I have very fond memories of this theatre. Watched many films here and while the popcorn wasn't the greatest and the movies were a bit older, it was always quieter than most theatres, which was a nice change. I'll miss AMC and I may be wrong in saying this, the old drive where Colossus now sits was demolish din the 90s, I believe Colossus is the next to go eventually. Its my opinion movie theatres are all on borrowed time. Anyway, loved the video Noah and congrats on your 50k subs. Well deserved my friend.
The way this theater complex is setup appears like the one in our town, except it had 24 auditoriums instead of 30. AMC was having trouble with the business there. It got sold to Regal and they removed 10 of the auditoriums.
Some theaters closed because the independent owner couldn't afford to go to digital projectors. One was saved in NJ when someone took over the lease. Then installed new projectors that I heard made the community happy.
I’ll bet those projector slide trays were up in the projector room to show the ads in between films. Kind of weird that they would use such old technology though. 🤔
35mm Slide projectors were very commonly used for preshow advertising prior to the early 2000s. After that a lot of theaters put in digital projectors for the preshow but the feature was still projected on film until the mid 2010s as digital projection for both became standard.
Happy for you hitting the 50k mark Noah! You're one of the channels I've been subscribed to longest, I've always enjoyed getting cozy and watching the Forgotten Homes series. Ep 35 has always stuck with me for some reason, I'd love to know the back story to that family!!
Congratulations! You are one of the 3 Contest winners! Please Email me at noah.nowherebiz@gmail.com so I can get your information to send you your prize!
Congratulations on 50k!!! That is sooo cool!!! Seeing this old theater is just so sad. You can imagine all the little groups of people with their popcorn & drinks heading down those halls…. I always find these abandoned places sad. 🤷🏼♀️🤪
Thank you for the tour of this closed down AMC failed 30 screen multiplex. You narrated very well, and described the reason behind the demise of this multiplex movie theater. It does not matter if you have 100 screens, they can all be poor quality. Their motive was to impress the public with how many screens they can put under one roof, not to have a proper film presentation. I live in the Dallas area and we had AMC THE GRAND 24, AMC MESQUITE 30, and AMC GRAPEVINE 30. When these massive theatres first opened, they had lots of patrons, but fast forward 5 plus years later, these theatres also declined in attendance. I thought, at the time they first opened, that these AMC multi screen theatres would fail in the long run, and they did, just as this video proved. American Multi Cinema, or AMC, really made MANY bad decisions, like overspending, poorly designed auditoriums and sound systems, not teaching the projection booth operators proper habits like cleaning projectors between shows, being careful when threading the film onto the projectors and not scratching film in the process. The employees who ran the projectors were not projectionists, they were operators. I don't put down anyone who was an employee at this major theater chain, but I do not have much respect for AMC as a company. AMC Theatres is still overpriced, and I go to Cinemark instead with no regrets, which is one of their biggest competitors. AMC is probably still in trouble today. By the way AMERICAN MULTI CINEMA got their name when they opened the first very small movie theater with more than one screen, it had 2 screens, the first MULTIPLEX, technically speaking.
Awesome explore, it brought back memories of the 80s when I worked at a theater, especially the projector room. I saw a winding table along with the film platters. Very cool and thank you. 😊 congrats on 50k, very awesome 👌
Sad to see film on the ground. Could be worth something or nice to add to your own home theatre with actual film on the walls. Oh well. So cool you worked there.
What I want to know is, where did all the seats go? What a massive building, it would be so easy to lose someone in a place that size. Specially a date you don't want to be with! Congrats on the 50 Noah 👍🥂
Congrats on 50K! When you said you were there alone that explained why I wasn't seeing any other explorers. There was a group I watched the other day & I thought you were part of that. I like when you guys go with at least one other person. It makes me feel like you are safer! But, I do not like how they often talk over each others' videos. I love the history you give. (I do not need a T-shirt 🤣)
Congratulations Noah! Next stop 100K. Enjoyable explore although I wish there was more stuff left. I love movie paraphernalia. Looking forward to your next adventure.
Congrats on the 50k! What a shame the building is being destroyed instead of finding a way to repurpose it. So much valuable equipment especially in the concessions area left behind that is now useless. I'm sure AMC wrote it off as a loss, but it could have been taken out immediately and sent to other AMC theatres as parts replacements. Also sold to smaller theatres, second runs, donated to schools, events, etc.
If you look at the landscape of the area in 2023 going into 2024 there have been a few stores that have been there and are now gone. One of the problems/short sidedness of AMC was that they tried to compete with Cineplex at that location until they eventually pulled out of Canada completely. Before Colossus was even built the area was always used for movies up until 1997 when the 400 Drive-in existed and the new theater was built starting in 1998, opened in 1999. One of the best things that AMC had was the AM watchers club on weekends where it was discounted prices until 12 p.m, as well as bringing some films that were more for those who loved Film Festival selections as well as high profile indie offerings. The other theaters once owned by AMC in the Toronto Area were purchased by Cineplex and are still in full operation. Since Cineplex already had Colossus there was no need for them to purchase Interchange 30 and now sits as a empty lot. Thanks for the video.
Congratulations on 50K!! What kodak films were they stacked against the wall, did you check? This was a very interesting walk-through, especially the huge projector room. So many theatres, I can see now why they re-ran old films and went out of business, just too big!
Congratulations on 50K subs! I told my partner the other day that you must have graduated from high school by now. LOL You look so young. The theatres full of arm rests are kind of creepy. It reminds of something from Star Wars. If I don't win a T-Shirt, am I able to purchase one. I would love to have one. Thanks so much for putting these videos together.
Thank you so much! Yea I'm not highschool young but I'm 23 haha. The theatre is a bit creepy for sure! I'm working on setting up a merch store so if you don't win you'll hopefully be able to purchase one if you'd like too soon 😊
Congratulations on your 50k subscribers, been with you for a couple years. That was a great tour of a really large theatre. Would love to show off your shirt in Saskatchewan. Tory & Vanessa
Yowza......now that takes me way back (be nice, guys.....I'm giving away my old age lol). I have said it before, but it bears repeating - your videos never disappoint.....thank you so very much for all that you do for us - whatta guy : -)
I enjoyed this video. Of course I enjoy all of your videos. Congrats on the 50,000 subscribers. Next how about 75,000. Go Noah. Glad you are back doing videos. Good to see you back with Ethan to. You 2 are my favorite Canadian you tubers. You are a very well mannered polite young man. Your parents did right by you. It's a shame so many places are shut down in your area. So many beautiful old and newer homes gone forever. You say the 90s is retro. I feel old. Take care of yourself.
That was crazy! That place was really big! I bet it was pretty cool when it was new. I’ve never seen a 30 theater place! I hope you are feeling all better and doing well. Take care and be safe!! 🍀🙏🏽❄️🤖🐉🎃👻⛄️☠️🎈
Thanks so much for your time showing all your videos. Thanks again Mike & Karen, keep making these videos and I'll keep giving thumbs up!!!!!! Be safe and I hope you find the honey hole hope, your fans Karen and Mike from California.. We hope to hear from you soon?????????????????????????
Great adventures! love the channel. I always have loved exploring abandoned places. Your videos allow me to view what I wished I had time to do myself more often.
Congratulations! You are one of the 3 Contest winners! Please Email me at noah.nowherebiz@gmail.com so I can get your information to send you your prize!
So sad to see what over building and maybe greed can build and then when no longer needed needs to be tore down. Such a waste of resources.. life goes on and we learn from the past.. hopefully the seats were recycled.. still is similar to what is available today. Thanks for the explore….
Congratulations! You are one of the 3 Contest winners! Please Email me at noah.nowherebiz@gmail.com so I can get your information to send you your prize!
30 scteen theatre. Wow. I did not know they new released that many movies at a time when they showed 1st run. The projectors are nothing now. Digital is the way to go. Could you imagine what just the operating cost of this building g would be. Wow
Hey Noah! That's great news on the subs. Awesome. There was one not far from me. Not sure if it was demoed or not. Kinda sad though. Lots of destruction. The bathroom? Really? Yuck Noah! Gross! Thanks for taking us with you on this tour and stay safe..
Loved and watched everything you've put out and will continue to watch them and congratulations on 50,000 subscribers that's quite an accomplishment good job!

