Some of these families resort to bloodshed and practices like human sacrifice to preserve their wealth. I believe some families in the elite political class belong to this category. Suppose someone becomes a believer from that family. At a point in the consecration journey of that believer God will ensure that the believer makes a complete break from the family by specifically instructing them to depend on Him as opposed to that family for financial sustenance. I believe the person in question failed to heed God's instructions. The "partaking" may not necessarily be a one time affair. He probably kept "partaking" against God's warnings Abraham may be an example, where he was instructed to leave his parents to a different place.
