Melissa Barrera Persephone was actually never raped by Hades in any of the myths, since the term rape in ancient greece actually meant kidnapping. The reason we think of rape when it comes to her is based on the Renaiscance statue that was called "The Rape of Persephone", which wasn't made till the 1400's, and is when people started assuming Hades raped her. In every myth, they delve into her actually growing to love him and he treating her with respect and love, where normally she willingly at the fruit to spend more time with him, or didn't care when she found out the truth.
Hades: And now your father has given me permission to marry you. Persephone: I would rather die. Hades: *looks to the Underworld* That would just be playing into my hands.
I love it when Zeus said "Mortals don't know how lucky they are. When their wives get angry they break a plate or two, but this crazy woman is destroying the Earth!" That has made my day! :)
Mortal women may not be able to do things Demeter and Hera are capable of, but that shouldn’t suggest that breaking plates is the absolute limit to what they can do.....
I'm really glad that this portrays Hades more like he was in the original Myths. He was never evil, he was practical. Except for Demeter, but she's way too smothering a mother as it is!

Worst of all, Demeter was going to send her to an isolated island so no being could touch her, yet Hades made her queen, gave her a throne, and had her rule, to where the mortals feared her more than him when she was punishing them.

What the story is telling us that Persephone the goddess that represents spring, rebirth, and Youth, was abducted by Hades and taken to the underworld. After that, Everything around her was so different from the environment that she was used to. When she was in the underworld for a long period of time, Hades taught her about the progress of change and the inevitability of it and how change would also play a role in the circle of life and death. One of the reasons why she's turned from a girl into a woman. Even with the changing of seasons of weather shows that everything in life doesn't always stay the same. Change is a big part of nature. Shows you how much Persephone has changed, and how that abduction was a blessing in disguise.

08:17 ---> "But I am no longer hers." LOL! Yeah, Hades turned Persephone into a woman. Zeus is so infuriating to me with all his philandering ways! And then there's his wife, goddess Hera, who spends all her time angry and bitter about all of her husband's infidelities! Ugh! The love between Hades and Persephone is literally goals!
Terra Nova I would love to be Persephone as well but for me, I would like Hades to have a small beard, nothing fancy or ostentatious, just something tasteful. After all, Hades is the oldest, so I think something to show that off and still look great and handsome while his two younger brothers, Zeus and Poseidon, look a little worn and have little to no sex appeal.
I like to think of this myth as a portray of how dead is always accompanied by regeneration. And I also like to think of the Elysian Fields as a gift from Hades to his Queen, which she transformed into a paradise for righteous souls. I don't care about facts, this is my very own version, I'm not impossing it, I'm just sharing
i have had this movie stuck in the reccesses of my mind for SO MANY YEARS I could absolutely cry rn. It used to air on HBO ever so often and I only ever caught it a few times but my love for the story of hades and persephone became engrained in my mind. The ending song with her mother turning everything white is all i could ever remember vividly.
I watched this 3 years ago and it just somehow really touched me. Im absolutely in love with the animations I keep repeating each scene just to pay attention to all the details and efforts they've put into this
This is one of the most beautiful renditions of this tale I've ever seen and it's one of my favourites from greek mythology. Thanks a lot for uploading!:)
Surprising good. You keep to the storyline quite closely yet you added new insights. The relationship of mother and daughter-the clinging-the attachment and desperation. Well played. A+
Gods! I LOVE this episode because it is one of the versions of this story that shows Persephone actually happy with Hades. Thank you sooo much for uploading this episode, I had been searching literally everywhere for this episode. Thanks!!!
Actually, the original myth (or at least the Homeric Hymn to Demeter and I can't find any earlier than that) was four months. Only in the later mythology did it become six months.
Yes, well, I see this as an embellishment of the tale. Somewhat like what the musical, 'Wicked' embellishes the story of 'The Wizard of Oz'! I have read a great many versions of this classic myth which beautifully exemplifies a mother's love for her child. No where in the myth have I seen that Persephone feels dominated by her own mother's love for her. When Demeter and Persephone are parted, we feel the loss and separation from both parties, mother AND daughter. However this current story is crafted to make us feel, (and it is a nice thought that Persephone may find happiness down below), it does not reflect the true nature of this ancient myth! Enjoyed it for its creativity! B+
I can't believe that I finally found this! for years I've tried to remember what this was called, because I only remembered parts of the story and not the name. So glad that I found it
Due to me being a complete Greek myth-loving girl, I instantly fell smittened with this video when I came across it on Thursday night. I even saved it as a favorite ^__^
This is true. Zeus and Demeter were siblings, children of Cronus and Rhea but they also had a child together: Persephone. Incest is quite common in Greek mythology... (thus Hades is Persephone's uncle because he is the brother of Demeter and Zeus).

