Surfside Jetty County Park:
A 15-acre beach park has a paved parking area with handy access to the beach, harbor channel and jetty, a playground, and restroom facilities. Natural attractions are fishing, bird watching, wildlife viewing, beachcombing, and surfing. Surfside Jetty County Park is at the foot of the East Jetty off Fort Velasco Drive in Surfside. Historically, Jetty Park sits along what was the most important harborage during the time Texas was a republic; the site of historic Fort Velasco is just outside the park. Fishing along the jetty and Freeport ship channel is popular as well as strolling the paved jetty which is approximately half mile long.
