- Here's a medley/mashup cover of every song from Green Day's Trilogy ¡Uno! ¡Dos! ¡Tré!. It's the 10th anniversary of the release of ¡Uno! and the start of one of my favorite Green Day eras so I thought why not cover every song!

Wow time flies! 10 years ago was when I got into Green Day’s music beyond the handful of songs I knew. I stumbled upon a couple of their live videos on UA-cam then got hooked. The Trilogy era is special to me as a lot of the videos and concerts I watched at the time were from this era. I never thought I’d sing because up to that point I only played a guitar. A few months later, I was a super fan. I bought a yellow double cut junior because I saw Billie Joe playing with one, and got a mic stand and started singing not long after. Thank you Green Day for the inspiration!
They are the reason I'm practicing guitar. I got some off-brand Stratocaster off Amazon with an amp and crap. It was a good deal and plays well. I think the first song I want to learn is Platypus or The Grouch.

I got into GD around the time Revolution Radio was out. Almost feels like a decade now.

Trilogy is over-hated for sure. I think I have a soft spot for it because they came out during my college years and it makes me a little nostalgic lol.
There’s a couple songs that are…not the best. But most of it is damn catchy and so singable.

Being a huge Metallica fan, I see a couple parallels between them and Green Day; When you create albums (Kill Em All, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets for 'Tallica, and Dookie for GD) that basically help to define a whole new genre, everything written after is going to be compared to that. I've seen plenty of stuff online bashing Metallica for anything after the band started straying away from the sound and style that they created and helped to define, i.e. Thrash Metal.
With GD I see a similarity; the Trilogy, if we compare it to Dookie (and Insomniac, why not?) does feel off. Uno, Dos, and Tre sound too clean in production aside from Billie's voice being pretty drenched in reverb and delay; contrasting, Dookie, while having a more polished sound compared to Kerplunk and 39 Smooth, carries this great rawness to it that, to me, feels more powerful and distinct. Even going against American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown, a lot of material can feel watered down - again, because of the overly clean sound (*very* weak guitar tone tbh) and with some of the tracks just not having that _zest_ AI and 21CB had.
The Trilogy, if you aren't a huge GD fan, sounds more like a band inspired by Green Day, if that makes any sense? I don't hate these albums, but I do far prefer the older material over them. However, much like with St. Anger for Metallica, I think these albums needed to be put out there for the sake of essentially "saving" the bands (Billie Joe and James Hetfield both checked into rehab around the period of their albums making/release) from imploding.
These are my favorite Green Day albums. So underratedly good

I also got hooked up for the first time when I was in college in March 2012 when I first listened to BOBD and 21 guns... Later that year, just 3 days before my birthday, iUno! dropped... I didn't have any technical ears to judge their music but as someone who became a fan a few months ago, these three albums were special. Thanks for this medley, John! I personally don’t think you need technical ears (I don’t know if I even have that 🤣) to enjoy the music! I just like to appreciate it for what it is. I like that the Trilogy is a different vibe from the 2 Rock Operas before it. And yes Mason is the master of Trilogy haha 😆. We used to talk about the jangly guitar tone all the time when we first met.
And like you I think I got hooked by 21 Guns too! That was one of the live songs that really got me into diving into the rest of the discography 😆

Every now and then I like going back to the original Green Day medley you guys made, real nostalgic for me. This trilogy is the highlight of my transition period from starting college four years ago to figuring out what kind of life I'm supposed to live now. So glad you did this one, means more than you think.

Even as someone who was massively underwhelmed with the trilogy (especially being a new fan at its time of release), I actually really appreciate the structuring and craftsmanship of this medley. I love how you end with Brutal Love given that it was always the last song (at least on the first encore) on the Setlist during that era!

I love _a lot_ of the songs from the Trilogy. I do think it suffered from being overbloated, but there were some genuine bangers that came from it.
(My major hot take is that If "X-Kid" had come out around the Warning/Shenanigans era, fans now would regard it as an all-time classic rarity.)
Same I love a ton of the songs from the trilogy and the wished they still played some of them at least.

People talk shit about the Trilogy all the time but there are plenty of legit great songs on these albums. Even with that said, sometimes you just want fun, catchy songs to listen to, it's not a crime. Not every album/song has to be absolutely flawless with deep meaningful lyrics.

Great medley, it's been awhile since I listed to the trilogy front to back.
You could have used your sq-180 for Drama Queen and See You Tonight, Billie Joe uses a j-180 and actually had a signature j-180 model with Gibson a few years back.
I used the SQ-180 to record drama queen, it’s just not in the video. I think the Green Day version of See You Tonight is with an electric guitar that’s unplugged maybe? At least that’s what it sounds like to me.