So sad that this theater has to be destroyed. I never realized how big these
movie theaters are. Thank you for showing us. Keep them coming Noah.

30 screens....that's crazy. Way too massive for any market
This building is now completely gone. The condo projects are underway and the nearby transit terminal is complete.
Some theaters closed because the independent owner couldn't afford to go to digital projectors. One was saved in NJ when someone took over the lease. Then installed new projectors that I heard made the community happy.
Good job. It takes balls to go to an abandoned place by yourself. I would be too scared to do it by myself.
That building was massive! Really cool explore Noah! Congrats on the 50K subscribers and I wish you at least 50,000 more!!!

14:25 left corner…someone is looking for me!!
Is it weird I still think of movie rental stores all the time? Like every other day. 😝

Apparently when the theatre closed they ripped them all out and threw them straight in the garbage. Thanks so much 😊
Oh how i dont miss the 90s.

Love love love your channel. So nice to see abandoned places in Canada. Much love to you and congratulations on 50K!!!👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you for taking the time and care to share all the beautiful abandoned buildings. Congratulations again. Stay safe 😊
They should had kept it and make a 80s and 90s theme style movie theater with a imax included 😒
Congrats on the 50k! What a shame the building is being destroyed instead of finding a way to repurpose it. 0:25 I was gonna say, why so large? How many movies do you need to choose from?
So happy for you Noah, and I wish all the best in the future.
I'll wait. How rude to give a thumbs down without seeing the video. 👍❤🇺🇸

The complex, itself, is called a theatre. Each individual "theatre" is referred to as an auditorium. 😉 🥤😎🍿
Congratulations on your 50k subscribers, been with you for a couple years. That was a great tour of a really large theatre. Would love to show off your shirt in Saskatchewan. Tory & Vanessa
