I'm from Louisiana, and I went to college at FSU - both states with large gator populations, and I've done a lot of fishing in both states. This is purely anecdotal evidence, but I've found the gators in Florida to be more aggressive than in Louisiana, and I think it's because Florida, having a larger population (of humans), has more human/gator interaction...more people feeding them, and therefore the gators lose the fear of man. I actually like seeing a good sized gator where I fish - they keep the cottonmouth populations down.
My old pastor went to school in Florida. He was fishing with a friend at a golf course pond at night. ( yes, they had permission to fish) he saw a cottonmouth swimming across the lake. About ten feet behind the snake was a large gator. A minute later, there was a big splash, and the snake was gone-- alligator food!
The gators in north Florida, especially the panhandle are more like Louisiana gators, you won't see em unless you go out in the swamp at night with a light.
That definitely looked like a fun day of fishing. You having fun makes us have some great videos to watch. Liked the throw back intro Never gets old. Where it started looks how far it's come. Truly blessed as are we to be able to watch. BIG THANKS JOHN!!!!!!!!!!! Just get another one for me.😊
I fish that spot often, like always have good n bad days but u picked a good day.
That sure looks like fun! Those gaters can go from zero to 35mph in the blink of an eye, so it’s good to be vigilant down there.
Love your video. That kind fishing is fun. Just wish people would have better fishing manors or etiquette, referring to the trash that was left.
I pick up trash every place I fish. It did not used to be like this. Sad.Glad you're having fun here John. I love it here.
Looks like a bunch of slobs down there that can't take their trash with them. Besides that looks like a awesome place never been that far south yet did a little fishing mid state caught alot of large mouths and pan fish! Thanks for sharing.
That looks like so much fun!!
I’d love to go hit some of those canals 👍
being from Fl seeing others coming down and having fun catching fish that you can catch nowhere else in US is great. The spot you were at that you caught most of the fish is one of the best spots to fish for peacock bass from the bank and if you have a kayak a great spot to launch from as the fish get even bigger as you go farther back.
Twice that gator showed he wasn't after the fish, he was after YOU, John!! To that gator, you look like a whole lot bigger meal than any bass or oscar... PUH-LEEEEZZZZ stay on your guard as they are after YOU, Bro!!
Cool to see ya traveling to FL for some peacock bass! Definitely watch out for those gators lol, if you've never had gator meat you might want to give it a try when you get the chance! Stay safe John!
I've found a few spots like that around Dallas. Just loaded with 6" gills and 10" bass. Every cast gets bites.
Instalike for thr classic intro. I look forward to your Florida sends every year
Looked like you had a lot of fun, those gators make me very nervous for you, stay safe 🐟🎣🐟🎣
Honestly after watching a bunch of your videos doing research for my first trip to the area in March, I think the peacock that look different are speckled peas vs the more common butterfly peas. That looked exactly like a specked peacock.
I hired a charter guide a few years back, and we just went from ditch to ditch catching Mayans Peacoks and tilapia, right in the suburbs of Ft Lauderdale. I am going again in May. We shall see what I find.
When in Florida and you fish these types of water you have to stay on the lookout for gators, when tossing fish back into the water you are making a big splash and that’s the dinner bell for gators.
That's the one eyed gator that got Chubbs Peterson's hand!
I'm the same way when it comes to fishing as to catching small ones compared to big ones, I had rather catch many as I can & if I catch a big one that's a bonus, great video, watch those gators now!😂
Lets go fishing big dawg!
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing that looked like endless fun 😊
Great show thank you
Like your Creek fishing that what I'm doing a lot of here in Southern California rivers. Joey
That last spot was screaming top water, better chance for a big one.
That cool,I have fished that area on hwy 41 for years ,caught a lot of fish
That alligator was a determined little fellow!!! Wooooooo weeeeeeeeeee
Always a excellent video from you.ive had pet Oscars, wouldn't like to catch them . peacock bass sounds good,we don't get them up north.
Looks like a really good time! Peacock Bass are beautiful looking fish. 👍
Woo...go black water... that gator just wanted a little peacock to eat...😂 cool video and nice trip. Fish on..
You know I've had Oscar's in aquariums they are very intelligent and voracious
2 of them ate 50 small goldfish a week!
Awesome time man
Those are so pretty. Lol glad you made it back to Florida. I’ve enjoyed these couple of videos!
Hellgrimite always do the job
Great video and great day of fishing John I just got a PISCIFUN FLAME SPINNING REEL RED the 500 for ultralight setup
Nice!!
Yes! Helgrammite action!
Derek one of the days I saw some giant largemouth just roaming around
Try a 7 inch worm or 5 inch shad on a Carolina rig tomorrow. You might catch as many but they will be bigger.
That was a friendly gator 😅😅 great fishing as always!
Nice vid ! That gator was awesome !!
Awesome video John!
I dont think I've seen anybody crank and jerk a hellgrammite and catch fish lol but those Peacock bass are aggressive!
7:35 I was there a few weeks ago 🎣
❤ thank you
Pretty nice action all bet one of your thumbs was pretty raw 👍
No way I continue fishing that spot with the gator. I'd have been out of there fast.
