doing well. Fuel, Price, warranty l have factors
Thank you... I wish you become a RE dealer, so that I can help with the spares and accessories.....

Great initial impressions sir. Loved it. You have the Non Abs and now are riding the AbS Switchable one. I have the one in between, the ABS nom switchable one. Lol

seeing these videos makes the choice between a himalyan and africa twin really hard. i want something that i can tour on but both are seeming like good ideas.
I don't know if you are referring to the same Sonny Pruitt that I do, but I like to say, 'I'm doing it like Pruitt' whenever I'm in a hurry.
Its an old TV show line From BJ & The Bear
I hate to argue with a man on his own channel, but I believe that show was Movin' On. Merle Haggard also had a song titled the same. Will and Sonny make it move...
@@davidburnside1233 then don't lol
You just wait they are comming out with a 600 or 650 cc variant of the Himalayan withing the next couple of years.
what is that shirt? Is it protective?
Completely protected
So, here's 2 big questions!
1. When will we see you with the 472 bigbore kit and performance cam?
I feel like it will give you longer legs for the TAT you said you would like to do at some stage!
Answer 1, you won't im happy with the 511 and mild upgrades 2, man I would love too, but I simply can't afford that kind of trip
@@OlManRonin start saving young fella, $1200USD for the tickets and everything else is paid for!
best first bike and bonus it is adventure bike :)
Does that one make a rattling noise when pulling hard, like a load of spanners in a biscuit tin? Sorry! you're American. Like a bunch of wrenches in a cookie jar?
Mine does.
I could hear something to that effect, a few times, when he accelerated from stop..
lol
My 21 does, it is the air injection valve for the exhaust emissions.
Got used to it 😂
Not sure why I keep watching these Himalayan videos, I know I’ll probably never buy one…
Just keep watching!
Over the top on the sound effects - not for me.
ok
I am considering this bike but I read somewhere it leaks oil consistently. Is that a thing? Thanks for the review
Not a drop from mine and never heard of that issue tbh
