Oh yeah, it's going to be real sad with him since you know it's more of a recent success rather than with Kobe or Dirk. It had been a while before they had any real success and then they kind of just faded into the background.

It's funny, Dirk's 2011 chip kinda marked the end of the Dirk/Kobe era. Because Dallas would never come close to winning another ring with Dirk, and Kobe's Lakers was never the same after getting swept by Dirk.

I was ready to jump in the comments and blast this video from the title but you are spot on. The '22 chip was a legacy defining for Steph/Klay/Dray, Steph particularly, to show that they still had it in them to win one that was unquestionable. There was no way to pin injury luck or being a super team with KD to discredit the ring. It was the purest win. But it did also raise expectations that this core group was still pure championship material. I definitely do not want to live in a timeline where the Dubs don't win the '22 chip and all the hard decisions were made then but maybe it would've been easier. The Dubs are basically trying to Moneyball their way into reproducing what prime Klay was with Melton's D, Buddy's shooting, and Slo Mo's IQ and playmaking and hoping to make a trade to try to extend their competitive window. It probably won't set the league on fire but you never know.
Also, to speak to your point about how a Spurs' like run is not supposed to happen, even the Spurs went out with some weirdness. Tony Parker left early to go to Charlotte so their Big 3 broke up also. Spurs also entered their "if they just get into the playoffs then look out!" phase where they weren't clear cut favorites but no one would want to face them in the playoffs, same spot the Dubs have been the last couple of seasons. Then you have the whole Kawhi weirdness the last couple of seasons before he was essentially banished to Toronto (got a chip though lol). Really speaks to your point about how no dynasty is supposed to go out gracefully. The Spurs would still be dealing with weirdness if Wemby didn't fall into their lap.
I'm cautiously curious and optimistic about how the Dubs go forward. Would love to see a follow-up video once the Dubs finish all their moves. They're still pushing for Lauri so could be interesting times in the Bay still.

My only ever fav NBA team--Dubs--and I are soon to part ways. I won't care about them anymore because no more rings. For decades, I cared the world about them when they made the playoffs like once every seven years on average, and went like 38 years in between championships, but now I'm done with them.
The real fans yess, but im happy that we will offload a bunch plastic ungrateful bandwagon fans over the years especially after 2015 and 2016 peak time. Those guys never watched the warriors struggled for 28+ years before they won.

Too many mistakes mount to a difficult situation. Wiggins's big contract didn't work out. Jordan Poole's contract didn't work out. Wiseman turned to a bust. Klay didn't returned to his prime.
Spot on analysis. The Dubs are irrelevant in the West, more so in the NBA.
Dunleavy has done a great job as a GM by finding a way out of Bob Myers' mistakes and didn't make new mistakes so far. Letting old players with big ego go is good move. Not overpaying for guys not worth the contract is good move. Finding others to take bad contracts such as Jordan Poole is good move. Getting rid of draft bust is good move. The only negative is the owner seems to put too much personal opinion to influence the front office. Lacob is very high on Kuminga who after all these years is still raw and may or may not be a good fit for the system. But unless we have a new owner the team will have to stick with Kuminga until it becomes obvious for everyone that he is not that good. (As a Warriors, I hope I am wrong)

That's what you get when you turn the NBA into a player dominated league. It happened in football (soccer) and its worse because they actually BUY players and the they leave for a bigger salary. There's no live for teams anymore.
I actually like what they did this offseason. Melton, Hield, and Anderson are all very good role players. They're still not a contender. But I don't think they got any worse. Klay is a one-dimensional shooter at this point. I'm also not sure what Mike Dunleavy is supposed to do. Where is the trade that will make them a title team again? If they had more exciting young players or more picks to offer, that would be a different story.

Remember when Joe Lacob, the Warriors owner said this:
“We're light-years ahead of probably every other team in structure, in planning, in how we're going to go about things."
The Warriors got lucky. They hit on three draft picks in four years, drafting three hall of famers with average draft positions of 17. Getting Steph at 7, Klay at 11, and Dray in the second round were ridiculous strokes of luck. Then, they got lucky again. Steph's ankle injury allowed them to sign him at a discount right before he changed the NBA. They hadn't figured anything out, they scouted well and hit on draft picks, they managed their money well, and they took advantage of every break that came their way. Combine that with great coaching and players that were amazing and you have four titles in ten years.
NOW is when you find out how good their ownership and management are in reality. Now they have issues and how well they overcome those issues will determine how good they are really.
The rules were changed. The Warriors had the longest walk to adjust to the new rules.
Getting out of the Jordan Poole Contract was a win.
Getting out of the Chris Paul Contract was a win.
I am a Warrior fan, but the reality is that keeping Klay was not the answer. (His personal frustration and attitude was creating a negative atmoshpere within the team --- especially with the younger players. Hopefully he does better in Dallas.)
Respect to Steph Curry for staying with the Warriors and staying positive. But, we should not not completely count him out. There is always the chance for him to catch fire with a group of over-achieving "We Believe" players long enought to get another championship.
It is this glorious possibility that makes the game interesting.

