Oh wow this clarinet sounds really gorgeous!! Such beautiful rich tone. High notes sound real good too!! I've got a Jupiter clarinet which my hubby and I bought about 15 years ago. I've recently made some changes to it, buying a new Yamaha 4C mouthpiece and a Rovner ligature which I have to say are most definitely a winning combination, producing a seriously rich, mellow tone which has completely blown me away!! I had a lovely play tonight, the clarinet is such a real joy to play!! I might upgrade to either a Yamaha, a Backun or a Jupiter 700SQ. So lovely to be playing my clarinet again after a long break, and I'm enjoying it more than ever!! Thank you so much for sharing your highly informative review. One thing that appeals to me about the Backun and also the Yamaha 255 is that they both have an adjustable thumb rest and also a ring to hook a neck strap onto. I use a neck strap, and that would be incredibly helpful. To have an adjustable thumb rest would be very good too, making playing more comfortable. I will keep you posted about how I get on!! God bless you hun, and I look forward to seeing more of your wonderful videos very soon!!🤩

@@TheClarinetProject Hi there, yes. indeed I've now got a brand new Jupiter JCL 700SQ, and it's absolutely gorgeous!! The keywork has been completely redesigned especially to cater for small hands like mine which is wonderful, as I can now cross the break better which is something that I had struggled with for years!! Really enjoying playing so much. more now, and the Jupiter JCL 700SQ has a beautiful rich and mellow tone. I swap between the Yamaha 4C mouthpiece + Rovner ligature and the Jupiter mouthpiece and ligature. Both combinations work extremely well, so I've definitely got value for money, and I'm as pleased as punch!!🤩

Have you ever tried the Ridenour clarinets? They are hard rubber!

I have a secondhand E11 Buffet. I've been thinking about trying this clarinet, because I heard so much good things about it. I'm curious about the difference between the Backun Alpha and the Buffet Prodige plastic student clarinet. Do you know the differences and do you have a recommendation?

I usually recommend whichever one works best for you. I would definitely recommend the Backun or Prodige over the E11. I would playlets them both with a tuner and a friend who's a good listener if you can.