Oh my. Enjoy😊
Lots of peacock action ! Also a little gator action ! LOL ! Always be safe. Pap Blevins
Very cool!
Gator came outta nowhere like John Cena!! 😂
Just wondering can u keep and eat peacock? Which is tougher lb. For lb. Smallmouth or peacock?
them peacocks are pretty strong and people do eat them
"I don't where he came from...." famous last words.
I'll be there this week! My two goal fish are to catch a barracuda and a peacock bass.
I need to get a barracuda
Great video!!!!!!!!
What section of Highway 41 is this, like maybe the mile markers? I'm planing on taking a trip down there and would love to have a little knowledge before I just take off that way. lol
i have stopped at like 20 stops and caught fish off the hwy
John, If you call the friendly gator up by going Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty Kitty. Thanks for sharing. I Greatly Appreciate your videos. God Bless You.
I wish I could of fish that when I was a teenager 👍🏼
I think that's the problem now days...everyone one is caught up in electronic world and the fathers and mothers don't spend quality time with them and nature.
I definitely would not use any lure with treble hooks. I could see one of those strong little fish putting one in your hand.
even alligator snappers can't resist the nikko hellgrammite
Oscars are good eating! You're missing out on some great tasting fish.
If you look you can see the slides where the gators go in and out of the water. those are the areas you need to avoid.
That Gator didn’t want no fish. He wanted YOU!!! Just be careful….
One had wormy markings like a brook trout
Those peacock bass are SAVAGE... LOL
Go John!💥🎣🤙🤠👊
Great fishing man!
While impressive to see my favorite colder water native bass fishing lure doing amazing in that environment, I bet you would have done better with a crank bait or jerk bait, or finesse worm.
Btw was that the regular little Nikko, or the newer big ones?
It's also sad that your catching all these invasive fish, there seems to be no more native bass, which can grow monstrous in FL.
The USA has been invaded by so many different species in the last 50 years, we are in big trouble as a country.
It was the regular. I definitely caught some good largemouth while down there. That will be later videos
In Florida there 15 different species of peacock bass
If you take a small towel and put it on a clip to hang off belt loop. Taa Daaaa slime rag to wipe your hands. I always have one. Your Welcome 😂
How did you find the spots to fish when you go out of state?
google earth, just driving
New vid🎉🎉🎉, let's gooo
You should have tied on a gold an black top water rapala num 11
When are you coming back to the Santa fe
@4:46 you can see the gator open his mouth underwater coming for the peacock!
I wonder how aggressive gators are if a person is in a kayak. I wouldn’t want to be the one to find out. The reason I was saying this is if they didn’t mess with a person in a kayak you could get to lots of untouched water down there. That is probably why it stays untouched because it probably is to dangerous. Just guessing!
i kayaked here a bunch last year, didnt have any problems and did catch a bunch of fish
That’s a great bait that you were using, but how far south going to Naples were you from Miami?
i basically went back and forth from miami to evergades city
Thanks for the info and thanks for replying
How do you have that rigged?
zman bullet z hook
From Miami how far south are you from Miami?
Are peacock bass good to eat?
Gators can run up to 35 mph for short distances!
#1.2+k👍🏻🎣👀
Hope you don't leave us and move down there.
hey it has crossed my mind, I do love the hills here though
watch out for falling Iguanas
Oh heck no. 🐊
Hell no I would of ran as fast as I can if from California we got no gators lol
That's the simple beauty dreams are made of. My wife will probably prefer to sit in the truck and let the 2 idiots (thats me and my brother) monkey around with gators, peacock bass and oscars. Ok,let's do it.... 🤪 😜
Love your adventures Brother but please don't take chances 😅, don't do a Steve😮!! God Bless Mr. IRWIN ( MANTIS ATTACK). AS ALWAYS THANKS!!
I was wondering about all the trash you see when you fish. Do you have maybe a biodegradable trash bag, that you could gather that trash and put in your truck to get rid of it later. Or even leave the bagged up trash there in hopes the road crew or someone else would despise of it. You do enough, but I would just want to get rid of that trash. We love you and your Godly endings. Thanks.
Not passing any judgement against this gentlemen but it's important that every fisherman leave the area they fish cleaner than they found it.
Alligator slides all over the bank. 🤦🏻♀️
Like 9 years ago this use to be the best cat fish spot now its just flooded with invasive species
Buzzbait
Soon there will be no more largemouth bass in the everglades. Sad.
that would be sad, i saw a bunch on a few places i went
I hate to see a pile of beer cans in a fishing spot. People are soooo inconsiderate.
I thank God that we only have alligators and American saltwater crocodiles to deal with in America.
#anglrupbrant 😂
Why oh why oh WHY do people litter! How freaking HARD is it to bring a grocery or garbage bag with you! Do better! Great trip brother!
Datz a big gaytuh right dare...
All of that garbage left by fishermen is DISGUSTING
Hey John - Headed down to Naples (Port of the Islands) right off of 41 to hang with the family for a week. You dont need to give away your spots, but are you closer to Everglade City? Miami? Shark Valley? Would love to try and catch a peacock while I am there. Thanks,
all those places have peacocks, Miami side has more id say
Seeing all that trash ,kills me how you can’t carry out what you carry in .