I think yall commentators are forgetting that the warriors were 3 games out of being the 6th seed. That was with Draymond being suspended way more than usual (likely would've won more than 3 more games otherwise), and with Klay bringing negative energy and distraction, being a bad selfish egotistical teammate who was constantly whining, pouting, complaining, and literally crying, while also being terrible at everything but spot up shooting. Getting rid of Klay's negativity, and Draymond being suspended a normal amount (lol), and the younger players getting better and having more minutes... I think the Warriors might be significantly better than last year, and they were good last year considering

Great analysis. It will be tough for the Warriors to pivot and become a Top 5 team again, but I wouldn't put it past their ownership to try.
They really had a major setback by missing on James wiseman. That pick was supposed to stretch this warriors run a bit longer. If they drafted lamelo or even flipped the pick for a player of high value than they most likely wouldn’t be in this position. That miss definitely hurts them. Less than 4 years later and your number 2 pick is off the team is crazy. Also as a Draymond fan he did speed up this teams downfall. Running KD out, punching your teams second best scorer does not help
So true on the James Wiseman miss. They can't be blamed for it since that's the type of player they always were lacking, but it was just really unfortunate that it had to end that way. The stuff with Draymond would be more excusable if he was still good enough to make up for it. But just like rodman at the end of his career, the antics off the court did not make up for the production on the court and he simply has to either change or get moved on from. I thought him taking a less than max contract was a good step forward, however.
The warriors' critical mistake (it was something I predicted) was not trading Wiggins at the right time, trading Poole at the right time, and drafting Wiseman
Regardless of team value and owner wealth, the second apron and restrictions it poses on expensive teams is going to have a massive impact.
IMO I see the contending teams becoming younger as they can put more talent on the court for the same buck.
Some players wanting to get paid will have to leave with selling tickets vs contending.
One thing the warriors have going for them is they rarely ever traded their picks. So if they are bad, they could draft a cooper flagg or ace bailey or dylan harper and bring in the next era of warriors basketball.

Warriors have a top 5 player in the league on their team, all of their draft picks moving forward, and multiple young tradable players. Suns, Clippers, Post-LeBron Lakers, and multiple other teams have it worse. Warriors are in a great position to make some moves.
I'm not really sure what they're supposed to do. They don't have a stockpile of picks or desirable players. If a perfect fit does become available, there are half a dozen teams that could outbid them. The guys they could realistically trade for aren't making them a contender. Where does Steph and Lauri Markkanen really get you?
In the meantime, I actually think they've done fine this offseason. They lost Klay, but they've brought in multiple useful role players. I kind of like next year's team better than last year's. Granted, that's not saying much. I'd still expect them to be in the play-in or worse.
What they're doing is not nearly as egregious as the Nuggets, who are squandering an MVP in his prime just to save a few dollars.

The fact is Poole wasn't helping them win games. And Klay and CP3 weren't even close to worth the money they cost last season. They both looked like they should consider retirement. The Warriors are taking the ONLY path forward.They can't hang onto players that are ineffective at this stage. How can they possibly get better unless they find ways to get under the luxury tax?
Wiggins is the next guy they want to move. And they're expecting Kuminga to become an All Star caliber player.
Jordan played his final years on a weak Wizards team and Kobe played on some terrible Lakers teams. This is how it ends for most. Even LeBron isn't playing for a contender. It's the natural career arc of a superstar player.

Don’t underestimate the power of a champion (Steph).
People need to understand that letting CP3 walk “for nothing” enabled them to acquire Melton, Anderson, and Hield. They could not have gotten any of those guys with the $30M on the books.

It took a second apron tax upheaval (clearly targeted at the warriors), LeBron and Kyrie's historic playoff performances, Klay and KD's potential career ending injuries, a James Wiseman 2nd overall pick, and a Draymond green slap, to only allow the GSW to win 4 chips in 10 years.
They made the playoffs 8 times in 10 years, and have won before KD, with KD, and after KD. I don't think this franchise will go out sorry the next 3 years or so. Although, it's understandable that a dynastic run eventually comes to a stop. I will remain optimistic for the warriors, but as a fan, I would love to see one more legitimate run in the Playoffs with Curry around. Even if it is unlikely.
I think the second apron/new cba was aimed directly to stop the warriors and no team wanted to even entertain helping them with a trade along with bad draft picks means bye bye

Celtics did it right in 2013. Not saying Warriors should trade Steph and Draymond and all will be better, but they cannot be contenders when they are still on the books and aging. They missed with Wiseman, bad, which def looks to have bitten them in the ass even more than before. Trading Poole away was a mistake. I'm certain that one of the many reasons Bob Myers stepped down was because he didn't want to deal with a huge rebuild and be the face of why Klay left. The Warriors are in for a rough few years with aging steph and draymond, basically trying to make the play in games and hope for some favorable ping pong balls. Once Steph retires and I wouldn't be surprised if Steve Kerr resigns around the same time or before it or not long after.

They're trying to trade for Lauri Markannen. That might be a good place to start but acquiring Markannen will cost you.
If they were smart, they'd trade steph. They won't be able to put a team around him thats good enough to win a title, and its a waste of the rest of his career to stay in golden state. His value is still high and with a good trade package they could kickstart the rebuild that is inevitable.

This guy doesn't really watch a team closely outside of Brooklyn. They def needed to cut Poole out. He peaked. Wasn't going to improve and at best a Jordan Clarkson 2.0 making crazy money. Last season for the wizards def showed why it was the best move from Poole. We all knew as well Chris Paul was just a salary dump. If he had enough gas he would help the team but was constantly injured and did a decent job. He was clearly as well out performed by Warriors rookie Brandin Podzmieski who is a better KEY PIECE and more affordable. Hence why the warriors cut CP3. He was always a salary dump. The money they are saving right now or clearing cap space is for a young star at his prime or an aging all star who can come in for an affordable contract unlike PG13 who got 200+ million for only playing 50% of clippers game. Philly was that desperate.

Easy fix is, the nba makes a rule that requires players over the age of 33 to sign only front loaded contracts. So instead of a player like Steph making 60 million at age 39 he’d make 30 million or less
