Stil one of the very best renditions by the Vienna Boys Choir. Angelic voices that we are blessed to still be able to enjoy almost thirty year later.
I have thought a lot about this. Cencic is a virtuoso singer who accomplished things as a boy treble that were considered almost impossible. His use of vibrato, etc borders on the miraculous. But a quality to René Cerncec's voice transports the listener. Hearing these songs, I always feel that I am listening to a unique soul, come to our dusty world with some sadness and regret, but with great purity of intention. My life is enhanced and adorned by it.
Methinks I am lying in my casket with a big smile on my face as the Laudate Dominum is sung like this at my Requiem Mass. A precursor to angelic voices perhaps. Smile on!
I certainly agree, this is now the definitive version. Regarding René holding the score, he has said he was not having the best day, and he may have been slightly ill. He missed a difficult entrée in Schubert's Ständchen (Drum statt Worten und statt Gaben) and had to be prompted, but still turned in the best performance of that haunting song that I have ever heard.
So artistic and beautiful. The little one next to the piano looks so solemn. I especially like the Cantate Domino by Giovanni Croce. Thank you for uploading. Wonder what these boys are doing today? Grown, of course.
Yeah, the voice is awesome and he has a lot of charisma too. It makes me laugh a little, because from photos I've seen, he looks like my husband did as a boy. :D
Laudate Laudate Dominum omnes gentes Laudate eum, omnes omnes populi Quoniam confirmata est Super nos misericordia eius Et veritas, veritas Domini manet, manet in aeternum Gloria Patri et Filio Et Spiritui Sancto Sicut erat in principio Et nunc, et semper Et in saecula saeculorum Amen
Very good and interesting songs, do you know kawaiimiffy the name of the boy who is standing on the right of the piano and who is always putting a new pagina on the score for the choirmaster?
Craig K Stunning is a good word. I might have become a totally one-eyed fan of Rene and these kids from '83, and I have, but they really give me goosebumps every time I hear these songs.
Our choir went to see one of the touring groups at this time in Bournemouth. Whilst we had sung in Winchester and Westminster Cathedrals, we were completely blown away. Recently went to hear King's at the Royal Albert Hall; tears were rolling down my face as the boys/men sang... So emotive, so pure; I have a friend at Cambridge, hoping for a seat to hear them in situ.
Craig K Good luck. This must be the sweetest pain in the world. If you don't know of him already, may I also suggest Alois Mühlbacher of the St Florianer Sängerknaben? Extraordinary musicality and vocal power.
+WeatherShine Don't be obnoxious - of course they aren't ! They are pre-pubertal; their voices will change soon with their development, so they can sing treble parts like this for only a short time . All the more reason this is so beautiful.

Oh Rene, Rene.
Thank you.
Thank you.
*_They are in their 50s now. I hope they had happy and healthy lives until now and in the future._*

It's Rene Cerncec. I know his Boy Soprano voice anywhere! It's very pure, and he is also great with emotions!

I knew it was Rene. One of the great young voices of his era. Knows how to get the maximum from his voice. A real artist.

Thank you for posting... until i heard his voice, i had Max Cencic as my fave soloist... I like his contol of vibrato...

I don't feel cheated that this standard cannot be found today. It should not be expected more than once in a lifetime.

@ Bertus. See the replies to Craig K below. He is Rene Cerncec.
Laudate Laudate Dominum omnes gentes

Is somebody able to tell me the hintername of René? He is very good indeed. BERTUS DE JONGE
A very happy looking choir . Sound great . B

Who is the soliste?
can someone clarify who the soloist is?
Rene Cerncec, the finest boy soloist of the last 30 years, IMO. Do some googling, especially for the song Zoegernd Leise. Very special indeed.
Rumiton Thanks for that; stunning control of his vibrato.

Ui
Are they castrated?

+WeatherShine Are you lobotomised?