Oh, so beautifullly done!! Magic in a time of darkness. Thank you.
Whenever I see trees turning red in the Autumn season this means its time for Persephone to return in the underworld.
This is the only animation that I love when it comes to hades and persephones!!❤️❤️
08:17 ---> "But I am no longer hers."
LOL!
Ugh maybe I'm weird but I'd totally love to be Persephone.
Especially if my Hades was like this one hehehe.
Terra Nova I agreed
Terra Nova I would love to be Persephone as well but for me, I would like Hades to have a small beard, nothing fancy or ostentatious, just something tasteful. After all, Hades is the oldest, so I think something to show that off and still look great and handsome while his two younger brothers, Zeus and Poseidon, look a little worn and have little to no sex appeal.
I love Greek mythology, this was beautiful thanks for the upload
This is beautiful.
Ikr
I love this version
I like to think of this myth as a portray of how dead is always accompanied by regeneration.
And I also like to think of the Elysian Fields as a gift from Hades to his Queen, which she transformed into a paradise for righteous souls.
I don't care about facts, this is my very own version, I'm not impossing it, I'm just sharing
Hey that is the whole point of mythology!
@@CourierJackalope to make self versions or to get some philosophy out of it?
I love how Hades is portrayed, and Hermes' voice. Odd animation but the voices are clear. :)
ikr
i have had this movie stuck in the reccesses of my mind for SO MANY YEARS I could absolutely cry rn. It used to air on HBO ever so often and I only ever caught it a few times but my love for the story of hades and persephone became engrained in my mind. The ending song with her mother turning everything white is all i could ever remember vividly.
I watched this 3 years ago and it just somehow really touched me. Im absolutely in love with the animations I keep repeating each scene just to pay attention to all the details and efforts they've put into this
This was beautiful
I love these dolls hairs, made by wool..puppets are beautifully crafted.
A+
Don’t know how many times I saw this. And the song in the end wow 😊

Thank you so much!!!!! I saw this as a kid and always remembered it. You have no idea how thrilled I am to see this again! :)
Gods! I LOVE this episode because it is one of the versions of this story that shows Persephone actually happy with Hades. Thank you sooo much for uploading this episode, I had been searching literally everywhere for this episode. Thanks!!!
Their love story is the best among the Greek Gods!!!!
ya
Sweetie incest was all the rage back in Ancient Greece. Zeus married his sister Hera...so it's no big deal to them if Hades married his own niece.
Plus, Demeter was also Hades, Zeus, and Hera's sister as well
i like that this shows love. it makes it warmer, full of sweeter meaning
I've read this story countless times, but something about this video makes me cry.
He never captured her, he was actually nice and she chose to come to the underworld.
In the God School version, not Mythology.
Hades voice is sexy... I think I just whoops hahaha..
And I like the song at the end...
Yawina Rada the actor also played in the House of Elliot tv series

Sigh... Its 6 months not 4...
+Afia Mushfika I heard it was only 3 months...
So glad that I found it
this story is truly beautiful
Oh my goodness! I've been looking for this animation for so many years; thank you so much for uploading it!
That bee character was annoying.
Due to me being a complete Greek myth-loving girl, I instantly fell smittened with this video when I came across it on Thursday night. I even saved it as a favorite ^__^
That was really beautiful the art the music the voices .
I watch this video atleast 3 times a day😍
"He changes lovers like others change tunics." Hades. You are so right.
This video was definitely a worthwhile 13 minutes and 27 seconds. :)
Wow, very thankful for all of the peoples involved in the creation of this video. Incredible.
This is so darn cute, I love the dolls and the voice actors!!
Thank you so much for posting this. It's how I have always seen it. As a love story
I've been looking for this for a while. I remember watching it as a kid. I love Hades and Persephone.
Dose anyone else love how it’s Helios representing the sun. Kinda ashamed they didn’t add Hecate even though they had Helios
That hades hot not gonna lie
I love this, I wish all of Animated Tales where on YT ^^
This is true. Zeus and Demeter were siblings, children of Cronus and Rhea but they also had a child together: Persephone. Incest is quite common in Greek mythology... (thus Hades is Persephone's uncle because he is the brother of Demeter and Zeus).
This is a better love story than twilight.
Dead meme
My favorite Greek fable of all time!
this was the video that got me into greek mythology im so nostalgic
Aww, Hades made Persephone walk while he rode the horse at the end. What a gentleman.
I´ve been looking for hours now, but I can´t find the song anywhere. Does anyone know where you can buy or download it?
Ikr i cant find it either 😶
LauryUchiha What's the title of the song? :/
It´s called Persephone. I have also heard it was called Persephone´s Love song.
It's called 'Persephone' and it's by Laury. You can find it on Spotify... Although I might be 3 years too late 😂

The song in the end is so good : "Porsephony Persephony, I hope that you'll return to me. "
